hi geeky - sorry you've had to join us here but there is a lot of support etc - you've done the right thing having it checked out and so many people have reassuring news too so its not all bad news, you don't say how old you are but some conditions are considered "normal" at different stages of your life ie young or peri-menopause (around that time) etc and everyone has a different story to tell so don't judge yourself by what you read as its amazing how similar and yet so different various people can be....take care ps I rang the helpline and had a good chat with a lovely lady that really helped... ... julie - thanks so much for your post and I'm so pleased you're doing well girl - must admit - LOL at the inflating boots - what us girls are like for shoes n boots eh - coupled with the tesco bag - although I take it the inflating boots were on in bed only?? hi Karron - I saw my gp on christmas eve and he referred me to breast clinic - I had a dimple or dent and wasn't sure re lump as I'm lumpy and bumpy anyway esp pre period time....was diagnosed on jan 7th and have to have lumpectomy and node sampling on 28th....I have 2 kids, son 10 and daughter nearly 16 and I'm 43 although have prob aged 10yrs since last wed.....so your op was this week - hope you're doing ok and healing well.....don't suppose you're anyway nr Shropshire? the waiting is def the worst I think, just too much time.....so do you not know what will happen re biopsy etc now? I know you mentioned coming home for treatment - is that an easy/good option for you at all - I was only thinking along the lines of support, friends, family etc. You mention the restaurant so obviously you're busy with work and all that brings too.....thinking of you anyway x ... Hi Magel....I took my daoughter - nearly 16 to dentist two days before clinic appt and 3 mags that I picked up mentioned BC on the front, then took her the following day to GP as she has had horrendous painful periods etc and we knew they'd suggest the pill, one of the first q's the doc asked was is there any history of breast cancer in the family - I answered no and tried to cross everything...next day I was at the clinic and got diagnosed....and god I howled when my friend came round, mainly from fear I think.....I'm ok till people start being "kind" then I'm off, but so far I think its helped, I'm still really weepy but now its more normal rather than the terror of what-if, if you know what I mean. Now my hubby is feeling it I think, he's brilliant but being too strong and won't let it out but men are a different species anyway as we all know! Take care, mary x ... View more

Lisa, I have a daughter nearly 16 and son 10 - what are your kids doing re the op etc - going to school as ormal - I was hoping they would both be happy to keep them busy but daughter is fretting and wants to be off.....they have said its day surgery but most people who post on here seem to stay in at least overnight - staying in doesn't bother me but it might the kids - not sure.... ... Lisa - will be thinking of you then....I have lumpectomy & nodes sampling on 28th - pre-op assessment now mon 19th. I got really stressed out yesteday as the clinic rang to ask me to go back on monday next for "some more views to be taken", my pre-op assessment was meant to be for the tues but the x ray dept could only do the monday afternoon so the lady moved my pre-op bit to the monday too to save me travelling extra as I have a bit to go.....my woories were that they wanted more views/xrays whatever as someone else had found something etc - mind went into panic mode as it does. I think she said ultrasound too - I did query if I needed it on the one stop clinic day when I saw the consultant - so why do they need it now?? With the pre-op bit do they do chest xray/more mammography (as thats what I thought she meant they wanted "more views of") - is it all routine??? I seem to take steps forward and as many back - no wonder I'm going round in circles - they might have to tie me to the bed on op day in case I get lost!! Mary x ... View more

wendie - I said hi on the other thread that magel started, so hi again! I too was diagnosed on 7th - don't think we'll be forgetting that date for a while - I too am 43, do you have kids? The clinic I was at in Telford (Shropshire) was full with 85 people worrying - its such a common thing, and so many people have said so treatable now - including my consultant, mary xx ... View more

hi magel - sorry to hear your news and can't help re the grading stuff but just wanted to say hello - I was diagnosed last weds and know what you mean.....I've had a weepy morning and its only 08.55 - sometimes I just can't stop crying but the worse bit was the awful acute anxiety I had from wed night till monday - I couldn't watch the tv as I couldn't concentrate, everything was about death n dying etc, couldn't look at the paper and could only look at the newly diagnosed section of this brill website....but I had some lovely messages of support and it helped to know there were others going thru similar.....I can't get my head round all the grade stuff at the mo - going in on 28th for wle & node sampling and will take it from there....sending you a big gentle hug, take care, mary xx ...
