hugs to all who need them - hopefully you will feel better soon and for those awaiting test results / appointments hope the news is good - Iit is a worrying time until l you know for sure what is going onr My tooth still causing problems  - now on giant sized pain killers (which seemed to work after the first dose but have not had much effect since) and anti biotics.  Dentist wants to do a root canal filling on Weds but I am getting a bit iffy about it - I wonder whether I would be better saying a fond farewell to the offending tooth - it is one that I have had a lot of trouble iwht over the years and i don't think I will miss too much - it is the back molar - so perhaps I could manage without it - could certainly manage without the pain!  one of young GS comments made me chuckle the other day - "i  was talking to my friends - the one with short hair, the one with long hari and the one with the donkey tail" ... Glad to hear that millie dog is so much better, grumpy.  Rev Cat - pleased to hear that your eye problem, tho very annoying, is not anything sinister - hope it improves soon.  Please don't even consider avoiding breathing Ali - that is a very drastic solution to the flushes!  I amsitting on the tooth ache-y bench today - saw the dentist last week and told her that I was getting periodic pain in back tooth, she took  xray, but as I have not heard from her since, I assume that there was nothing to show.  However, my tooth thinks otherwise!  It is very painful and even woke me up last night - unheard of - I can usually sleep through anything (apologies to all of you who battle with insomnia).  The problem is added to as my dentist only works one day a week!!!! so I have to wait till next Weds to see her again.  Going to try inhaling  decongestion hot pot in case it is actually nothing to do with teeth at all and is in fact sinus related - it can't do any harm.  Grandsons went off to their first day at school on Tuesday and they both looked so smart in their new uniforms - it won't last though, especially with the younger one (they are 6 months apart) who can look scruffy ten minutes after a thorough wash and brush up!  Hope they both continue to enjoy life at 'big school'.   Weather here is glorious again today but forecate for rain tomorrow, so will have to make the most of today.    ... Hi All,   Thanks for the welcome back messages and the help regarding jumping to the first unread message - tho I think I must still be doing something basically wrong 'cos I am still just landing on the latest post.  Nevermind - I can cope!    Rev Cat, hope all goes well with your appointments  Lovely thought that I deserve a Nobel Prize - but I think I would certainly not deserve one  - I was not that good a hostess.  Our visitors didn't give us much say in the matter of timescale - they invited themselves and didn't tell us for how long  until about a month before they arrived when an email came giving  the times of their flights and when I needed to be in London to collect  from / return to the airport.  OH found it almost as difficult a 3 months as I did - his brother is not really his favourite person - which in a way made it easier for me cos I was at least able to moan to him when it all got too much.  Two of my grandsons start school this week - I think they are both looking forward to it  - I hope that they enjoy it.  It will be very strange to see them in their uniforms - they will look so grown up!            ... Hello all,  Haven't posted for  a while - a long while - probably 4 or 5 months now, but have been keeping up with everything - loved the murder mystery and the MMU sounded great.    Can anyone give me idiot proof instructions on how to get easily to the last unread message?  Hope all is going well for you all and that all tests and treatments are going well.   Had visitors  this summer - they emailed earlier in the year and asked if they could stay here - but conveniently forgot to mention that they intended to stay for 3 months!!!  Admittedly they did go out on day trips and a few 'short breaks' away but  based with us for 3 months ?  They  have now returned home and I am slowly recovering and home is beginning to feel like home again.  Could have been worse I suppose but  my BIL is not my favourite person (nor OH's so at least I was able to moan freely!)   Other happenings - I have hatched 4 chicks from eggs - so cute! Big problem though, can't tell whether I  have hens or cockerels - and I don't think that the neighbours  (or I!) could cope with the noise of 4 cockerels in the back garden.  But 'sexing' the birds is almost as tricky as getting the the last unread post.       ... JCJ I just love the tiaras you have made and want to ask can I wear it when I'm in role? or will that look just tooo silly? I am still practising my lowing for the cattle stall though. My grandson had a bit of 'lamb' practice at the rehearsal for the chuuch nativity yesterday - didn't stay still very long though and it wasn't helped by his 3 year old brother being the shepherd 'in charge' of him. Wonder what will happen at the performance? my 4 year old GS is playing Joseph and he is very likely to tell them off from the stage if they don't do what they should be doing at the right time. I have been trying to keep the hay clean for the baby, when do mum and dad arrive and how soon after that can we expect the vey important baby and all the rest of the cast in the stable .... Katytc what would you like on said jumper - can do a good line in snowmen, robins, Christmas trees and snowflakes. Got the pattern for reindeer somewhere but in a virtual world who needs patterns ? - you name it and it can be done! Just name your colours and I will knit one up in no time at all. Perhaps we ought to have all the characters in our latest play - could easily do the spider, sheep and cows - I've got patterns for those. ... View more

