Hi Egg I had a portacath fitted mid January. Ive had 2 blood tests and FEC1 and 2 through it so far. I wasn't keen on the idea of it at all but once inserted and settled down it has really helped me and nurses when having chemo. I would definitely recommend having one if you can. Mine is on the inner side of the upper arm 1/3 of the way up as not much spare flesh in my upper chest so I just have to watch extending that arm about my head to often so I don't damage the tube - other than that I do forget it's there. Can recommend wifi enabled smart tv - just got a Panasonic from Amazon. You can get Amazon prime tv and films and Netflix - really recommend watching the Crown. Now watching rerun of Brideshead Revisited. Better films than Sky and plants to keep you going on sofa days. ... View more

Hi Day 3 of Dexamethasone today and after 4 hours sleep last night I can't wait to stop taking it - am sure that is the reason why I wake up at 3 wide awake and can't get back to sleep no matter what. Anyone had any experience of how long this takes to wear off? ... View more

Thanks for all your comments. I find tiny regular portions of food helps to keep nausea at bay so far. Hopefully by round 2 I will have forgotten quite what it feels like. Hi I am in 3xFEC and then 3xT. Had first FEC yesterday and was so glad I had a Portacath inserted. Feeling wiped out today and I think was over optimistic about being up and around. Does anyone know how long for body to process the drugs and when will I start to feel livelier and less hungover. No nausea yet so fingers crossed. Thank you! X ... View more

Hi - I'm 54. I had screening today after I noticed a small lump. Nurse felt lump on exam and said it was mobile and felt like a cyst. Mammogram which followed was normal and then had ultrasound and biopsy - 3 samples taken. After that the radiologist said it was probably cancer. I thought ultrasound could only say whether lump fluid filled or not and they can't tell from ultrasound. Now very confused and scared - I have to go back next Wednesday for biopsy results. It looks from reading thread as if others have had similar feedback at this stage - it just doesn't seem right. Are they just preparing us for worst or what? Any reassurance gratefully received! ...
