Not sure where you ladies live but the company Womanzone in Warrington do made-to-measure swimwear and it's fantastic. They also have a mail order catalogue. You choose which fabric you want, Which neckline/straps and back height as well as high or lower cut leg. They do one-piece cossies or a Tankini set. They have a special pocketed bit for your prostheses and they also sell swim prostheses. they are also a very good price. Hope that is helpful xx ... View more

I unfortunately got Cellulitis (not sure how to spell it) while I was having Chemo, in my left affected arm. I was advised to always keep Antibiotics in the house in case I get ant signs of infection again. If I do cut myself, I wash the cut in warm salted water, put Savlon cream on and cover with a plaster. So far so good. Hope that's helpful x ... View more

I have just had a second Mastectomy (on Thursday 18th.October), I am recovering nicely and I am so relieved. Sainsburys do a copy of the Genie Bra and it costs £8. They are soft and comfy and have small pads in them. I'm having my second Mastectomy in 2days time and I know these will be great. I just look as if I have small boobs. Also John Lewis Haberdashery department have "Breast Forms" which are made of foam and would add a bit more curve if you wanted. Good luck to everyone xx ... Hi everyone, I had a single Mastectomy 2 years ago and have wanted a second one ever since. I have no Cancer in the 2nd. breast but am going ahead with the second MX. I am so looking forward to having it done and reducing my risk as I worry about it returning every day. I also will be so much happier bening symetrical and choosing small prostheses. I am a DD/E cup and only 4ft 11ins. so a big boob for my build. It has been so helpful hearing everyone's stories and hearing how you are happy living Breast Free as I'm certain I will be. I went to Hudsons which is on Lloyd Street in the centre of Manchester, just off Albert Square.The telephone number is 0161 834 6151. You need to make an appointment and you think you are going to an office not a shop. They were so helpful and absolutely fantastic. They made the whole experience so much easier. Hi topsymo, Sorry if I didn't make myself clear. I meant to say that I had my Chemo and Rads at one hospital where I have now been discharged from and I see the Breast surgeon at another hospital. These appointments wityh the Breast care nurse and surgeon will continue and I think that is for 5 years. I am due to have an appointment in April at which time I will have a Mammo and I think my appointments will then be annual. Sorry to confuse you all. I went to see my Onc today and was told that they are discharging me! I am 2 years Post Diagnosis and had Chemo, Mastectomy and Rads. I have had appointments 6 months apart with the Breast Surgeon and Onc alternating. I've been on Tamoxifen for 2 years and now they are changing me to the Aromatose Inhibitors. I'll still see the Breast team but it's a scary feeling even though I'm meant to be pleased! I was really emotional about it all.They said to speak to my GP if I'm worried but he was a fat lot of use telling me that the initial pain under my arm was "just a nerve" and my Lump was "Normal Lumpy tissue!" I too went through this and it does get better. I'm 20 months post treatment now and just about feel I'm in charge again.I work 3 days a week but have cut my hours down and finish at 3pm. instead of 6pm. which has made a huge difference.Memory still isn't as good as before but it is getting better and takes a bit longer to register. I do still get tired and try to rest if I'm having a rough week. There is a great article by Dr.Peter Harvey called "Life after Treatment" which I found somewhere on this site and it just explains how you feel. It will show you that you are not alone. Give it time, it does get better but it's so frustrating. xx ... View more

I am now 20 months post Diagnosis and I still feel losing my hair was the worst bit.Yes it does grow back and in fact it is thicker than before but that doesn't make it feel any better. I used to get such a shock when I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, looking like a zombie but as time went on it got easier.I now wear my hair short but all in all I'm now a different person. You must get it checked out. I had pain in my armpit months before I was diagnosed and the GP told me it was a nerve.If he had sent me to a specialist then I may not have had to have a MX, Chemo and Rads. Good Luck, you've got nothing to lose by checking it out. ... View more
