Hi Claire, Just back on the forum again, how’s it going? I’m about to enter cancer world all over again 😞 boo!! Yep, local recurrence.. I felt something just a couple of months after rads finished but they couldn’t pick it up on the ultrasound. However, now you can feel the lumps and have been confirmed through biopsies. Thank god there is no spread according to the ct scan I had last week. So I’m back having more surgery this week then another 6 months of chemo. Hi Kess, if you see this message please could you message me with the details of any IBC specialist centres you know of in the UK pls? I’ve googled and having trouble working it out. I’ve just been diagnosed with a local recurrence where I had mx and rads so very disappointed. I’m waiting results of a body scan to see if it has spread and want an urgent second opinion on next course of treatment. I finished rads in Sept last year 😞 Hope all is good with you xx ... Hi ladies, How are you? I've not been on here in ages... I'm halfway through rads now. Got delayed due to a huge seroma which wouldn't go... Sorry to hear you've been low Claire. I've been warned by an onc that the drugs can really affect in different ways but not to underestimate the "mood swings" as can sometimes go to the extreme of sucicidal. I've not started any yet - they are waiting until after rads but so far only been told tamoxifen... How you all had a lovely summer. Sending hugs xxx ... View more

Awesome - so glad it went well for you!! Do you know when you get your histology report? I was due mine tonight but we've gone away for a few nights so they are going to give it to me next Monday. Keep thinking the worst 😞 I'd clinically had a great response to chemo but then we found out there was more cancer than we'd thought so now imagining them telling me the response wasn't great, doing another CT scan, getting told I have mets etc. I think I'll keep working myself up until next Monday evening, you know what it's like... Oh Blue, it sounds like you've had a really awful time. I understand that you don't want to post all the details on here. Let's get that group up and running! From what I can see, if I want to start a group I need to get at least one friend to join so will need to befriend at least one of you on FB to get it started - then we can all become admins and add others - I think! Hi guys! How are you? Thank you for your replies 💞 I'm home today after having my mx last night. They also took lymph nodes - I don't know how many but my surgeon doesn't believe in taking them all so it wasn't all of them... In the end I wasn't even able to get an expander implant as that would mean waiting until early August... so here I am, flat on one side and E cup on the other! To be honest, the worst bit was waiting to go in for the op. The swelling and bra with softie in is tricking me into thinking my boob is still there. I felt relief last night but now feel like the cancer must still be there - I'd got so used to it over the last 7 months! I'll get my report on the 24th so fingers crossed. How are you all doing? Good luck Blue - everything crossed for you! And good luck Scotty & Slowski too! I had my port removed during my mx yesterday so the heavy painkillers have masked it so well, I completely forgot they did it! I'm back home now... I'll get my results on the 24th 😬 I don't know how many lymph nodes they removed yet but it wasn't all of them. So far the pain isn't too bad and I almost forget I've got the softie in. I guess it will be a process of adjustment. Post-op adrenaline still pumping... now to remember to do those exercises! 😬 Xxx ... View more

Thanks everyone - I'm next to go in - probably around 4-5pm 😩 Waiting is awful and I'm so thirsty now! Bloody hot hospital too... sat here in my socks and gown covered in the surgeon's black pen. However, something to make you laugh... My husband thought that the lovely surgery pants were a hair net 😂 😂 😂 he was trying to put them on my head 😂 😂 can you imagine if i turned up ready to go into theatre with net knickers on my head!! Thanks so much flyingarcher. I made the final decision today and am sticking with mx no recon on Thursday. They also warned me that if the cancer comes back in a few months, the recon would be wasted so this way I can hopefully have a year clear before having it done. Apparently after 2 years, recurrence rates drop off significantly for my type of BC.... I guess I just decided that I'd kick myself super hard if it spread during the time I'd delayed so I could have an immediate recon done. Esp as all the docs have advised that I should have mx asap this week. So I'm booked for Thursday 😩 Good luck with your next op and radio - I hope those damn margins clear for you! Xxx ... View more

Evening ladies, I've picked myself back up again, not quite back to "normal" but better than last Friday! Blue - that sucks, I think they forget how awful it is for us waiting on these results. Good luck for when you get the report 🍀 Just confirm I'll have my mastectomy on Thursday. Had a good chat with the surgeon on Monday night. I won't be able to have recon so trying to gear myself up for adapting. The surgeon told me that a lot of docs will not do recon if the patient has inflammatory breast cancer (as I think the recurrence rate is high). He says he is more open minded but it would be better to deal with the cancer now and maybe look at recon in a year. They also want to do the op ASAP and the plastic surgeon wouldn't be available until August... 😩 Anyway, a good look at my daughter and a reminder why I need to put life before aesthetics etc but it still sucks... Dreading the moment before they put me under! Did anyone else have any sort of goodbye ritual for their boob or just pleased to see the back of the cancer? I'm feeling really sentimental about it... Ebim - I'm so jealous!! Well done for finishing, you deserve an amazing holiday 😎 Thanks everyone for your support - feeling a bit better today, just have to ride out those low days, ay. Egg - my biopsies weren't standard so hopefully you won't need them. It was because my MRI showed a suspicious shadow across the breast (not part of the actual tumour). I guess it's because my original tumour was so big that instead of shrinking down to one smaller one which is what we'd thought, it sort of melted away but leaving disease behind spread over a wide area. That's what I'm hoping - rather than recurrence already! They won't tell me until after surgery histology report is in. Hope you've all enjoyed today's sunshine ☀️ Lots of love xxx ... View more

Hi all, Yay! Congrats on negative gene!! I was slightly and strangely disappointed as I think I wanted something to blame but obvs better to be negative! My bad news... they biopsied two extra areas on my boob - away from the main tumour - and found LCIS, DCIS and IDC 😩 So I have to have mx - no discussion!! I also can't have recon as waiting list will be too long and as my last chemo was 1/06 they want to whip it off asap as there is still active disease. Super sucks!! I had 4x EC (high dose) and 10x tax. My onc said I'd had "A LOT" of chemo and yet the b*stard is stil living - not just in the main tumour. I really am starting to feel like I've met my match.
