Hi. Sorry to hear you find yours of here but it’s a very welcoming group. I would heartily recommend a book called DCIS taking control by John BOYAGES . He is Australian but the book is very easy to follow and he is a world expert. I found it invaluable when I was diagnosed 2 years ago. The problem with DCIS is there is sometimes an invasive cancer hiding within and I’m sure that’s what your team want to try and ascertain. Often this can only be done after surgery. Be sure to ask lots of questions if you feel unsure. Good luck 😉 with it all and try and enjoy your holiday. Easier said than done I know

Hi. Is it DCIS or breast cancer? You wouldn’t normally have a bone scan for DCIS as it is contained within ducts and hasn’t spread. I would firstly confirm the diagnosis with your BC nurse. If it is DCIS i can heartily recommend a book by Australian specialist called DCIS of the breast Taking Control by JOHN BOYAGES. It helped me a lot and others have found it very useful. Take care

You are welcome Kathryn and as everyone says the waiting for results is the hardest part. We aren’t allowed to mention specific people/surgeons etc on this website understandably, but you can privately message if you want to get more information. I found having someone to talk to who had had the same diagnosis as me very helpful. Breastcancer.uk can arrange this for you through the main website. I had a lady phone me before, during and after my treatment. Can also recommend the book DCIS Taking Control by John Boyages. He is an Australian, but the book is very readable and informative, in a really positive way. It helped me a lot. X

Hi i was diagnosed with high grade dcis in July 2016 and had a wle and 5 weeks of radiotherapy. Haven’t as yet had to have any further treatment. Just annual mammograms. Are you being treated at Addenbrookes.? People I know speak very highly of the team there. Glad to hear you are doing so well Ali 😘

I hope no one on here has private health care with carillion and is now facing a void! I was treated in 2016 under their scheme and can’t get to see my consultant now because they are no longer in business. I appreciate I was lucky maybe to have private cover but how awful to be midway through treatment and now not be able to continue! 😰 😊

Hi Belle I'm no expert but I don't think you can have lymph node involvement without some invasive cancer. Often this is found within dcis at pathology stage? I'm sure someone with more expertise can confirm this. Best wishes 😌

Not sure why you wouldn't be ok? Biopsies heal very quick. I took my plaster off after 2 days and have minimal bruising. Good luck 😉

All of my biopsies have been needle biopsies? Must say this one was much less painful than previously. Different hospital. Still wavering about what to do whatever the results 😳

Sorry Ali from one in the same place. I get my biopsy results Tuesday. I have one new area which had appeared since WLE. Consultant thinks it maybe old calcifications which have moved when tissue rearranged during op but we wait to see....best wishes x
