Firstly I am sorry you find yourself having to come on here at all, it is a worrying time for your mum, you and your family.
I dont really think anyone can give you the reassurances you or your mum are looking for, and the only way is wait for the results of the biopsy. The wait is the worse part of this disease, it is even worse than being told you have cancer, the uncertainty is awful. Hopefully the result will be good and it is infection which is highly likely, as you say you have looked at the statistics and you are aware 90% of lumps are benign,. If it is ok you can carry on with your lives and your mum will continue to have regular check ups.
However if the results are not favourable yes its devastating, but as a family you will pull together and get through it, the treatment is manageable and maybe your mum is a tougher cookie than you think, after all she bought you up to be a wonderful daughter.
I hope your mum gets good results when she goes back to the clinician, take care

yes get it checked, probably nothing but I found a lump in a similar place turned out to be recurrence, not trying to scare you but any abnormality needs to be checked out

Thanks Marguerite, I will ask, my main problems are that I have had a DVT and am very prone to infections, I do not feel too bad on chemo, I managed to work through it and had very little time off.
Lily I am going to go in and tell them I want everything, I know I am at risk but to me the risk of cancer returning is the greatest risk, seems this is now the 3rd time, and they are all high grade with vascular invasion. obviously chemo is doing its job and keeping it away from the major organs and the bones so I am prepared for that,
well will see what Saturday brings

Hi Ladies
saw the surgeon for the results today, 1.5 cm grade 3 ductal carcinoma ER+++ PR neg HER2 neg metastatic not a primary, fed by one large blood vessel. Margins were clear. I have to see onc next week but surgeon mentioned more rads, but I had rads there 1st time round, I didnt think. they gave it in the same place twice, surgeon said possibly not more chemo because of previous problems!!! I want everything thrown at it again.
Oh well best wait to till I see onc before jumping to conclusions

please do get it checked out, it may well be nothing but then again it could. I had what I though was a boney lump next to Mx site, even radiographer thought it was a bone when she palpated it, but it turned out to be a local recurrence.
Always better to be safe than sorry

After my2nd Dx I came out of clinical practice and am now clinical governance manager for surgery, so I often see what goes wrong!! not a good thing at times

I believe you are higher risk of it returning in a healthy side but it is only a slightly higher risk (not sure of the percentages)

sorry you are going thru this again. 1stly breast cancer is not the only cause of an inverted nipple but obviously cannot be ignored as it can be indicative of breast cancer as you are aware. It could also be oedema (fluid) around the wound site. A mammo US and biopsy will give you the results. I had a lumpectomy 1st time round followed by Mx 2nd time, my guess is if it is a recurrent BC then you will be offered a mastectomy but other options maybe discussed however I would seriously consider Mx, you could be offered immediate recon or something. Do not blame yourself IF it has returned no-one asks for breast cancer, it is indiscriminate.

after sometime away (sorry)I find myself having to come back because I have just been diagnosed for the third time 😞
This is a local recurrence which I had removed on 4th Jan and am waiting to see onc to find out what the further treatment is.
Any support is welcome and it would be nice to try and meet up with you soon
