Hi K26. Hopefully the sunny weather this weekend has helped sooth the worries of the dreaded waiting room. The results day is getting closer and fingers crossed that the results will be good ..if not after the initialshock, once you know the treatment plan you will begin to feel that you are in a better place. I was diagnosed in November with multi site high grade DCIS following a routine mammogram and 2 core biopsies. 5 weeks ago I had a mastectomy and LD flap breast reconstruction and making great progress, i think i can see a little light at the end of thetunnel. Hi Karen, waiting for results is a hard part of the journey, and until you get a treatment plan it seems like it goes on forever. I waited for my initial results 2.5 weeks then had to have a second core biopsy which took another 10 days. Please try not to trawl the websites as I found lots of website proved to be frightening and just untrue. Stick to this forum and Macmillan, honestly all the information is contained here. Keep chatting on this forum the ladies and gentlemen on here are so reassuring and knowledgeable and kept me going through the dark hours. Have you tried ringing your breast clinic to see if they can bring your appointment forward, explain to them how you are feeling....you don't know until you ask. I think the results do take At last 10 days, then they seem to have a system where the results are discussed at a meeting etc., Do try and have a relaxing weekend, i inow its difficult and do feel free to post on here or Private message me. Hi Storm. The waiting is soooo bad, I agree your mind goes into overdrive. I remember, I couldn't really focus on anything apart from what if..... Hi Maria, I am sorry that you are having to make such hard decisions. I cannot help you with thetissue expanders questions as 4 weeks ago I had MX with LD back flap and implant reconstruction. I know it is early days but I am so pleased with the progress and thelook of my new breast so far.....if you decide on this route I would be happy to share my experiences and answer any questions that you haVe. It is now 4 weeks following surgery (MX and immediated LD backflap and implant reconstruction) no chemo or rads needed and I have made very good progress with fairly limited pain. Whilst my new breast looks very good I am concerned with the amount ofswelling. I was a 36C pre op and 4 weeks later i am still in a 40C bra, which at the end of the day starts to feel tight and needs expanders for bed time. I do have fluid in my back and under arm, but it is not causing me to much pain or trouble so It has not been drained. My reconstructed breast still looks much wider and bigger than my other breast and i would just like some reassurance as to what is normal for the timescale. I seemed to gain about 7lbs whilst I was in hospital and i am still trying to lose it, which is a nightmare when "allowed" exercise is non existence, is some of this weight gain Due to the fluid? I think as i made such good progress initiially, i expected the good rate of progress to continue and not slow up. When does it all start to feel and look "normal" ? Has any one had similar experiences.

Hi Franjoe, I had two sets of core biopsies done and definitely had to visit in person to receive the reults. As the hospital was over 1 hours drive away i did ask if they would tell me over the telephone and they said No, there policy was you have to come in person. Goodluck for tomorrow, praying for good results. Xxxxx

Hi Shazza. I had a MX and immediate LD back flapwith implant on the 11th Jan. Whilst it is early days I amextremely pleased with the process so far and do not regret the choice I made. Like you when I met the consultant I was favouring implantsbecause I have two knee replacements this seemed like a quicker option. I was asked to consider the LD Back flap as for me being 51' and size 36C he thought this would give me a realistic boob and be the best cosmetic option. The op is all done at the same time with no planned additional ops like with the implants exchanges. Whilst it is a big op I was in theatre 9 hours, I have not been in any pain only discomfort and I am nowtony using parecetomal as painkillers with the odd additional codeine here and there. If you decide on this option let me know and I can give you more detailed information. PM me anytime with specific questions. Good luck with your decsion and the rest of your chemo. Big hugs to you. Hi jenny, I am sure I will be able to step into it soon, at the moment I have too much swelling and fluid so the wholething is too tight wHich is unfortunate. I have bought a tradional sports bra two sizes bigger and have still got 3 expanders in the back....i am only 17 days post op so I am sure it will improve soon. Xxxxx

Genie bras are fab and i can't wait to start wearing them again as they are so comfy. At the moment I can't wear it as I have just had a MX and ld back flap and can't get it over my head! I am having to wear traditional sports bra that fastens at the back. I am a 36c the 14 fits well. Xxxxx

Sorry netballnut, the waiting is the worst. When I had my biopsies, ultra and FNA I had to return 4 days later,theytold me I was not to worry, but no more info. I was diagnosed with multi site DCIS and have jjust had Mx and recon. On my return for the results they were very knowledgable and helpful and a detailed diagnosis and next stage treatment plan all ready to go and things moved quickly. try and chill until Wednesday fingers crossed for good news xxxxxxx big hugs Cheryl xxx

Hi Emma, sorry can't answer your question, but i note that you said your ribs hurtI underneath your recon breast. Mine also, it feels like a ad bruise and I have a mass of swelling that moves when I prod it. Do you think it is fluid? Ifirst noticed ia about day 10 following op. Iwill mention it to BC on next visit. Gosh do we ever stop worrying?
