Hi all, hope you're all doing ok. Yes, I had my final chemo on Weds 2 Dec. Feeling a bit down with the side effects/emotions. I have a scan and tatoo booked for Monday before the rads start on 23 Dec. Richelle, how was the scan/tatoos? Am a bit anxious!! Hi ladies, sorry to hear that some of you haven't been feeling too well. I have my last Docetaxol on Weds and then will be starting Radiotherapy from 23 Dec. Hi Carolec - i had lumpectomy on the left side and mine is on the side. Since this afternoon i've been feeling some paon in my right shin... Am not sure if it's do with me being a bit active. Does anyone have that? I'm panicking a bit... Shall i take some paracetamol? I've also managed to go The Haven for my intial appt... The atmosphere was really relaxing! The nurse i saw was really nice and understanding. She mentioned that they hold a younger women support group once a month so i went to that on Weds and met some lovely ladies there. I would definately recommend it to everyone. I'll be trying their massage therapy, meeting with a nutritionist etc. They give 10 sessions for free and they also hold some exercise classes too. ... Thanks Bibi, Carolec. Hi Lisalouw, i had horrible taste for a week or so and for the mouth thrush, onco gave me gelclair sachet to rinse my mouth. You can ring your onco and ask for difflam spray for sore throat and difflam mouthwash. They should help with your sore throat etc. I hope you feel better soon. Take care everyone! ... View more

Morning ladies, good to hear that sone of you managing ok with T. I've also heard that people find it hard to move on once chemo has finished. I'm not sure how would i feel but definately thinking of getting some help/tips to deal with it. I've contacted The Haven and got my consultation appt next week. Hello ladies, I just logged on to see how everyone's doing. Hi Shellyjenks - i had my Tax reduced by 20% for the 2nd cycle. I had really bad SE with the full dose. I must admit reduced dose was sort managable with paracetamol. I took ibuprofen only once when I couldn't handle the pain. I'm sure you will be fine. Hi Richelle - Thanks for letting me know that a nurse visited you to flush/dressing the hickman line. I don't think they do it in my area in London. I got it sorted yesterday. I notice some swelling at the back of neck and shoulder on the same side as hickman line. Is it normal? I asked my hubby to check and he said it's not very obvious. Hi all, Good luck Lisa and Sarah. I'm feeling a bit better but still very tired. I neec to go to hospital today to get the dressing changed/flush the hickman line. With regards to the hair, I've been wondering if the eyebrows and eyelashes will go completely. My onco told me that cycle 4-6 you will lose your eyebrows and eyelashes. My eyebrows have gone a bit thin but not too bad. Eyelashes seems ok. I have very light/thin hair on my head so don't know if they have started growing. Good luck everyonexxxx ... View more

Hi everyone, well done Richelle! I have one more of T to go on 2 Dec and then I'm booked for rads from 23 Dec for 4 weeks. It'd be really helpful if you can keep us posted with rads etc. Day 6 today and am still struggling with the aches and pains, been in bed since last Wednesday. Hi Debs, sorry to hear that you're having pain in your legs. I didn't have pain in my legs with FEC so am not sure. Keep an eye and if you see any swolleing ring your onco. The T part is very different to FEC but it's doable. My drug has been reduced by 20% so muscle aches and pains are not as bad as last time. Good luck! ... View more

Hi all, I've had my 2nd T cycle on Weds 11 Nov, reduced by 20%. I've been having aches and pains at the moment. My right eyelid has been flickering a lot and looks like lower eyelashes have thinned too. I also can't taste anything... Which is horrible. Thanks Bravescholar and Lisalouw. I had all the se with this drug and also my thumb and first two fingers were very painful/numb. That's why they are reducing it. Hope i get less se after tomorrow's cycle. Also just went to see people for the port abd the lady suggested Hickman line as I only got two more chemos left. Feeling a bit nervous about getting it done as i was mentally prepared to get port put in. Has anyone had hickman line put in? Hi all, I saw my onco yesterday and they have reduced the dose of T by 20%. As I had a really bad first cycle of T. I'm due to have it tomorrow after the port appt. fingers crossed! Can i ask if anyone else has their's reduced? I was a bit worried and asked if it will be less affective after reducing it by 20% and was told that it's fine as it's not a lot and it won't be less effective. ... View more

Hello ladies, thank you for the advice on support group and hair etc. I had a bad headache last night and now got a backache. Just took 2 paracetamol, not sure if it's a side effect from the first T I had 2 weeks ago. I do also feel very tired at times. Hi jojo2 - i've had my first T about 2 weeks ago. The side effects started around day 3, bad muscle and joint pains and painful finger tips. I then had diarrohea day 4/5 and same day my temp went up so I ended up in hospital. White blood cells and nutrophils were low. I also had an infection so was treated for that. TO be honest I didn't have a good experience. But i heard 2nd cycle should be a bit less painful. Thanks Richelle, i do hope I have mild SE with the one too. What about the eyebrows? I still have my eyebrows and eyelashes but I'm checking them everyday to see if they are gone thinner. Sarahd - i tried cold cap for the first 2 cycles and then I trim them almost like stubble. I still have some of the stubble but most of them are bald parches now. I would like to know if they start going back while on T. I too have fuzzy covering. ... View more

Hi jhbee - I'm having T every 3 weeks same as FEC. I got two more to go and radiotherapy. With regards to mouth ulcer I had been using Biotene mouthwash but it didn't help when i started T. My onco has given some gelclair sachet to rinse my mouth. She alsi suggested using Corsydol. Hi Sarahd - I do have someone like me lady and I managed to speak to her yesterday. She had same ca as mine 4 yrs ago, i felt a bit better after speaking to her. I think we all know that we need to stat positive and focus on treatment but there are days when everything comes in your mind and you just think about them and get worried.... Hi Lisajane - someone like me service is very good, I'm finding it helpfull as sometimes family and friends don't understabd what we are going through and our feeling. I had a really bad 3rd FEC cycle and was so down cried for the whole week. I then email the lady and she very kindly rang me back the same day and she shared her experience. Hi Shazza, good to hear that you're feeling better now. It is true that staying home doesn't help and our mind starts wondering! Everyone say oh just keep yourself busy.. easy said then done!
