Hi Lynnq fingers crossed for you too. Onc only suggested 6 or 8 weeks I think he understands the anxiety we feel and 3 months would be quite a big step to take. It's perhaps worth asking next appt I'm just pleased I got to see the consultant Onc this time. xx ... View more

Hi Everyone just want to share my good news with you all have just been for Onc appointment and am still stable. Saw consultant Onc today which was a nice surprise he is changing zometa to every 6 weeks as trials have been done and he says when we have been on zometa for a while 6 to 8 weeks is just as effective. No I haven't either the only regular contact I have with anyone are the nurses on the chemo unit that give me my Zometa every 4 weeks. Haven't heard from BCN since secondary diagnosis. Onc lets me have a scan every 6 months but wants to leave me longer (I persuaded him last time but not sure next time). Results again 20th April. Have got lots of questions for him next time thanks to you lovely ladies on here. Was anxious a few months ago and put in touch with a local Macmillan nurses support group. Hi welcome I'm also having Zometa and taking Letrozole. I find I have less energy for a few days after the Zometa but it's nothing compared to chemo. Also always feel as if mouth is dry. So you join lots of us with lots of different experiences. Hugs to everyone. Janet x ... View more

Nicky you say your on letrozole and have aches and pains. It could be the brand you are taking causing the aches. Make a note of the brand and ask your pharmacist for a different brand next prescription my knees and hands are bad with one of them it's trial and error but we now avoid the one that doesn't suit me. Hope this helps. Sianie I've been the opposite to your mum had Exemstane with primary now on Letrozole so think they try one then when that's not working give a different one. Sending best wishes Sheila keep sharing your thoughts with us all we'll try to help and support you through this. Stresshead haven't had chest pains but one make of Letrozole gives me lots of pain in knees and hands so my pharmacy don't give me that brand anymore. It's a bit trial and error with it. Write down the manufacturer as you get your prescription and put side effects next to each one. Then tell your pharmacist if you want to avoid that one. Just read your post Nicky my hair was very grey when it came back but have been on letrozole and zometa for 20 months and its getting darker as it grows. Don't know if it is the medication but I like it :-). It's one of my positives ( coz I like to find positives). Love Janet x ... View more

Helen if you're going to have to lose your hair check with your hairdresser(mine had had other clients) and anyone you can about where is the best place to go if you want a wig. In my area there are 2 one is very good and knows when your hair will start to go and gives you her phone no to see her for help. The other is ok but check. The hospital have leaflets but word of mouth is better. Good luck you can cope we will all be here for you, you too Sheila.
