Hi all Glad you're all doing ok (?!) I shaved my head today - what a relief, much better than it coming outbid my hands 🙂 In a way I'm glad that the cold cap I had wasnt cold enough because at least I'm not stressing about it any more. Hi Shell Welcome to the Fab Februaries! I'm due for my next (2nd) chemo on Tuesday - and can definitely Confirm it's doable! I was really sick on the first day, which apparently means I'm very sensitive but they are trying new sick meds foe the next one. After the first couple of days I can honestly stay I improved each day. I've been using forever living aloe vera toothpaste which I think has really helped my mouth (no sores) And found lucozade helped me after being sick, as you need to drink but somehow water tastes vile. Hair has really started falling out today so contemplating shaving it tomorrow! Bit nervous but I guess once it's done it's done. Good luck to you with your treatment 🙂 xxx ... View more

Hi everyone ! It's mad isn't it? I've just had sickness etc for 24 hours in my third week! OH had it too so we think it was a bug. Kept an eye on my temperature and was ok so I didn't have to go into hospital - yay! Feeling better today so going to try and enjoy my last few more days before round two. Hey Loz I'm so glad you're feeling better, I was the same by day seven hopefully you'll feel even better tomorrow 🙂 Don't feel bad about your hair, I'm sure you look lovely, when you feel better it will affect you less, I'm sure! I put makeup on the last few days and it made a massive difference to me, so that may help too? Hi Hollygypsy and Knoxybabes I had my post chemo apt with my oncologist today and asked about this, as I'm v worried too (have bought eyebrow transfers, and fake eyelashes 🙂 She said that the loss of eyebrows and eyelashes doesn't affect everyone but it does depend on how you react to the medication (as I was very sick it's more likely mine will go!) ah well !! Hi all Jus a quickie to send everyone my love, Chris I'm so sorry about the blood clots, that must have been scary, i hope youre feeling a bit better now? knoxybabes welcome to the february group, your experience sounds darn scary too, but you will be ok, I'm sure they will explain everything to you and it will make sense (ish) if in doubt keep asking til you're clear. Lon, I can't imagine what it must feel like to be pregnant and about to be undergoing chemo, the only thing I can say is that you are stronger than you realise and for some reason 'doing' is better than worrying about it. My first chemo was actually ok, hopefully the anti sickness drugs will work or you and then you can still enjoy a bit of your birthday. I myself am on day 13, after the first horrible week every day has got better and I feel ok - also, really enjoying doing the little things like cooking and walks and shopping as it's so different from feeling so rough!! Re the injection I have it and it's to keep your immune system strong. So it's a good thing I think! Hi Fran Maybe the cold sore is stress related - you've been through a lot. zoviorax is supposed to be good? I would definitely ask about the painkillers as you have to monitor your temperature every day and they can mask a fever. It may be that you have to take codine or something instead. Sorry to hear you've still got pain in your arm, the cord in mine got a bit worse just before chemo but I think I was because I was doing too much - since the chemo I've rested more so it's been a bit better. Ps Loz, speaking of tips I've found lucozade fab so far for when I can't eat but need something 🙂 - try not to worry too much (although I worried my head off so it's definitely a case of do as I say not as I do haha) you can do this, we just have to remember it's not forever xxx Oooh also my wig arrived from simply wigs and I love it 🙂 Its not as thick as the one I got from the hospital so looks more like my real hair (well not exactly but feels less fake) xxx ... Hi all Just a quick update - after my walk yesterday started throwing up- nice! Went on for most of the night but feeling lots better now 🙂 Have let the docs know so hopefully there will be another option for next time. Also didn't do the cold cap on the end as I'm at home and they weren't cold enough! The nurse said they mostly don't work anyway, I don't know whether that's the specific type I had? Elaine, I'm so sorry to hear what you're going through, sending you a virtual hug and wish I could do more for I'm on fec-t for first time, so not the same stuff. Try and keep as positive as you can, it's so hard but this chemo you're having could knock it all on the head for you - you can do it!! Thanks Anne! I'm having everything at home and as I'm not qualified like you will let the nurse do it! My Dr just said it would help keep my immune up - don't know if it relates to my Fec dose. Fran, don't panic, I'm sure your teeth will be fine, I had just been between dentists and wanted to get them checked out as the treatment is supposed to make your mouth sore. I've also got some aloe vera toothpaste to try as apparently this helps too. Goodness knows if it will. I can't believe I said don't panic as I'm panicking - I think we'll feel better when it's happening, well I hope I will, don't do brilliantly with the fear of th unknown 🙂 xxx ... View more