Thanks, Grumpy, I will get some practice with the moos - the real things are now safely in the barn after their field got knee deep in water yesterday and they decided that they would rather wander around the garden of the posh house next door than paddle knee deep in water and mud! Oops - holes in the said posh house lawn - OH and I will have to help SIL fill in the holes and roller the ground flat again once it has dried out. Still every cloud, as they say.... it now means that I can do my practise in the warm and dry instead of out in the field! Been raining again today and more is on the way! Busy knitting all the grandsons special 'christmas jumpers' - YD let her son try one on when out shopping and merrily said - Nanny can knit you one better than that - hence now up to my arm pits in wool and bits of jumper waiting to be sewn up. Wow I didn't even notice that my post had hit the magical 3000 point! Certainly cause for a party - should we perhaps combine the celebrations with an after show do? Or is that too sensible? I had good news today - my first check up with the surgeon since surgery and radio therapy fiinished and he was pleased with how well I had healed. No appointments now until my mammogram next May. Somehow this post managed to land up as number 32 so now i am probably not number 3000 after all! ... View more

Grumpy, I originally asked for the part of one of the wise women - well I've got experience of being the second part of the name ---but the first???? Perhaps I had better audition for the part of one of the shepherds - I have previous experience of this role - OK it was a long time ago - about 57 years and I didn't remember my lines that well at the time but I promise I will practise till i'm word perfect this time! Maybe it would be a good idea cos then I might be able to control my youngest grandson who has already got the part of one of the lambs. The cows (real ones) I offered to do the gentle mooing are looking a bit more like water buffalo today there is so much water on their field - tomorrow they they are being moved into a barn to dry out. Tomorrow I have my first visit to the breast clinic tsince surgery and radio therapy - hopefully will be on hte annual check ups from now on - fingers crossed anyway. C ... View more

Can I be the 3rd wise woman please? I'd like to try riding a camel - not sure how good I will be at it though. Used to manage to stay on the donkeys on the beach many years ago - is riding animals anything like riding a bike in that you should be able to do it again if you have managed it before? I really like the sound of the ice skating camels - but will that make it more difficult for me to balance? AliH what colour glitter would you like - haven't any in stock so I can certainly order the right variety to match with you. My grandson lamb would make a good hot water bottle as written in the script if we can just get him to sleep before the performance - if he is awake he won't stay still long enough! the play sounds great. I haven't posted lately but have been keeping up to date with the post, helps keep me on the straight and narrow! I can offer a flock of sheep - or perhaps just the couple who were hand-reared might be better as they are more 'human friendly' and won't run a mile when approached. (will need to borrow them from daughter but she won't mind!) Alternatively we could just borrow her youngest son( 16 months) who is in training as a lamb for the church nativity play - her idea - she thought that if dressed as alamb rather than a shepherd or angel as was suggested, it wouldn't matter if he wandered off! Plenty of hay available too - along with a couple of cows to moo at the required moment? Could we have some chickens - they are mine so no need to ask daughters permission for them although they live with her cos I haven't got enough room in my garden. I am willing to be /do whatever is needed - I was a shepherd once in the nativity play and supposed to say 'lets put some more stickes on the fire' which usually came out as 'dicks on the dire' but apparently as we used coal at home I changed at the performance anyway - to lets put some more coal on. well I was only 4 at the time but looked very fetching in my tea-towel!
