So glad everything came back clear Sal, I hope you're able to sortout your other problem quickly so you have piece of mind before starting your new job.   Tara I'm sure your mammogram will be fine but I know it's easier said then done. On the reverse I don't have any mammograms and worry. I sometimes get aches, shooting pains or the boob which had rads feels harder, what if I miss something? I have an appointment on the 19th Sept with my surgeon and feel apprehensive but hopefully everything will be OK. I need to decide if I want another round of lipo modelling. After I had the first op my boobs did feel softer however I think most of the fat has now absorbed back into my body. I read and my surgeon did say it could take up to 3 ops before you get the right results.   Sam and Jane, hope you're both keeping well and enjoyed your holidays, I'm back at work and mine seems like a distant memory now. Just catching up on posts, busy, busy, busy as usual. Sal I'm glad you managed to get answers from your oncologist, bummer about the swelling but least you now know. I've read on a few websites that there's not much benefit from Tamoxifen, apparently the one they give you when you go through the menopause is supposedly more beneficial but again has its own side effects. I'm the opposite from the majority and are happy to take tamoxifen as there's no side effects, problem is that I then worry that it's not working 😕 The new job sounds very positive and just what you need, hope the children take the news OK. Good luck with your appt on Friday, let us know how it goes. Re holiday, I love Devon, chilled out and ideal for a family break. Sal its normal to feel angry and frustrated, I'm one of the lucky ones along with Tara, Sam and Jane who doesn't have lymphodiema but I know if I did it would drive me crazy. I hate the fact that I'm reliant on tablets never mind anything else. I think if it wasn't for the lymphodiema you'd be coping differently but the sleeve and swelling must be a constant reminder. Just catching up on posts - I occasionally get a strange stinging sensation in what was my bad boob. I must admit this subsided a lot after having the lipo modelling so I do wonder if it's possibly scarred tissue around the implant caused by rads. This bloody C word has a lot to answer for! I'm definitely not as chatty and outgoing as I used to be, it's hard when you've lived and breathed cancer treatment for months on end. One year on and I seem to still struggle now for things to chat about, what's happened? Tara try not to worry, we're all getting aches on the rads side. Sal I hope you get answers on Thursday, If it's tissue damage due to rads or lymphedema in the breast they need to be providing you with a solution as you can't go on like this. I'm sorry I don't post as much as I shouLd, work takes up so much time. I hope everything goes well next week for you Sal and that your surgeon is able to answer any concerns you have. My life is so busy with work and the children, I think this has helped me move on. My goodness Sam that's a busy week but sounds like good fun. I had Monday and Tuesday off with the kids but I'm now back to work. Aaron's sitting his science GCSE's over the next couple of weeks, he hates revision which is causing major rows in the house. He's so chilled out about it all that he's comatose, I'm the one stressing. I'm dreading this time next year when the rest of his GCSE's are due. Been on a lovely 8 hr barge ride for my brothers 60th birthday (I was the accident - there's 13 years between me and my older brother) I know one thing though, I'm not very good steering the boat 😃 . We had a little rain this morning and later in afternoon but other than that it's been lovely and sunny today. Stopped off at the cider house for lunch. I really want to watch the C word which starts at 8.15 but I also want to watch the Enfield hauntings which starts at 9. May watch the C word on the iplayer later. You've not offended anyone Sal, we're women and they're OUR breasts! When I found my thickening I just knew it was BC and started looking at my options before the diagnosis. My mom had breast cancer, as did 2 of her sisters (my aunties) and even though we didn't know if there was brca gene issue I didn't want to take any chances. I was small breasted anyway (B cup) so I looked into mastectomy procedures, boy some of the results were frightening! A friend on the hubbies side had a bilateral nipple sparing mastectomy several years back due to DCIS (B cup) and she showed me her results with an implant, they look brilliant with a small white scar underneath. That was me sold, I knew that was the op for me and I was able to save my nipple as the thickening was more to the side and lower part of my boob. My consultant originally tried to talk me into a lumpectomy but my surgeon (female) said the bilateral mastectomy sounded like an excellent plan as lobular cancer can return in the other breast. This horrible disease takes over our lives even after active treatment. Do they not offer extra cosmetic surgery for those who've had a lumpectomy? Is it something those in the group may consider? Hope everyone's doing OK. Well the soreness from the lipo modelling has got better as the week has progressed. My lower back, bum and boobs are now OK but my hips are purple with deep bruises 😈 To be honest I can function as normal again now apart from lying on my sides, now that still hurts. My boobs feel a little softer but nothing major, my surgeon said its a process of building up the fat slowly. I had a lovely comment from my surgeons sidekick when she examined me before surgery, she said my mastectomy reconstruction was one of the best she'd seen and no one would be any the wiser. I could say the scars were from having implants etc - bless her 😍 She couldn't understand why I wanted lipo until I explained about softening my breasts. I'm not sure if I want another 2 sessions of lipo though, we'll see. I'm so looking forward to a good nights sleep now the bruising is easing but struggling as I usually lie on my side. Good luck with your hair ladies, I've been fairly lucky with mine and now quite like the shoulder length style. I don't think I'll be growing it long again now but never say never.
