Hi Rebecca I have friend who retired early from the NHS, she was allowed to return to work, after a 6 week break provided she did not work more than 16 hours a week. another did the same but had problems with her pension because altho she worked less than the 16 hours permitted, her income was high. perhaps if you are a member the union may advise you good luck Marge xx ... Hi Liz, I feel for you, I had a similar experience, went for 3 core biopsies before my bc was confirmed, so tha made it nearly a month long wait, it was hell. Great news lass, I too am 2 years post diagnosis in April. just been for my 6 month check, all *appears ok*and providing my mammo is ok in April (ish) will go to yearly checkups. Fingers crossed. You are right about gradually feeling your old self again, it takes time, I remember the days I could not even walk to the end of the street, and a week ago I spent a hectic 5 days in the states. Hi Corsa.............I have lots of stabbing pains still and I finished my treatment November 06, op in April 06, I also noticed it seemed more tender while I was having chemo, please discuss it with your chemo nurse , they are great . Hi Fizbix, I had a 4cms lump, no nodes, no hormone treatment for me. Was given the option of chemo, my choice. decided to go with it. ha 6 EC, which was doable...........followed by 15 rads. Hi Greenbean, I had 6 x EC last year like yopu I was scared, but I was quite well on it, no sickness or nausea, started to feel fatigued after 3rd sesssion, and it gradually worsened. Generally , the first few days on the steroids you were full of energy, then the second week a bit tired, the third week normal and then back to square one 🙂 Good luck Hugs marge xx ... View more

Hi Irisb, I too had a grade 3 agressive cancer and was given the choice of chemo, the enefit of it being a low percentage, but I grabbed the chance as I was hormone negative, no herceptin et. I understand chemo is very effective on grade 3 tumours. I was also told I had a 50/50 chance of a recurrence, so hair loss or not I went for it. I got thro it all and am out the other side now, I dont regret my decision for a moment, cos I know i have done all I can .Ok hair loss was an awful thing, but it has grown back now, and I wasn't to poorly on EC chemo. Hi Maria I too had 3 core biopsies, at weekly intervals, I told them from day one, just remove the lump, but they wouldn't proceed until they had the sample and information they wanted, eventually they got it on the 3rd biopsy, and I had my WLE a week later. Hi Jackie, I had 6xEC last year and tried the cold cap, my hair started to thin and I persevered for 3 sessions, then decided it was a waste of time. Gradually it got thinner and thinner, but did not fall out completely, I wore my wig most of the time, then just before my last tretament I shaved the remainder off, up till then I couldn't let it go 🙂 I did meet one lady who had very thick hair, and she kept most of hers, altho it did thin down along the top. Yes I am in the upper age group too, like horace dx at 62, grade 3 trip neg, 4 cm lump, had 6 x EC, then 15 rads starting one year ago tomorrow, all scary stuff, but have come out the other end and making the most of life. Good luck girls Hugs marge ... View more
