Hi all! Regarding chemo, I think we are all on different regimes depending on so many factors. I have had 2 WLE before chemo, grade 3, HER2 positive and no node involvement. I am on 4 x TC and when asking the oncologist why she choose this TC and not FEC T she replied all my above factors led her to this decision. Don't know if this is helpful but although we are all in the same boat we are all different. I think they nowadays try and target the treatments as much as they can to individual circumstances, at least that is my understanding. I have lost a little bit of weight and the nurse said you do get fluid retention. x

Jane, sounds like a fab weekend. I am off to Bournemouth for a few days to inhale some fresh air, it's lovely to have a good few days, not just rubbish ones consumed with SE. Have a good weekend everybody xx

Hi Egret! Hope you feel better soon. I had the cold cap on and when I came for my second chemo the nurse thought I had already lost so much hair it wasn't working so I resigned to the fact that I would loose my hair, OH shaved it off and I felt so much more comfortable. I sill have some hair but looking like an angry chicken!! Getting used to wearing the wig at the moment. Good luck. X

Jane that's great news, must be so encouraging for you. I too have weard feelings mainly in my hand where the chemo goes in. I have a burn mark on my hand from the first chemo, it is slowly fading away but will probably be left with a scar. x

Hi all! Talk about constipation, bad first time around but this time, oh so painful. Something has happened below that I won't bore you with but Val you are so right, they don't warn you about constipation and how important it is to stay on top of it. Next time it will be Senocot and Laxido for at least a week. Feisty flora, thank you for your uplifting story, gives us all hope and that it's light at the end of the tunnel. 3TD bowel obstruction sounds really serious, hope you are doing OK now. I am treated for thrush now too. Take care everybody x

Hi all, had a bad day yesterday with all the rubbish SE, just stayed in bed most of the day under the duvet. Emerged today a bit better and hopefully onwards and upwards! Did't eat anything yesterday, hope I can get something down tonight. Take care everybody x

The onc gave me 1 weeks supply of 50mg Fluconazole and you do not need to pay for any prescriptions while you are receiving cancer treatment I think for the next 2 years. x

T3D, hope the Emed helps, I was only given 2 Emed for yesterday's chemo, now rely on Domperidone. Suffering a bit, hope to feel better tomorrow.Had my first Herceptin injection subcutaneously, the first Iv took ages so home much earlier yesterday especially since the cold app is not working so going for a shave tomorrow, grr x

Molliana! I had thrush, mouth and below after my last session and, GP gave me medication for a week that cleared it, and when I saw the consultant prechemo yesterday he gave me a script for Fluconazole to have at hand, better than the stuff the GP gave me as I am likely to get the thrush again.

Hi all! I couldn't watch the C word but as some of you say maybe later, a bit too raw for me at the moment.The bone ache is horrible, I got it on day 3 after the first chemo and lasted for 5 day, it really felt as if I was being shot at randomly, day and night. Got myself some Naproxen for next week and hope that will help a bit better than the over the counter Ibuprofen I used first time around. My hair is coming out today 😪 I thought I was getting away with it using the cold cap, not gone completely bald yet, so distressing. OH say , well you got your wig, not much of a comfort to me. One positive is I got my tastebuds back and getting through a lot of chocolate and cakes to make up for lost time. Hugs to everyone, IOW sounds fab by the way. x

Hi! I will let you know. I'll speak to the oncologist when my next chemo is due. I just got the impression that the surgeon really did not want to do a mastectomy, I wonder was it difficult to get your surgeon to remove the non affected breast? x

Hi Na123! Thanks for your post. My tumor was 8 mm and did not show on Mammogram, ultrasound or MRI, I had the MRI 1 week before my first WLE. Maybe the tumor was just too small. I, like you, will probably opt for mastectomy once chemo is finished. x

Good morning everyone! We have all had at least one session by now and can start counting down. I am feeling pretty good right now and is going to make the most of this weekend come rain or sunshine!! Next session Wednesday and I feel much more prepared for the onslaught, painkillers, laxative all in place. Like the idea of going out for a meal after chemo as it will be the last meal for 2 weeks that I can really enjoy, the tastebuds disappeared pretty rapidly. Have a good weekend everybody and hope not too bad SE for you who is still suffering. x

Hi all! I am undergoing chemo at the moment after 2 WLE for grade 3 small breast tumor. This was eventually discovered after 2 years of scanning with negative mammogram, ultrasound and MRI for a bleeding nipple, only a nipple biopsy could confirme grade 2 DCIS and later led to the above. I have been told I have very dense breast tissue, something normally found in young women but I don't fall into that category. My concern is where do I go now. If I have radiotherapy the follow up is mammogram and if that comes back as negative it will reassure me of nothing. If I opt for an invasive operation ie mastectomy I still have a dense breast left. As I understand it anyone who had breast cancer is at greater risk of developing it again, either the same breast or the other breast and dense breast tissue can also be a predictor of breast cancer. I was wondering if anyone have any experience of 3D imaging? There as been a trial with it but no recommendation to incorporate it to the standard national screening program, early stages I suppose but if there is something out there that could help early detection I want it!! I phoned the breast cancer care helpline but the lady I spoke did not know much about it. Any info anyone have about 3D imaging I would be most grateful if you could share it with me and everybody else interested. Many thanks x

Hi all! Jackie, good luck next month! T3D, I have trush too, mine is everywhere, rather inconvenient but I'll be ok. Tastebuds not back to normal, it is 2 weeks since my first chemo. I feel I have been put on a detox as I can't stand drinking tea, coffee or wine, it just tastes awful, seems like water is the only thing I can tolerate. Next chemo next Wed so making the most of feeling almost normal now, what a joy! Still got my hair intact but for how long remains to be seen. I will use the cold cap again and hope for the best.x
