Carolyn52, I agree with you wholeheartedly, I'm 65 and my experience has been similar to yours, I'm on Anastrozole although I'm lucky and don't get the hot flushes.  It must be so much harder for you younger ladies, but at least we get the option to take the pesky little tablets and I for one am happy to.  All the best. xx ... Hi to both of you,   I've been on anastrozole since June 15th, I got quite severe aches and pains for a few weeks, I've now just finished radiotherapy, didn't have chemo.  The aches and pains are much easier now, but about once a week I get a bad night with them.  I'm lucky and don't get hot flushes, or only mild ones occasionally. I was tired though, but of course now I'm tired with the radiotherapy so I will see when that calms down.  I think it must be harder for you younger ladies though as you are not used to aches and pains! (I'm 65).  Everyone is different so try to take it as it comes, we are so lucky to have these tablets to help stop it coming back. It's so frustrating for you having to wait and wait, you will feel so much better when you are into the next stage. They say radiotherapy should be eight weeks from opp, then it's wait wait wait, mine was two and a half months later.  Hope you get there soon.  Well done to those who like me have finished and I agree it's a bit weird how the tiredness and soreness gets worse.  I'm going to Majorca on 1st Oct for a week, so hope it's not too bad by then. I've just been reading more about flax seed and ER+ breast cancer, it now seems that it is ok for us and that it can infact help in prevention. It's all very confusing, so back on the flax seeds I think! xx ... View more

Hope you get your dates through soon those of you ladies that are still waiting. Well done Jacks and Pluckducky, not long now! I finished my 15 today, they warned me about the sore skin and tiredness getting worse for another 2 weeks thing, but not having to go to the hospital every day will be so much easier. Hi Jacks and Sue,   If you are taking Anastrozole one of the side effects is thinning of the bones.  My onc arranged a Dexa scan to give a base point to see how they are, as I said the results showed borderline Osteopenia.  She then sent me to my GP for Calcium and Vitamin D tablets and Bisphosphonates (Andronic Acid or Risedronate) they help to build bone. The Andronic Acid didn't suit me so I will try the Risedronate on Monday, you take them once a week.  I asked if I really needed them as only borderline, but she said once bone has been lost you can't replace it and if it was her she would try the alternative before giving up.  So that's what I will do. My Onc arranged my Dexa Scan when I saw her previous to the radiotherapy planning.   Hope that helps, I would add that I am 65, (very active) don't know whether that makes a difference! Glad you're doing reasonably ok Jacks, I had the Deca bone scan and was told borderline Osteopenia too. I have the calcium and vit c tablets, are you on a weekly bisphosphonate as well. I was given them, I took one and had such a bad stomach I haven't taken anymore. Going to see GP this morning to discuss options. Well done everyone we're all getting there! x ... View more

Hi Ladies, I had number 10 today, also saw chief radiographer for chat to see how it's going, she said boob was really good hardly pink. I've been on anastrozole since 15th June and I get stab you pains too also lists of aching especially at night, shows it's working I suppose! Just the tiredness getting worse each day. Hi Jacks, I had a really busy day ending with rads at 4pm, by the time I had driven home I was really zapped. Exhausted, felt sick, hubby cooked dinner (doesn't normally cook but managed egg & chips!) Felt better after that but very tired. Boob getting red but not sore, same as you. How are you feeling? Hi, I'm barging in too, I'm 8 down 7 to go. It's really quite easy, you soon get used to going in every day! As everyone says it's just great to get on with it at last. Hi everyone, so sorry that some of you are having such an uncomfortable time, hang in there, I tell myself by Christmas all will hopefully be much better! I'm promising myself lots of new pretty under wired bras!!! I'm on number 7 of 15 rads today, so far just twinges in the boob and snb scar a bit tender. I use H&B Aloe Vera straight after treatment, then cream when I get home, only marginally pink so far. My surgeon started me on anastrozole straight after results just over two months ago and onc said carry on with them through rads. I'm lucky I don't get hot flushes, just feel a little warmer than usual, I do ache a lot though, hips, pelvis and hands mostly, that's what keeps me awake at night. I think I'm probably a lot older than you guys though (65). Beginning to feel tired in the evening and early to bed now, I was always a late to bed person. I found a fatty lump on my non cancer side, just where the bottom of my bra goes, surgeon looked at it a couple of days ago and said he doesn't think it's anything, but will do an ultrasound to check, something else to bother about now! Ah well we have to do the best we can and at least all this treatment is available to us, but it's really good to be able to have a good moan to other ladies that really understand our problems.
