Oh this one really got to me! A man was chatting to me on the radiotherapy unit while i was waiting to go in for my session and wait for it he said " one day you will understand cancer is a gift " by the way he is not diagnosed with a terminal cancer and does not wake up most days wondering how long he's got. I am 57, worked most of my life when not child rearing and I was dx Jan 2011 lumpectomy, feb mx, march spread to lymph nodes. Dx secs to bones may. Have had chemo, just about to complete 5 wks rads and on letrazole and bonderate. Been awarded DLA higher rate and have just received a medical questionnaire from ESA and I am worried that I will be turned down on the basis of the answers that I will give. Will this affect my DLA? I know that I am not fit for work both physically and emotionally but it seems these facts are irrelevant if I can climb 2 stairs etc. But if I have to sign on for work I will and I will be very honest with any potential employers. Hello fairy queen I can empathises with you I was down there last week and it seems incomprehensible that after feeling practically suicidal then I'm fine now ! I too have a lovely little granddaughter who just does my heart good and I get to spend time with her as often as I can - even though she tires me out 🙂 We just need to remember that tomorrow we will feel better sometimes I think that it's hormonal and I'm going to keep a diary to see if there's any patterns. Hi Jenna hope you're feeling a little better? Sometimes just writing it down helps. Maybe you could consider talking to someone the macmillian centres offer support to family as well. I know it's so hard for you I have a daughter myself that finds the whole thing traumatic and does her best to stay positive around me but I know she is frightened it's only natural. Hi girls I had a lovely time sat .it's so good to chat and feel free to say what you really want not what others want to hear. Looking forward to the next one in Oct. Well Issy Sunday was good and I went commando - well scarf less 🙂 much of the time was spent talking to us as opposed to actually doing so no manicure 😞 still It was a nice event and thank you once again lots of helpful hints and tips picked up. Carolyn The rads team were so nice to me on Monday actually they were totally understanding and the good news is...... No progression and all looking good so I can chill out and hopefully start get some decent nights sleep 🙂 pop! That was sound of the champers being opened that I'm going to drink tonight!!!! ... yes sometimes it seems that others dont care anymore but i suppose that life goes on for them while it seems that ours stands still and is all about treatments and cancer. I feel lonely sometimes when im down but at other times i make myself get up and go out for lunch or organise to meet up and chat about stuff other than how i am. Well once again my homeopathic fiend called to see how I am and as ever the conversation was geared to how wonderful her homeopathic treatments were and did i know how cancer attacks people who are very giving of themselves and nurturing of other people whilst not looking after themselves properly? Well thats about half the population if we count mothers and carers etc etc! So Let's guilt you even more for being a caring individual AND not taking my remedies that could make you so much better! Just returned from Amsterdam oh what a very welcome break! Turns out I was insured from annual policy so didn't bother worrying too much!!!! It was worth it re energised and set up for the remainder of the rads. It was so important to get away just from a psychological point of view and I must have walked miles! ... View more
