First time I have left hospital smiling Cancer has not spread to lymph nodes, means I will not need chemo, probably not need radiotherapy as both patches have been grade 2. Radiotherapy depends on tissue samples after op Also consultant says I am suitable for implant at same time as mastectomy. Well tomorrow I find out full treatment plan. Results of Lymph Node biopsy and whether it's radiotherapy, just a mastectomy or the whole lot. Feeling hopeful. Hi All Here's to a better and healthier NEW Year to us all - steadily - bit by bit. Haven't been here as we went on a visit to see little tiny premature Grandson, probably only chance for some time. Somewhere OH and I picked up  norovirus ohh boy!!! spent yesterday in bed, Midnight in  tears about the next year (I'm sure you all know what I mean)and now feeling better in myself, still can't drink a cup of tea though. Yesterday I just couldn't get to the hospital for the bone densitromy scan. Just phoned up BCN and she has sorted it all out, so much easier than going from one dept to another. Hi Gerbera We are all newly diagnosed - November/December It does seem slow doesn't it.  Each visit is another test, each test is another week.# I look on it as a step upon the way to getting rid of it, I have phoned up BCN a couple of times and found I get some sense of why the delay. Pleased to hear ops are going well   In answer to your question I had the 2 sentinel lymph nodes removed Great today because I could wash under my arm for the first time for a week!!  I chose to have them removed and tested first as I would like an implant. I do have to have a mastectomy but if they show the Beast then I won't be able to have an implant.  One of the reasons for this decision was that all through the process I have been told it probably isn't ,and each time it has turned out that it is. I have gone from probably isn't cancer, to you need a lumpectomy and now I need a mastectomy. Still hopeful and will be relieved when the date is set and the op carried out   Matty ... View more

Hi Had  a Cancer sleep last night - first one for a over a week (ie didn't sleep) When I was up I phoned the BCN always good to have someone with a sympathetic voice who doesn't hug/love/cry but just talks about how things are. and listens Anyway result is I have the worried for appointment, and I may have a bit of fluid in my arm pit from biopsy but not to worry as it's not the size of a golf ball (she was joking!) Practical though told me to keep an eye on it as may need to be drained if it does get that big. Sarah Big hugs and positive thoughts coming your way. I have no idea about an MRI biopsy but can only assume it's because it's the only way to see what they want to investigate.   Here at Matty house we are keeping Christmas very low key as well - Just keep looking forward to spring when hopefully treatments will either be over or nearly finished.     I am sure that your family will make it a cheerful day - as for wrapping stuff etc - stick one of those ribbons on everything   Positive my girl - did think at one time if it was double mastectomy it would be a level playing field - so to speak. Just had phone call - next appointment where i'll get results of Lymph nodes and treatment plan is on January 2nd. Have to decide - if Lymph nodes are clear - if I want an implant or not by then. Hi Jets   I started sleeping again last weekend - a whole week of sleep (great), wonder if it 's something to do with fact Lymph Nodes were stage one to me of getting on with my life, so feel more relaxed. Mind you once Mastectomy date set may not. As for clothes, my lovely daughter came with me and we bought some really nice cardigans and scarves to brighten them up. Primark was one place, as I wanted to buy stuff I may not want to look at in a years time, and I bought a Glitzy one as well for Christmas do's.   Good luck  ... View more

Just went out to but some more suitable soft seamless bra's. I bought one a week ago from Sainsbury's that was pretty.  Today have looked at Matalan and M&S and OH had to guide me out of both shops sobbing. I did not realise how close to 'the surface' these emotions were!! Is it too much to ask to have another pretty, feminine soft seamless sport type bra at this time?? We live too far fromSainsbury for a visit but OH said next weekend   Jusy had to say......... Still waiting for date for mastectomy, had Lymph nodes removed on last Tuesday and feel fine, just a bit sore (and smelly!1) in the arm pit.   Facebook page looks a good idea but have never used it, not registered or anything!   ... Telling my daughter was difficult as well, I literally took a deep breath before I said . Once she had finished crying she announced that if I had to have a wig she was coming with me and so far she has helped and advised on clothes to buy  which are suitable (cardigans that look like jumpers, scarves etc) helped me find a button down nightie that didn't make me look 90 and so on.   It's her way of handling it and certainly helping me with the practical things   Matty ... I am had biopsy first as hoping for an implant whch is best if no radiotherapy.  No date but will see surgeon in New Year - as he explained I hit the staff holidays (sigh)Should be soon afterwards I am already on the hormones though- Anastrozole Am Ok about it - so far all my choice - except havig the Beast Cancer of course!
