Hello,
Had my 5th chemo Tax and Herceptin last Thursday but was given different steroid regime , took 16mgs day before and 16 mgs day after where as last time I also had a further 2 days worth reducing. Anybody got any other regimes or thoughts on what works best?? Feeling really rubbish as seems like a massive crash down this time or maybe that's just Tax 😞

Hello,
I think I must have had my head in the sand!
I had mastectomy Oct and axillary clearance Nov and will have my 4th tax and 2nd herceptin tomorrow pm. I will see the radiologist am to discuss radiotherapy. It has never occurred to me that I may get more lumps on the scar line - oops !! Thank you for alerting me to this and I hope your treatment goes well.
Do you know how far the margins were from your tumour when it was removed and did you have many lymph node involvement?

Hello,
Had my PICC in since December, sometimes it doesn't want to give my pre-chemo bloods so the Distict nurse gets me to stand up, sit down and then cough ! It seems to do the trick, worth a try methinks??

Having undergone mastectomy, snb and then axillary clearance, 3xEC and 1xTax (which was horrendous, 2 more to go 😞 I think I have good news!! I seem to have some sort of "fluff" growing back on my bald bonce. I didn't shave my whispy bits of Einstein hair as OH calls it but there is definitely something going on !! I thought Tax also gave you hairloss??

Hi Rosie,
Hope you're feeling ok. Depends on what chemo drugs you had. I had 3x EC and have just had first Tax and herceptin. The first 48hrs seemed to get side effects for EC nausea, tired , hot flushes but usually better by 7-10 days howver tax is certainly a different beast!! OK for 48hrs but downhiil until day 11 for that!!
Just remember we're all different. Rest when your body tells you to and drink plenty water and take your antisickness meds before you feel sick. oh and my hair fell out about 21 days after first EC.

Hi I used arnica following mastectomy/SNB when it looked like I was developing a bit of seroma and it all settled down. I used it again when I had axilllary lymph clearance. All appeared to be going well but I developed the most horrendous wound abscess that burst and was really unwell. I think it's really down to luck !

Not doing too good here 😞
Had first tax a week ago and herceptin 5 days ago. Called my team yesterday as really having awful stomach cramps and bloating as soon as I eat or drink. They seemed to think it was constipation however have had the trots all night and still cramping - like labour pains!!
Doesn't sound like constipation to me, any tips or suggestions? ThoughtI'd be feeling a bit better by now.

Thanks Lisa and Tilly Bob, Just feeling mighty perculiar at the moment but as you say it is the first Tax I've had and most people seem to tolerate the Herceptin better. I shall try the anti sickness pills as stomach ache is getting better but still evident. Feel as though I have eaten 10 tins of Heinz beans all in one go!!!

Hello,
Had first Tax Tuesday and first herceptin Thursday. Have already had 3 EC. Having really hoT sweats and abdo cramps along with ususal chemo aches BUT which is causing the problem or is it the combination. How long do they last? At least I don't feel sick like last time!

Hi had first Herceptin yesterday and first Tax Tuesday. I have had the most awful hot sweats and stomach cramps- any good coping techniques?? I'm sure they will get better soon.

Hello,
Went to see oncologist yesterday. Have had x3 EC and doing ok - things have dropped out but nothing dropped off!! Will be having docetaxal next time and starting herceptin 2 days after that.
Doctor spent 30 mins telling me how grim things were going to be as I hadn't experienced any side effects from previous 3 treatments!! I told her I had but just got on with things as best I could, no point moaning about it, has to be done.
I am now really really scared of what's going to happen even though I know that not everybody gets all the side effects. Please tell me some
none-scary things about this chemo.

Hello,
Well as expected day 18 post my first EC my hair is falling out rapidly which I thought I was prepared for but still a bit of an emotional roller coaster BUT I wonder how much longer what I have will last and my scalp is i really tender, any tips for the tenderness??
Also had PICC inserted today for really bad veins, forgot to ask how soon I can drive??

Hello, there's little old me feeling bad about getting an urgent nhs dental appointment prior to starting chemo - just incase anything needed doing. Usually there are no appointments for months, I explained the situationand they couldn't have been more helpful !!

Thank you....that puts it all in to place. Like you said, common sense to avoid infected people/places but you can't protect yourself from a urine infection so I just need to keep taking my temperature and get on with my life on my good days !! 🙂

Hello,
Just thought I'd put my fears in black and white to see how irrational they may be and hopefully get some reassurances from you people out there!
I have had mx 5oct and axillary clearance 2nd Nov and had my first chemo 26/11(3ec +3 tax). Yes its grim and I'm not looking forward to the rest but I have to improve my chances. BUT I have this really big fear of getting an infection, going in to hospital and not coming home again 😞
I'm frightened of meeting people incase they infect me and just can't get this idea out of my head. Would I know if I had an infection, I feel so rubbish at the moment I wonder if I'd know the difference - I do take my temperature regularly.
Being silly.... I know. OH thinks I'm being daft as I'm normally so optimistic!

Didn't have to have filgrastrim - they wanted to give me something else which was similar but I'm sad to say I got all upset and said if they did it in a+E resus with a cannula in I'd be happier.!! They said it sounded like a reaction, could be to the way it was made, the rubber bung, agents within it etc After much discussion as I am not yet neutropaenic they compromised and said to take my temp twice a day and then if I need it I'll be in hospital having iv antibiotics with a line in and a controlled environment if they give it again and I'm unwell so left feeling alot happier.
