Hi Mich33 what a lovely positive message. I'm now two weeks into first chemo. I'm finding it all fine actually. Lump already seems smaller to me after one go so that's making me really hopeful. I didn't find the first FEC too bad at all. Certainly not worried about the next one. I used the cold cap but hair is just starting to thin a bit today. My hair is very thick so up to now it's not noticeable. Keep in touch xxxx

Debs you sound similar to me. I'm due to finish 23rd dec!!! Great eh!! That's my turkey dinner tasting strange. Saying that the way my taste buds felt after first one it might just hit the spot. I ate dreadful during first week. All I craved was hangover food. Big Macs fish and chips!!! Yet all I have done before then is preach to my family about how we should all be eating better. I'm making up now though by eating really well and having a daily nutri bullet!! So yes Debs I'm surgery then possibly rads xxx

Ah that's interesting then bibi that it may be a few weeks till we know if it's worked. It's so weird waking up every day frantically checking the pillow. I don't even think it's a vanity thing it's just another way of feeling like we can carry on with day to day stuff not looking that much different. I have a wig ready that I love but I must admit I do feel anxious about the first time I wear it. Im sure I will be fine once I'm used to it. Being a hairdresser too hairs a big part of my life. Does anyone take anything to help build back the immune system? Or are we meant to avoid doing that? Just my 5 year old has been sick all through the night and I'm wondering if I should get anything!! Xx

Hi everyone I had my first FEC two weeks ago. Was fine for first two days then felt tired. Didn't get any sickness but I did take plenty of the sickness tablets at regular intervals. I think the weirdest thing for me was the way my taste buds had changed so much. It was like being pregnant again. I ate very badly really for a good five days. So I'm now trying to eat better as I know I will end up doing the same again. I did the cold cap which I found totally bearable and will certainly do next time. So it's exactly two weeks today since first chemo. Haven't lost any hair as yet. I wake up every day checking my pillow.y head feels slightly tender today. Kind of like having a really tight bobble in all day. Do we think it might start falling out soon? Xxx

Just checking in with you all. It's a week today since my first FEC. I was great the first two days then felt a bit crap after that. I feel ok today. No real symptoms to report. Slight heartburn slight tiredness. The most annoying thing has been my appetite. Only way I can describe it as like early pregnancy. Just not knowing what I fancy. Have eaten so clean before chemo as have got right into the healthy diet but it's all gone out the window as the foods I have been eating just don't satisfy me. I have needed stodgy comfort food. But I'm going to start again tomorrow eating better. Love to all you lovely lot xxx

I agree blonde I think if we can do our best to keep the bugger away then why wouldn't we. My mum was on a cruise earlier this year and went to a seminar on there about nutrition. The guy was from the phillapenes! If that's how it's spelt!!! She came back with all this info about our bodies being too acidic these days. Then when I have looked into all the cancer diets they seem to be singing off same page! I'm not going to stick to it 100% especially whilst having chemo but since diagnosis 4 weeks ago I have been dairy sugar salt alcohol processed food free. Only eating organic fruit and veg. Tiny bit of organic chicken and meat. I have never eaten so well in my life. I have yo yo dieted all my life. I'm going to take note of all that Sarah thanks. I must admit I did eat a magnum last night! And enjoyed every bit xxx

Sarah what did your nutritionist say. I have given up all dairy and really miss cheese. I found a vegan cheese in morrisons on Tuesday £2 it was. It's actually nice. Not loads of taste but quite like Edam xxx

Hi girls just checking in with you all. First one down!!! Well I'm pleased to report so far so good ( sorry bibi!!). Cold cap was totally bearable. In fact I had it on an hour longer than I needed as they couldn't find my consent form so had to wait for my onc to fax it over. So was on two hours before treatment!! The worst thing about it all was the four attempts to get the cannula in. By the second I thought I was going to faint so that was a bit dramatic. I felt like a wuss which is not the case at all. All in all was ok and met some lovely people who kept me right. Hope everyone is feeling good this evening. Let's hope I'm this chipper tomorrow xxx

Great to hear all of these success stories. Today I start my 6 sessions of chemo. I'm very hopeful and positive but sometimes it's draining being so upbeat all the time!! I have a one and a five year old and all I keep thinking is how unfair it is in them to potentially lose a mummy so young. I really hope this does not have to be the case. Reading these stories really help. Thanks to all of you xxx

The whole diet thing has got me a little bit obsessed over these past few weeks. But if nothing else it's been a good distractions. My head is a bit baffled by it all. Yes Sarah I bet you have just done what I did ten mins ago and Google oestrogen foods!!! Brilliant everything I have been stuffing my face with actually increases it!!! Then I tried a different approach and googled foods to reduce oestrogen and thank the Lord I have been eating tons of those!! Coffee apparently can increase by 70%. Scary stuff. It's the nuts and seeds that freaked me out. But also says no to animal fats which is what I have been saying all along to my friends and family who will listen. My husband says I will be out hugging trees before long!! Xxx

Barry do you have a nutri bullet? I bought one a month ago and use it every day. Some don't taste great but most are good. I think they are a good thing to have as you build up to chemo. I'm not great with fruit and veg but you can pack them all into a smoothie so easily. I have just made one called the mean green in prep for my first chemo session tomorrow. I have used kale spinach apples pineapple ginger and lemon. It says to use celery too but I find it awful with it in xxx

I know exactly what you mean blonde ambition with the whole career family thing. I was in the very early stages of opening my own hair salon with my current boss who I have worked for 15 years!! I haven't been anywhere near the salon since finding out as can't face seeing anyone. He's also stunned me by only paying me statutory sick pay since being off!!! To think this was a person who I was about to go into business with! I'm not working through chemo as I want to spend time with my children on the days I'm feeling good and not dashing into work. All this has really made me think differently about my life and career. I'm going to take a massive back step. No more dashing around fitting haircuts in after work. I'm going to have Saturday's off for the first time in 20 years and enjoy life! Ha sorry for all that. I'm sure you all didn't need to know that!! Xxx
