I also have 2 sleeves and 2 gloves. I have to say I take the glove off when at home and cooking or cleaning but it's not ideal. I put mine in the washing machine on a 40 degree wash. I have told I can have replacements every 6 months. By the time the months go by the glove looks awful and really tatty.

Things do just get to you and you have had more than most. I too had "The Screaming Abdabs" as I called it, when I was at about the same stage as you, cried, screamed and yelled! (my husband decided PC World was suddenly calling!). I slammed down the biscuit pot which then broke and all the biscuits went all over the floor. My dogs thought all their Christmases and Birthdays had come at once! The grim reality sets in at times.I still cry quite often at the slightest things so you are not alone.xxx

You are certainly not being pathetic!!I was told it takes a year after treatment finishes to recover. Treatment being Chemo, Rads and Mastectomy. Everyone is different but it can take quite a long time. Just listen to your body and rest when it tells you. It's not only the bad cells that are killed off with Chemo but good ones too and they have to regenerate.

I would be inclined to say it's the whole situation and the grim reality of it all. I hate my one boob, my prosthesis, my Lymphoedema sleeve and glove, my weight gain and my Hot flushes, just to name a few!!
People around you think that everything is fine now, hair grown, back at work etc. etc. but I feel like a completely different person xx

Hi everyone and great to hear good results. I went for my first Mammogram on the other boob after a Mastectomy. After waiting for weeks I got my results saying they were "Satisfactory". They said they would have called me back if there was a problem but I still feel a little worried. "Satisfactory" wasn't much good on your school report! neither good nor bad. Not a great choice of words.

I was diagnosed with an Underactive Thyroid almost 30 years ago. I have taken 150mcg Thyroxine for most of the time with only changing when I was pregnant. Since my Chemo, Surgery and Radio my dose has changed to 125mcg.for no apparent other reason.

I have also just been to the Warrington Womanzone. It was great. I'm a 32D and short in the body so I always have had trouble finding a cossie. They are making me a cossie and a two piece with matching skirt, in my choice of fabric, neckline and back design. I think they will be great. The girls are really experienced and very helpful.I also bought a lovely Mastectomy bra and swim Prosthesis.

There is a company called Womanzone in Warrington,Cheshire and they do Prostheses that are like a hollowed out orange skin that fit over your boob and fill out your bra if you are lopsided.They also do made-to- measure swimwear and they are great. They have a mail-order catalogue and do some nice bras too. Hope that helps.

From what I know and have had it used a couple of times, it lifts the skin slightly and enables the Lymph fluid to circulate better as it creates a larger space for it to circulate, as the lymph system is so close to the surface of the skin. I found it very good and had it placed across my back which helped the swelling from around my body where the side of my bra goes (if that makes sense.)Unfortunately I was sensitive to the actual tape and can't use it. I really do think it works.

I had a MX just a year ago and at the time I asked to have the healthy breast removed too. They just said it was out of the question as it wasn't a genetic form and that I'd feel different in 2 years time. I don't feel any different and doubt very much that I will. I hate having one boob and would be much happier without any and wish I had pushed more for what I wanted as now I don't feel like going through it all again.

I would certainly recommend asking anything that is bothering you however small or trivial (which it isn't) it may seem. Get everything clear in your mind if that's possible. I went NHS myself as I didn't have the option but I can honestly say I have had fantastic treatment. I have had to sit waiting for hours which may have been quicker if you are private. I gather there are drugs available to you in the private sector that aren't on the NHS but generally I would think that mostly the drugs that are available are fine. I would think it would be needed only in exceptional circumstances. I think as far as Chemo and Radio is concerned then the treatment is exactly the same. The only problem is that I believe you can't dip in from one to the other. There are also Rehab services available on the NHS and I'm not sure if they are if private, such as Acupuncture, Massage and Relaxation classes, so it may be worth checking in your area.

As I have said on a previous post, some people are just luckier than others as to how the body reacts to Tamoxifen and weight gain. I know a number of girls who completely agree with me. I am now exercising and doing just as much as before diagnosis and treatment but am a stone heavier. I eat very little and watch what I eat so it shows that everyone is different and as i said before,some luckier than others.

I finished Chemo just over a year ago and just recently I have had the Heartbeat in your Ear thing. The only difference is it was the right ear. Someone told me it's to do with Blood Pressure.I have had spots in all sorts of funny places as if the gunge is trying to get out of my body!
