Hi Jump123 Awful that you were made feel that way. They need to see how your skin reacts. Terrible to scare you. Not to alarm Jump123 but anyone else having post rads problems? I'm now 9 days since rads finished. 15 days of rads no problem but last 5 days have been pretty bad. Skin is almost black it's so burnt in spots. I've been in a lot of pain. Finding Bepanthen nappy cream which I had for my son is helping the most but wasn't expecting post rads skin and fatigue to be so bad. ... View more

Hi Jackie I finished my rads a week ago today. Got through three weeks of it no bother. This week has been the worst. Full of tears, skin has gone from fine to fried, sore, itchy and I can't stay awake it's been a bit crazy. I wasn't expecting this week to be like this. Ive struggled a bit this week but hubby just keeps telling me to sleep, stop worrying and just take care of myself and for once I'm listening to him. You'll find you go from the nervous newbie to the veteran very quickly. My first few days I was nervous then it's fine and becomes routine, then new people start and you're no longer the newbie and then you're done 😀 I was nervous at first but the nerves go quickly. Started last week of rads today 😀 it's gone so quickly. So far no major issues, itchy boob and feels like I'm crushed up a packet of crisps and emptied it into my bra. Other than that all good. E45 cream working for me. Hope you all have a good week xx ... View more

Well done Bonsai. First one over wooohoooo. I know everyone is different but remember to take it easy. I was exhausted after week one. Started week two today. Look after yourself. Also asked about the holding breath thing today. They said it depends on the treatment. Where I'm bringing treated they don't do the hold your breath but other places have different ways of delivering radiotherapy and involves holding your breath. Hi Jacks. Yeahhhhhh first one done glad it was OK for you. I wasn't told to hold my breath. Are we supposed to? I finished first week of rads today 😀 I'm in Scotland and being treated at the Lanarkshire Beatson. Three spa treatments this week after my rads, two booked for next week and two for week after. Thanks for the response x. name is an old nickname 🙂 Lots of breast cancer in my family with mum, aunt and great aunts. I'm the first of the next generation. Sisters getting screening now too. I'm all of a sudden overwhelmed by it all. I think I just tried to get it over with and talk of DCIS not being 'real' cancer or serious made me feel guilty feeling bad for myself especially when you read others stories. I'm new here. Ask doc about risk of cancer due to family history. Had no symptoms. Was so shocked to be diagnosed with DCIS 2.7cm. Had surgery 3 weeks ago and jumped full force back to life.
