Never know which thread to post in lol. I posted in Dec thread but seems more active here. I started my chemo 27th dec so probably best to post here Had 2nd chemo yesterday. No problems. Just hate the waiting round when you get there. Had cold cap but my hair is falling out. Think I will have to brave the shave soon. Got home and felt "bit" naseaus about 8.30pm This is when the severe nausea started after my first chemo. The nurse advised me to up my "when needed" medication so tried the Prochloperiazine which had to disolve high between upper lip and gum. I didnt try this one 1st chemo. And yes it worked. But I had been trying the fasting for 2 days pre chemo. Didnt fast completely but did cut back on what I normally eat. So maybe that helped too. Had my 4 steroids today and yes have slight palpatations. So think it is the steroids. Have to take 4 a day for 3 days. Took them at 6am so hopefully wont disrupt sleep tonight too much.

Yes did get slightly red face after 1st chemo. Thought it might be the steroids. But could have been the fili injections. I start mine soon, so will report back.

well fasting not going so well but not so bad either lol . Had an apple yesterday and some eggs in the evening. Today just had an apple. Apart from that just black coffee and water. Im starving tho. Got chemo tomorrow.

Got 2nd chemo tomorrow. Hope I dont get as severely nauseous as the 1st one. Other than that I got palpatations. Not sure what caused it. Im was on Dex 4 tabs a day x 3 days. Was told to take the 4 tabs in the morning. Still couldnt sleep at night. Also was on the fili injections x 5 days starting 2 days after chemo . Wonder if it was either one of those that caused the palpatations. Will mention it tomorrow anyhow. Having picc line put in on Monday.

Hi. Had my first chemo 27th December and suffered very severe nausea for the following 7 days. It is now 48 hours till my next chemo. Have had a decent breakfast and plan to fast to see if I get fewer side effects for my next chemo. So water it is for the next 48 hours 😮

Hi. Im having a picc line put in next Monday. Ive been told I need to buy a waterproof cover. Anyone know the cheapest place to get one. Ive been looking on ebay, amazon, boots but am horrified at the prices. Thanks in advance.

Spoke too soon. Nausea again. I took a Motilium 10mg tablet. I got some prescribed for PRN (when necessary) but not sure how long to take them for i.e. how many days. I know not more than 3 in 24 hour period. Seems to have taken the edge of it anyhow. I was taking up to 3 a day in the few days after chemo. Can I continue doing that if necessary.

Hi all, I've been advised to get a Picc line and waiting for a date to go to my local hospital for. But I was told district nurses will come round once a week to flush it and to take me bloods from it pre chemo. Anyone else get this? Day 5 from chemo and nausea not too bad today. What sea sickness bands do you get Jencat

Morning all . Had my first FEC yesterday morning. All seemed to go well. Tried the cold cap which I found horrendously uncomfortable for the first 15 minutes and it also leaked at the back so had a cold back despite having towels. Will take change of top next time. Was ok the rest of the time. Got home about 5ish, had evening meds but still got very nauseous. Went to bed early and fell asleep but awoke in the night still feeling very sick. I found drinking plenty of water helped. Got up this morning, felt a bit sick. Had morning meds of Emend ( I see someone above has said it is a good one). And 4 steroid tablets so hopeing today will not get so much nausea. One of the drugs made my wee a bit red. I was told it would be back to normal by next day but its still a bit red. I feel Im drinking plenty of water, so hopefully that will subside today too . xx

Got my date today to start Chemo. 27th December. Got pre chemo appt 21st December. Bit annoyed really as had my op 23rd October, daughter came over from Australia to care for me. She has to go back 30th December. She was due to go back 6th Dec but managed to extend her stay a bit when I found out would need Chemo. Would have liked to have got a cycle or two done while she was here incase side effects are too much for me. Got my husband here with me but he has very severe COPD on oxygen 24/7, so wont be able to do much for me. I usually do all the running around. Saw Oncologist 29/11 and he said would try to get it sorted I started Chemo as soon as possible. Guess it wasnt possible.

Hello. Diagnosed 16th Aug. SMX with auxilliary clearance with immediate reconstruction 23rd Oct. Saw oncologist last week. I have triple negative cancer stage 1 grade 3, and will be starting chemo soon. Just waiting for the date. Hope its asap as my daughter came over from Australia to care for me after my op and will have to go back end of this month, so would like to get started with one or 2 cycles while she is here incase I get nasty side effects. Husband cant do much to help me as he has very severe COPD and is on oxygen 24/7. So dreading this Chemo particularly the side effects.

Ok I was first diagnosed 9 years ago. Small lump left breast. Had lumpectomy, rads then tamoxifen for 5 years. Was discharged. Saw news article that 10 years tamoxifen is recommended now, so back to GP who referred me to oncologist, who agreed to me being put back on Tamoxifen for a further 5 years, which Im still on. However about a month ago, noticed left breast didnt look right. Skin seemed orange peel like, dent where lumpectomy had been done seemed deeper and bit of a lump felt near lumpectomy scar. So back to GP who examined me then referred me to breast clinic, where I went 2 weeks ago. Had Mammo, ultrasound. Lump was seen but they not sure if its scar tissue as its very near my lumpectomy scar. 4 Biopsy's taken. BCN couldnt tell me if its cancer or not. She said its 50/50. So, anyway, got results tomorrow morning and am of course really scared. Havent told anyone except my hubby.

Hi, was diagnosed nearly 6 years ago and just finished my 5 years of Tamoxifen, which is great. However, since stopping Tam about 2 months ago have had one period which was extra extra heavy and also put on a stone in weight. I was one of the lucky ones that lost a bit of weight on Tam and rarely had a period. Wonder if this has happened to anyone else and does the weight keep piling on or should this stone be it. Thanks in advance.

Hmmm interesting this. When I had my lumpdectomy a lady in the bed opposite to me was in her early 70s and having a lumdectomy too.
But when my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer in both breasts the consultant said will put her on femara. Femara worked well and both lumps shrunk. I asked whether they will now remove whats left of the lumps and the doctor said no need. Just to keep taking the femara. Did try to push a bit saying surely it's best to take the lumps out or do double mascetomy (which is what mum wanted) But the doctor insisted she was too old and wouldnt be strong enough to take the op. But I cant see why she shouldnt have the op. No heart probs,blood pressure probs or anything like that
Wondering if should try a different consultant. Mum is now 79 and been taking the femara 3 years. So what happens after the femara stops working.
