awww Maddy congrats my eyes are watering at the thought of 9lb 1oz. As for your dilemma not sure what else to sugest other than ring up the pathology department personally and ask them for the results and ensure they actually got there. Hi Maddy Sorry you have to wait for so long, presumably you have asked the BC nurse or consultant, because I would have thought if they have started you on Tamoxifen then they should have your hormone status and that you are positive. My consultant also said it depends on whether or not you are pre or post menopausal to which drug they start you, his choice is tamoxifen for pre armidex for post. Hi and thanks again for all the messages. My breast is looking a nice pink now rather than bright red so I guess the tablets are doing their job I am off to Bruges for the weekend prior to the operation to visit the christmas markets so I am looking forward to that, and to try and put the op out of my mind for a short time, and that helps. Hi Sorry to take so long to get back, and thanks for the replies I went to the A&E dept not long after posting my letter and was admitted imediately into hospital I had suspected IBC but fortunately it was severe infection and I have been on IV antibiotics for 4 days, they let me out today on oral medication, but my op has been postponed for 2 weeks, cos the infection has to be completely cleared before he will do it, in case my wound gets infected. It has been a pretty traumatic time, and I am disappointed that I cannot have the op yet and this tumour is still inside, I should have had it out yesterday and back home recovering from that, but I should look on the bright side because the initial diagnosis from what I read could have been far worse Linda ... As everyone has said waiting is worse part, I was as I have said told last Thursday that I have BC and I feel as though it was weeks even months ago, I think I would have rather they taken this blessed thing out of my breast the following day, but the surgeon said I had to have 2 weeks of Tamoxifen 1st. I still dont know anything else about apart from needing the lumpectomy and radiotherapy. Not knowing is horrid. I went to see my GP today, and the hospital have not even informed him of the diagnosis, so he was as much use as a chocolate firegaurd, maybe I am just being impatient. (sorry Dr.) The good thing to come from all this is that I have Christams day off, which I was supposed to have been working, and both my kids are coming from Spain to spend it with us, so its not all bad. Liz and June thanks for your replies its good to know there are people out there who understand how I am feeling Liz the surgeons response "is it terminal?" was no it was definitely not terminal. I am having a lumpectomy and some of the surrounding tissue removed. Apparently one lymph node is enlarged and they are removing some of those too, after putting a die in to see if any more are affected. Thanks again X ... View more
