Hello all, today is my anniversary of dx and I feel compelled back to the forum on this milestone and it's lovely to see that we're all reaching this point in good health and good mammogram results. I have mine on Tuesday followed by my 6 month review with the surgeon on the 5th which means I'll have to dash off after lunch but I'm so looking forward to seeing those that are coming. X ... So pleased for you Janey, I was thinking of you yesterday. Fingers crossed for your next scan. Have a lovely holiday Carol. I'm sat in the Herceptin chair at the moment , number 8. I finished radiotherapy 2 weeks ago and think my energy is returning now but have been tired. Skin has been ok luckily. I too am finding moving on a strange experience, relieved main part of treatment is over and in the past but still not relaxed enough to enjoy the present. I've signed up for a HOPE course starting in November for 6 weeks. Anyone else doing that? It was so lovely to meet the others last week and the food, skilfully picked by Susy, was delicious. Hello, good to see your updates. Well done for those finishing rads. I start my 3 weeks tomorrow like Shelley. I'm slowly getting back to normal, still tired out though. I too think that removing ability to read latest posts is going to affect many users and the way they browse. I love the look of new forum and find it so much easier to navigate to the sections (especially the monthly chemo threads) but I think it's important to have a link somewhere for users to see the latest posts. This way those who have been through an experience can help others. I think it's often hard to pigeon hole all the threads that might be of interest to me when going through something so new and frightening as breast cancer. That way Latest posts was the answer. Hoping you will reconsider. One minor thing, on mobile version the title of threads are too large so it's hard to read the topic. And I don't think it pulls in the most recent threads in the category pages on mobile either. ... View more

Hello Marchies, I'm recovering well from op 2 weeks ago and had my post op check today. Got clear margins and just one lymph node involved and grade downgraded from a 2 to a 1 which is good. However the amount of shrinkage to tumour wasn't that much in the end but hey it doesn't matter now since it's gone! I was dreading it today so glad i didn't get any further bad news. Rads will start in a couple of weeks for 3 weeks and I started tamoxifen tonight. Fingers crossed for that. Nora, so glad you've finished chemo now and hope the last set of se's are ok. Thanks for all your good wishes, the op went well and I came out of hospital the day after and had my drain removed yesterday. Sore and tired still but recovering well. Hello Marchies, I've woken early on day of my op (mx and anc). I'm going in at 10.30 - feel very odd, bit like I'm going on holiday (packing bags etc) I'm now 4 weeks post chemo and starting to regain energy, shame I have to have the op now really, but it will be good to move forward. Shelley, really hope it went ok today and you recover quickly. Scottydog, hope scan goes well on Wednesday. I think having chemo before surgery has been so hard mentally as my bad boob is constantly on my mind so really sympathise. I'm having herceptin tomorrow, first time on its own so will be interested to see if any se's - really hoping not. Here's the muesli bar recipe from my friend, I didn't have all the ingredients so missed out a few things like wheatbran and I used olive oil and flaxseeds instead of linseeds. They were bit crumbly when I cut them so I may try adding more honey or cooking on lower temp next time - prob 180c. I use a mug – any size will do. 2 cups of porridge oats 1/3 cup brown sugar ¾ cup wheatbran 1/3 cup linseeds 1 cup brown flour (I use spelt) ¾ cup chopped dried fruit (raisons \ apricots \ dates etc) 1/3 cup desiccated coconut 1 cup mixed seeds and (optional chopped nuts) Pinch of salt Pinch of cinnamon (optional) 1 egg ½ cup veg oil (or cocnut oil to be super healthy) ½ cup honey *Tip – put oil into cup first then top with honey to stop it sticking to sides of cup Smooth into greaseproof covered tin and bake for 20 – 30 mins (until golden brown on top) You can basically add anything you want too – spoonful of peanut butter works too. ... Thanks Scottydog, day 2 tax & herceptin and so far feeling good but have found that fatigue and aches hit me a few days later. I was very tired last cycle so hoping that isn't as bad this time. Made some muesli bars yesterday with lots of good things in to boost iron, a friend sent me the recipe. Rest of family love them too. Mungos mum likened finishing chemo to climbing up a large hill and putting your flag at the top. I really like this! So I'm at the top with Nipinuk and Roadshow. However the view isn't so good at the moment due to fog and my flag is waving in the wind a lot :). So who is the next to join us?
