Hi sue. I'm not on herceptin so can't answer your question, sorry you've not had a reply. I finished chemo three weeks ago today! It's such a relief that I didn't have to make that dreaded journey today then wait for the explosion!!! I start radiotherapy next Thursday, every day for four weeks (except weekends). Hi sue, yes as sissylw said, standard is 15 with extra 5 in some cases (in mine due to me being a "youngster" (apparently)), every day except weekends. My eyes are the same, quite sore, driving me mad as can't wear my contact lenses. Oh dear, you tell him Sue!! ... View more

Last day of chemo today and am already wide awake after having a late night (for me at the moment) thanks to steroids and Game of Thrones which I have to watch when everyone else has gone to bed... Think I may be tired later! Not looking forward to the next three weeks and I'm probably going to miss a few of the children's events BUT last three weeks of awfulness; it is truly so hard to explain to people how awful this is. Hi, obviously I only know what I've been told, I've no medical knowledge. I had triple negative BC resulting in a lumpectomy in which the whole tumour was removed with clear margins, also nodes were removed and tested negative. Howevever, I am now having chemo and rads; the reason is as being as it's triple negative cancer it is not responsive to any other hormone drugs used to treat the other types of Bc therefore just in case any rogue cells have escaped to anywhere else in the body, chemo is the only way to kill these cells. Chemo also helps to prevent a recurrence. Radiation is used in a localised area where the tumour was, for the same reasons. I am sure your oncologist will give you a better and more thorough explanation. Good luck. ... View more

Hi not posted for a while. Thank you all for your posts I have been reading with interest and they have made me feel less isolated. Had first 'T' and it's really not nice. I was ok for first day and a half and was thinking maybe this one is easier, then boom! Never ached so much, pain everywhere! Spent two days in bed, unable to move the cocodamol just knocked me out before waking to more pain. Then ... Spent two nights in hospital as had high temperature and felt very flu-like. Whilst there WBC dropped as well. Now on antibiotics. Came home and kids both have colds, great! I find everything very irritating and quite glad I'm holed away as I'm sure I could pick an argument with someone about something very minor at the mo, even people on tv are annoying!!!! Gggrrr. ... Hi warcol. I too have soreness in my armpit like shaving rash with a small bump. I was quite concerned, however, thinking about it I have the same on my scalp so I am hoping its to do with hair follicles. I will see how it is in a few days. Hi Helen. I used the cold cap on my first session. There were three sizes of caps, the nurse spent a long time finding the right one as, in her words "if you don't get a good fit you may as well not bother". Well the large was too big, the medium didn't come down the sides and back far enough. We decided medium. I didn't tell my nurse as she'd done her best but at the end I'm sure it had ridden up and there were gaps on top. Anyway since then I'm losing hair everyday (which I expected) as its not a definite - I have a lot of hair so people can't tell. It's now driving me crazy and I can't stand not being able to style it and am in fact doing so twice a week but In between it doesn't look good! I'm undecided whether to use again as I'm an all or nothing girl. It does give you a brain freeze every so often and obviously takes longer. ... View more
