Hey Mel I found out I was Her2+ last appt too and had the biggest cry of my life last week, just the whole horribliest of it all! Fed up with hearing bad news. but, my oncologist said, it used to be a bad thing and now its a good thing as now we can treat it and treat it well!! so, here's to tackling it full on with all the research and meds we have now! its there and at least we have the science to know why our cancer is more aggressive than others -and not only do they know why, but they know how to treat it. I've got a small tumour but its spread quickly and is grade 3 and is in my lymph nodes so having 4AC and 4Taxol, then surgery, then rads -got my last AC on Friday, having a port inserted tomorrow because of Herceptin for a year -figured thats sensible to save my veins. But, hate the idea of having a port, feel like a proper 'patient' know which is sh*t. This is all very horrible -we've all got to go through this experience and all of us would wish we were doing something different .... but we have no choice, sh*t eh????? anyway -let us know how you get on hannah xxx ... Read so many things. anita- my heart feels for you about the photos - i too look at my photo and have no connection ( but then I see how much weight I lost at WW pre dx! and think mmmm) Whatever treatment we are offered, given or refuse there is always hope and humour! Just wanted to add that my lump was partly behind the nipple too. This was a deciding factor for me. The lump was quite big, 3.6 cm and the hole left, with clear margins, would have disfigured my boob considerably. Irene ... View more

Hi Ruth My plaster started to come off five days after op and hospital said I could just take it off and use water to wash - pretty scary taking it off but the scar looked as if it had been there for years - maybe 3" long - no weeping or anything. I took the breast one off two weeks after my op, the day I was due to go to the hospital and fully expected my nipple and areola to end up on the floor - but it was perfect and it still works perfectly (movement and sensation). There is a purple line around the areaola and it seemed to sit slightly in more than the breast skin but it was fine (so sad that I will end up losing it). At first I felt that it did look a little different to the other but my husband was really impressed and as time goes on it is just starting to look normal. Hi Anne Got my appointment through this morning and I have to go in on the afternoon of Wednesday 26th so they must be operating on the 27th. It is difficult keeping track of everyone so in case you forgot my details I am 43 with two children of 12 and 15. I will just be having mastectomy and LD flap have already had aux clearance. I think it is the FEC chemo I will be having but not 100% sure yet. There is great info on here - (have you seen the tips for chemo - they will come in handy). thank you all so much for your support, its still sinking in at the mo and like i mentioned on the other board, just trying to figure how to explain to a five year old why i have to have one breast removed. he needs to know as i wont be able to lift him up for a while, itl be the same for my 19mth old but he wont undertand at all bless him. gonna be hard him as hes a mummys boy but with the support of everyone around wel get through it. the childminder has said that shed love to have him 5 days a week, she just wishes cos it was of work and not this bless her. but she laughed at my comments on the hair issue if chemo was needed(i said well thats one way sorting the creepy crawly issue) like said earlier ya need your sense of humour or youl go mad. can i say neone else getting their results today good luck i really hope its good news for you. ...
