Mel: lets look for these dreams... that what keeps me going. I am doing much better - yep it is only HAIR. It got me thinking about how funny it is that we want hair so much on the head, yet we epilate everywhere else... pfff. Anyway, it is coming off so much now, tomorrow after my chemo (morning) I plan to stop by the store and buy one of those cut-it-short widgets. then, with hair long a few mm, I'll be able to put on my wig.... 😄 or decide not to wear it.. You are very brave. I hope your blood count will be brilliant. Hi Julie from another one north of the border (Moray area) I was 41 last year when I was diagnosed with IDC, a Grade 3, stage 2, 35mm tumour, luckily my daughter is a little older and was able to look after me during chemo and after my Mastectomy. I know they put titatium clips in pre chemo (which for some reason I did not get!), so that they can tell where the tumour is if chemo shrinks it too much!! I assume in your case as your tumour is fairly small, the wire is so that they can identify what area to remove during surgery. I was initially told I was going to have this done after my chemo! but, they left it too late apparently?????? Take it easy and try not to stress too much, which I know is very hard. My thoughts were always that I couldn't do anything about my diagnosis, I had cancer and that I had to be very positive and get through this c**p - chemo was the worst time for me and on odd days I 'nearly' stopped my positive thoughts, but after a swift kick up the butt I surged onwards. Hi Wens72 I am a pretty calm person normally but the day before any results is always horrible. Pity you can't have a drink to calm your nerves! My Surgeon scared the living daylights out of me when he told me first that my tumour was a grade 3 rather than a grade 1, as the biopsy had originally showed. When I read some of the letters on here I could cry. I am considering myself soooo lucky in comparison with a lot you. I am 60 now and just had Lumpectomy and Lymph node removal as a result of mammogram. Mine was so tiny only 6mm and confirmed as Grade 1 and last weeks results show no spread to lymph nodes. I will have hormone and radiotherapy treatment. How you younger people cope I don't know,especially when you have young children and my admiration goes to you all. you are amazing and like all other comments you must stay positive and take each day as it comes. My inspiration comes from my mother in law who had mastectomy 2 years ago at the age of 73 , she also has parkinsons, but she is still the same battle axe she was before ( thank god). Also my aunt who had the same 14 years ago and is perfectly fine now. So remember we do survive and it may be a long road but hey at the end of the day what cost a life? It is a pity though that mammograms aren't available readily for the unders as I am amazed how many younger prople are diagnosed. Hi Kriss and Vanessa Thanks for your messages. I had the dreaded drain out on Friday, so am feeling fine. Went to a barbecue at a friend's house on Friday night and a meal last night. Hi Anne I am doing really well. The District Nurse took my drain out yesterday, which was great. I went to a barbecue at my friend's house last night and am going out for a meal tonight. I now just have a dressing on each wound and they don't hurt at all. Obviously, I am being careful not to knock them or do anything too strenuous. The dressing under my arm is slightly uncomfortable, but that is just the tape pulling on the skin. I also have to be careful not to do too much as I get a bit light headed if I do. I am trying not to worry too much about the results on Tuesday. I just keep thinking, if the lymph nodes are clear, I will never complain about anything again. I used to moan about the size of my boobs (36D and I am only 5ft 2). They suddenly seemed a lot more attractive when I thought I might lose one! I know that no matter what the results are, there is always a chance it will come back in the future, but if I can get through this with what I have had so far and just radiotherapy, I will feel like the luckiest person alive. From reading this site and meeting others in hospital, there is always someone a lot worse off than yourself, that's for sure. If it has spread, then I will be really disappointed but I will deal with it. Yes, I am so lucky that the sun has shone all week, which has meant I can sit in the garden. My husband is a keen gardener, so it is really lovely. He says it is about time I appreciated it! I think you are right to keep working. That is what I did and it helped to keep some sort of normality. I'm sorry you have a had to wait. I think that is the worse bit about it all - the waiting. I know you will be fine, though.
