I had my first mastectomy in 2003 and had no intention of having a reconstruction. I wore a prosthesis and felt very comfortable with it , but lopsided when I didn't (well, one would ) In 2010 I have my 2nd mastectomy and although I was happy to go around with one breast for 7 years, I feel much more comfortable now. My reasons for not wanting any sort of reconstruction are multiple, many, probably not very logical, but the way I am now is right for me. All the best to those who are living breast free. xx ... I just googled my user name and bcc forums and I could read my biographies and all the threads I posted on. If anyone can do this, I don't feel safe. So I won't be sharing much with anyone. Mastectomy and chemo (4xEC), 5 years of tamoxyfen and arimidex for 1 year. 2010 bc in the other breast. Mastectomy, grade 3, invasive ductal, 1.1 cm, sentinal node + 2 others negative, triple neg. To celebrate the new forums, I am just posting here to say Hi to all those who "know" me and welcome to any who don't. I was diagnosed with bc in 2003 the first time (and again in 2010) and so will be posting in Oct or November to announce my 10 years  after my annual scan.  These new forums take a bit of getting used to, but they are worth it, I have met such a lot of wonderful people. Our little group is meeting up mid Sept. We have met  up for real many times since meeting here. Virtual friends that have become real friends. Such support is great. Take care of yourself everyone. 18 of us who were on this thread are still in contact and continue to support each other and meet up when we can. I have decide to resuscitate this old thread, just to let those who followed us in 2010 and 2011, and any newbies that need some good news, that we are all still here. It has not been plain sailing for all of us, one of us had to have more chemo and rads and another is playing the waiting game again at this very moment. My first diagnosis was 10 years ago, and I had a new primary in 2010 (when I started this thread), so I am very happy to still be here. Plenty of things have happened since then and most of them have nothing to do with bc, which is why I don't come here very often. However I can only repeat what I have said before: I am humbled by reading the posts of all those people facing what we faced in 2010, and by those who have never left and continue to support the newbies and each other. I was a newbie once and I will never forget those who supported me. I am sorry that my life has got in the way of coming here more often to support everyone. To those who have been here from the beginning, you know what you mean to me, to those who I have had the privilege to meet, I am so grateful to you, and to all those who have the curiosity to come to our thread, welcome, take care of yourselves and know that you will get great strength and support for the forums and will meet some wonderful people. To the bcc staff thank you for all you do to enable us to meet and support each other, it means such a lot, and helps us more than you can imagine. Thankyou Pina, Quail, and Jackwagstaff for posting again Southpool, you are proof that the forums are working even now with all their difficuties, we were lucky in 2010 because everything worked pretty easily, but you are proof that with insistance you can get the precious help from those in similar situations to yourself. One more day for this thread, thankyou everyone for posting. I have had difficuties keeping the post on the first page due to the nature of the forums as they are at the moment. I decieded not to complain until the first of November, but now i dont need to because the forums are going to be rebuilt, thank goodness. In 2010 the forums helped me get through a difficult period in my life. As well as our class of of 2010, there were plenty of others who helped me through, and I could not start to name everyone, so to anyone who was around in 2010/2011 a BIG thankyou too.
