Hi all I have posted this on behalf of Terry. Kind regards Louise Facilitator Thought I would join you guys. I have been here about two years now. My wife (44) had the cancer come back March 2006. We have two girls 17 and 15 Long story but she has lost 4 inches in height, only walks with a limp BUT she is still here. At first they said 6 months, well that was nearly 18 months ago !! She has had 11 sessions of Taxoter and large doses of Xeloda, now she is just on Femara. She still sleeps 16 to 18 hours a day ( I would be interested ) if any of your wives are that tired ? Hi All I have posted this on behalf of new user Denise Regards Louise Facilitator Hi Judith I was just recently diagnosed with inflammatory breast ca (18th Dec). I spoke to the mcmillan nurses at the time of diagnosis about telling my son who is 7. We decided to wait until after christmas to tell him. It has been hard as he didn't understand why I was tired or grumpy. We told him the day after I started the chemo (31st Dec), which was just as well as I was up all night puking. His main concern was that we had to cancel our holiday, he was really upset about about this but we've managed to convince him that a few days at centre parcs would be more fun that 2 weeks caravaning in France. After all my treatment we have promised ourselves a holiday in Lapland. We also spoke to his school about the cancer and they have been very supportive. I've also given him a bit of responsibility around the house which has helped such as making sure the dog has been fed, or giving me a foot rub. I am all for being truthful with him about cancer as he will now grow up aware that cancer is treatable and isn't as scary as it was years ago, the mcmillan nurses and school have also suggested that when I'm finishing the chemo he can come with me to see me getting the chemo. Since the diagnosis I do have dark days and good days, but in general I feel that this has happened for a reason outwith my control and in the end I will become a stronger person which can only pose as a good role model for my son. Hi All I have posted this on behalf of new user Denise Regards Louise Facilitator Hi Chrissie I was diagnosed with inflammatory breast ca in 18th Dec. On ultrasound the tumour is 2.6cm there is lymph node involvment but not hormone related. Started my chemo on 31st Dec and with good scottish tradition I puked my way through the bells. They did say at the hospital that if I wanted I could have a small glass of wine to see in the new year but the sight of a plastic bag was the most welcome thing that night. Felt awful for the next few days but now feel much better and even gearing up for the next dose of chemo although my GP has given me diazepam to calm me down a few days beforehand as quite possibly the nerves will kick in again.
