Hi Petal 5, Thanks for the words of encouragement. The main problem thus far is trying to get comfy in bed. i am sleeping propped up in bed but it is so hard to sleep on my back. I am trying to think back to when i first had my mastectomy and how i coped then. i can't really remember it being this difficult. I guess it's the added discomfort of the abdomen being so uncomfortable. My son has brought me one of the nursing pillows. I am giving it a go, but guess it's trial and error. Any advice welcome. Hello all, I have just returned home after having my delayed reconstruction with a tram flap. Firstly, I am totally in love with having my new boob. I can not say that it has been an easy week. I will be very glad to be able to sleep in my own bed tonight. I have to say the treatment I have received has ranged from exceptional to the most bizarre. Never the less, I have lived to tell the tale. I have been nursed by some very dedicated, hard working, knowledgable, compassionate people. People who work in some very demanding circumstances. I've shed a few tears and had some very funny momments. Glad you are progressing well Tinfish. Hope you are loving your new boob too. It was lovely to read all your encouraging messages. Hi Tinfish, Really glad that all went well and you are home. Sorry that you are having problems Aliceblue.Hope you will soon be feeling better. I had a phone call whilst on holiday to say my operation date had been cancelled (due 19th July) but that they could do it on Thursday the 5th July . So here i am just going to ring the hospital and find out if the bed is still available. All my plans to get the houswork in order and everything else have gone out the window. Hi Tinfish, Yes it certainly seems like a very stressful time. I guess it is just the unknown isn't it? I like your style of keeping busy. Also getting your priorities right, def. the hair. Hi Tinfish, I am following this post with interest. I am also waiting for my delayed Diep reconstruction. I'm hoping it will be done in July or August. Hi all, I am also anxiously waiting for a date to go in for my diep reconstruction. I had a mastectomy in May 2010 followed by Chemo and rads. I was referred to the PS in May 2011 and got to see him in July 2011. I was then put onto his waiting list with a wait of approx. 2-3 months. Well I still do not have a date. I had a letter last month asking me if I still wanted to remain on the waiting list! I returned my form straight away as you can imagine saying yes. My GP insists that it is perfectly o.k. to take my blood pressure on my affected side. I like a coward do not protest but in future i will. I'm due for a reconstruction soon so i'm going to make sure they don't do anything to that side (other than give me a new boob 🙂 ... View more

Hi Shelly, I had several bad days where i longed to have my boob back. One day in particular i cried the whole day. Felt a total fool. So you are feeling just as you would expect. Hi Betty, You sound very much like i did when i had my MX and ANC last April. My wound was drained many times. My stitches remained in for around 5 weeks and i had 2 places where it broke through and leaked. I have to say that it did eventually heal but it took several months. Try to keep positive and it will eventually stop. My BCN kept telling me it is because the breast is a very vascular area. All the best from Angie ... View more

I finished my treatment in December 2010. I had a Mastectomy followed by 3 Fec and 3 Tax followed by 15 Rads. Yesterday was my first day back at work. I only did a 4 hour shift and when I returned home had to go to bed for an hour!! It was only then that I realised how exhausted I felt. You think that you are feeling better. You are looking better than you have been looking for a long time but reality is your body is still suffering. Hope things improve soon. ... View more
