It is very quiet on here. Perhaps on summer holidays ? We are planning on a couple of short breaks soon but hoping to go to the US later in the year. We should perhaps make a meeting point and time for the Saturday maybe late afternoon to allow for travel ? The hotel is not in the city so we would need to stay there or travel into Oxford ? Jo my BCN gave me my mammo result but she had rung about something else maybe 10 days or so after. Then got a letter in post. Hope all goes well. Zuzy where are you off To? And Marie enjoy the last part of your holiday. We haven't got any big holiday plans yet. ... View more

Hello all Had a similar experience to Sarah last week ie a less than inspiring appointment with an oncologist who didn't seem at all informed. Fortunately my GP had already told me my latest scan still showed pneumonitis not cancer but he didn't seem to know anything about it. I hate to think what it would have been like if there had been bad news. I had no confidence in him so didn't follow up on some questions. Do you think we should do anything about these unsatisfactory consultations ? I have, of course, had some great care from the nhs too, but I know i don't want to see this one Again? Thanks Aly. Sorry to hear of your anxiety. I find it hard to trust anything to do with my body- even 'good news' I find difficult to have complete faith in. A lot of the time I am pretty positive, however. I also think tamoxifen has an effect on mood- makes me irritable a lot of the time and affects sleep- could that be contributing? Hi moonbeams Good to see your posts and sorry to hear of struggles, inevitable I think. It is, as my mum used to say, two steps forward, one step back. And sometimes feels the other way round. I have also been away for a few days, doing some walking, well hobbling actually, in the rain. Managed to damage toe and had to see GP. Got scan report. Good news, no cancer on lung or liver ! Shadow on lung remains, but 'partially' reduced so doc thought would need further treatment. See onc next week. Jo and Sarah- i too get very tired. Came home from work early and lying in bed at the moment which I often need to do and I am not full time! It is at least reassuring that you feel the same because perhaps it is to be expected. I think I must have run on adrenalin when we went to Japan! Have ct scan next week - hope to forget about it all to go away with friends at Whitsun and then Onc and results. Hope the promised good weather stays around so we can enjoy walking in Wiltshire Berkshire countryside. How are those on tamoxifen doing? My hot flushes seem less dramatic but more frequent sweaty/clammy my episodes. Lovely! ... View more

Aly - have a fantastic night tonight doing the moonwalk- I would love to do this - maybe next year. Namaste really good to hear from you, heading out into the open after such a long stint with treatment- emerging is not simple- none of it is- but keep looking forward and well done. May is full of memories. This time last year I was so apprehensive about facing the world with newly shorn head ( got well brazen to that). I remember it all felt so uncharted. Waiting for ct scan again re cough but think I have noticed an improvement recently. Still get tired and achey though and never sure what to make of it. Well May is nearly here now. My first chemo was on the 3rd May last year and I think some of the moonbeams started before me so anniversary sooner. I shall be out celebrating with oh and best friends- another milestone. A pity Aly can't do 13th- would the Sunday 14th be possible as it would be so good to include everyone? Hope you are all well. Good to hear good news but also to know that you all understand how the uncertainties remain a remote spectre- other people don't really see that. May 2014- bring it on! ... View more

I am still in another time zone and wide awake in the middle of the night. Monday night I got up and wrote my resignation letter which I took into work yesterday. It suddenly seemed the right thing. Lots of other factors, not just cancer and carpe diem. So I shall live on sea air and love (or OH) and see what happens. Hope all moonbeams thriving as we approach May. x ... View more

Hope you are all having a relaxing holiday weekend. Good to catch up and hear happy news, very pleased for Sarah and glad to hear from you. By the way can do Sept 13 too. Jet lagged at the moment but had a brilliant holiday in Japan, the cherry blossom against the sharply blue eastern skies was so uplifting. We travelled around central section of Japan, snowcapped mountains, soaring cityscapes, gardens, shrines and my boy of course. I am still affected a bit by lung pneumonitis but this holiday felt like a real watershed, a new beginning. Hope this continues and for all of you too. X ... View more

Hi moonbeams Well I should be off to Japan tomorrow! All been a bit chaotic and even yesterday my GP wanted another blood test to check for infection. I have to ring the surgery from Heathrow for result and if necessary get the antibiotics from doc in Japan! ! Seems mad. Think I am adjusting to the steroids for lung problem now, feeling less bonkers so although not quite full throttle I am off! will look forward to catching up on return and I hope all of you the restful and happy Easter break you so deserve.
