One good thing about having my ipad is being able to keep in touch with everyone and everything whilst in hospital. Good news I have been released for good behaviour, and hoping not to return. I had the GCFS injection yesterday and the neutrofils have behaved, but it really gave me back pain, but coped easily once I had paracetamol. I will now have this automatically. Evening ladies, thanks for all your kind wishes. Maisiecake, just phone your cancer nurse who should get you an appt. with the surgeon fairly quickly. I had the same thing, but with some slight swelling to my hand. They are just going to keep an eye on it, I only had one node removed! Since I have been in hospital they have done everything on my op side as the cannula is on the other, so I know how you feel:( Mel A it's fine to take ibuprofen, so long as not taking aspirin aswell. Evening ladies, I am writing this from my hospital bed as admitted yesterday with Neutropenic sepsis. Felt rough all day but my tympanic thermometer said my temp was ok, until my eldest daughter gave me a hug and realised I had a temp! Used another thermometer and temp was 39.1...needless to say have been in hospital since and won't be home till Tuesday. All staff here fantastic all test done and started an antibiotics and antiviral s within an hour. Feel much better today, but a good lesson learnt, take note of what your body tells you, not the thermometer. Have a good week all xx ... View more

Well ladies your posts have really made me laugh today! People seriously do say the daftest things. i have been known on occasions saying to some people that I have cancer and have not been hit with the stupid stick, but then usually for the first 7 days after chemo I do act like I have been hit by the said stupid stick. Hi March13, my diagnosis is almost identical as yours and I was given them on March 13th. What you are feeling is completely natural , it's a fear of the unknown. I started on fEC in April and am part of the awesome April angels, a group of women who all started chemo in April. It is worth looking at these posts as it is very reassuring knowing there are others going through the same as you. Great tips on getting through chemo and its side affects. To be fair I have found chemo no where near as bad as I expected. FEC cycle 2 day 10 evening lovely ladies, would like a bit of advice please. next Wednesday I am booked to have a PICC line prior to my 3rd cycle. Although I have good veins, I am still suffering extreme tenderness in my veins from my last cycle of FEC. My wonderful family and friends, so many words of kindness from people I didn't really know that well before. the wonderful staff at the NHS who have been so wonderful to me and my family, and giving me the best care possible. Evening ladies, love to catch up with you all at the end of the day. so sorry Kim hearing your sad news,but with others in that your stepsister is very lucky having you. I am now cycle 2 day 8! Like you all its been a mixed week with the s/e will hopefully be having a change of meds on next cycle. One thing I have noticed though is that although the inside of my mouth feels different, I have not have any soreness, ulcers etc. I am wondering if this has anything to do with the dUrophat 5000 that my dentist prescribed. I've not even needed mouthwash, perhaps this will help. chemo brain is still alive and kicking, phoned my hairdresser to book my wig in for the FRIDGE to be cut. Three times I said it... Fortunetly she did a lovely job, but still prefer my scarves and hats. Saw my surgeon today and he thought I was practising for the notting hill carnival with my latest scarf. I've gone from all black to carribean. anyone else wearing a night cap? Since loosing my hair I find my head gets really cold at night. I am having a PICC line insitu on 22/5, although had to really push for it and four follow up calls to ensure I had not been forgotten. With all the problems some of you have had with your cannulas it is proberly worth pushing to! Mine has been sorted out by the oncology nurse. Good luck x ... View more

morning all. Primrosehill, Emend is not given here in Norwich on first treatment, although I know in many hospitals it is protocol. I think everyone should have it. I'm also with you on the shaving of head, the stubble seems to treat my pillow like Velcro? So will be getting my husbands electric razor out to finish the job. My chemo dementia has kicked in nicely again, for the first few days after the FEC I m talking gobbledygook, getting better today but have written it down in diary just to make sure I don't make any major decisions after future cycles. Evening ladies, as ever mixed day for everyone. So glad to see that some have managed to give up the fags, unfortunately I am still on them! I have never smoked many but really need now to go the extra and give up. Now day2 cycle 2 and apart from the wired up feeling from thesteroids have had another great day. I put it all down to the apretent, it's just fantastic not having that terrible nausea, feel I can face the world now. Good luck to you all. Philomena xx ... View more
