Hi I was also diagnosed with underactive thyroid, shortly after chemo and radiotherapy. My GP thought it could be linked but Oncology said not. Also on arimidex and now bordering on diabetes, so keeping eye on that. My opinion has always been that any medication will fix one problem and cause another...... Hi, I have been taking Arimidex since Aug 2011. I do/have had a few SE's but I keep thinking of the reason why I take it!!! No hot flushes for me just joint pain so I take Glucosamine for this. Trigger thumbs but these are rare - trust me to get it 🙂 Had Bone Scan at beginnig so Onc happy to prescribe Arimidex. Yes I am tired but I do now work full time and body has been through a lot of trauma so this is expected. I take mine in the evening as recommended by a few ladies on here as if you are to feel nauseaous this would be at night. Good luck x ... View more

Hi Hel I had a port and certainly think it was worth it. Bit painful on first day of going in but probably nothing compared to trying to find veins all the time. I had 3 FEC and 10 Taxol (should have had 12 but too poorly at the time) and not sure my veins would have coped with all this. They give you cream to numb the area just before your infusions although mine didn;t always want to play. So the nurses and me had great fun around the room trying to get the port to allow my blood through for testing before the infusions. Certainly worth it. I do have a small scar where it was - had it taken out soon after chemo finished. Go for it as it will save your veins. I still have regular blood tests via my veins now and each time iti s more painful as they don't like it!!! Plus as I had axillary clearance they didnt want to use that side and therefore my right arm would not have coped week after week. ... View more

Hi Neekie, you have come to a wonderful supportive site. Sincerely wish you did not have to join us but everyone on this site is very helpful. Two years ago almost to the day I was also planning my funeral (Diagnosed 15/12/10). I know it is the worst news ever but it is doable and at times you will think the opposite! I am sure you will be advised not to google too much and also accept help whenever offered. You will have blue days of course, but remember there is light at the end. Evening Ladies, well done ladies. Even if we haven't lost at least we are trying to do something about it. Apologies for not posting last night, went out for the day. Glad to report that have been a very good girl for the week and managed to lose 1.5 pounds of my holiday weight. I will keep going as like a lot of you I do not want to buy any new clothes as have plenty that I like. Hi ladies, I was having my radiotherapy this time last year, and can sympathise as also on the large side. I used to roll up clean hankies into a roll and place under my breast which stopped the chafing and only wore vest tops as was recommended not to wear bras during the treatment. The heat didnt help either. Hope you find this useful. ... View more
