Gilbo im so sorry,I know exactly where you are now.I still miss my mum 22yrs after she died but it gets easier and you will be able to remember your happy times with a smile rather than tears.Make the most of the time you left with her,there are still some moments to come that you will be able to remember in later years.I know how you feel when you say your children wont remeber her,my kids were only 8 and 6 when their gran died but they both have photos have her and they still listen intently with big smiles when I tell them of the things she did and the fun they had with the most wonderful gran in the world,their memories of her,kept alive through myself are so very precious to them.although they cant actually remember her she is still very special to them amd im sure it will be the same for your children,your mums memory will live on through you.Sending my love to you all, Di.x ... Hi Funki, Im with 1J,sorry that your here but you will get lots of support.Its good that your OH is very supportive but your very close friends and family will also be a support too(mine were).Some of my friends were able to keep me laughing in spite of bc whilst others were there when I needed a shoulder to cry on,others just good to listen when I needed a rant.The hardest part was telling my daughters even tho they are adults now.But if you want to keep it to yourself then thats fine too.This is one time when you can be as selfish as you damn well please.Good luck and best wishes, Di.x ... I dont understand why everyone is differentiating between secondary and primary posters.We are all fighting bc and should be supportive of each and everyone of us.Newly diagnosed ladies arent stupid,some will be in the same position as me having lost loved ones and will gain comfort from hearing from secondary ladies whp are doing well and those who dont want to read the secondary threads dont have to.I for one am inspired by most of the secondary ladies.Love and best wishes to all,united we stand.xxx Di.x ... Hi all,Im a primary bc lady but often read the secondaries posts because they give me hope for a future,When I was diagnosed in 2010 the only other 2 people in my life who had been diagnosed with bc,my mum and aunt,had both died from secondaries(albeit quite a few years ago) so when I was diagnosed I immediately thought thats it then,a death sentence.However reading the posts from the secondaries ladies has made me realise that if I am unfortunate enough to join your club at some time in the future,there is a future for me,so I dont consider myself `cured or a survivor`but Im living my life as best I can not knowing if cancer will return,either this year,next or in 10 or 20 yrs.There are times when im positive about it and times when im sure it WILL come back and get me.But whatever happens,you ladies are an inspiration to all of us primaries and I wish you all the best as you continue your lives. totally agree with applestreet,I remember seeing bernie nolan on this morning making light of having bc,i remember thinking how much easier it would be for the rest of us if we were financially secure and could afford to have help and not worry how we would pay the bills whilst we fight this hideous disease.I do wish her well and hope that people realise it is not so easily overcome as some of the celebrities affected make it out to be. Hi,Do you carry the brca1 or 2 gene? I had my ovaries removed and my daughter will have hers removed when she is 35 as we both tested positive for brca1 which means your risk of developing ovarian cancer is 50%.
