Hi Helena   Hope you get your appointment soon. It does vary from hospital to hospital. I was diagnosed Dec 2016, finished treatment last March.  I had my first mammogram Dec2017, one year after diagnosis.  When I got the result just before Christmas I also had my mammogram appt for this December!  My hospital seems ultra organised. ... Hi Ladybowler  It’s strange how different areas have different policies. I finished radiotherapy last March and had my first mammogram in December.  When I got the result I also got the appointment for this December.  My hospital are obviously very organised! ... View more

Hallo Fluffies   Just wanted to share some good news as I know you will understand the significance more than my family and friends.  This time last year I had just been diagnosed with bc so Christmas wasn’t a very happy time for us.  I had my first mammogram last week and have just had the all clear result. Yippee!  I feel that I can now start to think and plan things for next year.  I know it’s the first hurdle and I shall have to go through this again but starting to feel that I CAN get through this.   i don’t post often but always read what’s happening to you all. Hi Elke i have been on Letrozole since January and thankfully not too many side effects. Have you thought about trying a different brand of Letrozole.? I did have one brand Cipla which made me dizzy so went back to the doctor and got another prescription for a different make and it was fine . I was only on Cipla for just over the week. I decided life was too short and we have all been through so much so went to the doctors sooner rather than later. Just a thought, it might help. Hope things improve for you. ... View more

Hi angabb54 just seen your post. I have been on Letrozole since January, either Dr Reddys or Accord apart from a very brief spell on Cipla.  I felt dizzy all the time, went to my doctor who's lovely and told her I couldn't cope for the next 5 years on the Cipla brand.  She gave me another prescription to get some more and has put a note on my medical record.  Despite this I still get give given Cipla sometimes but I always check before I leave the pharmacy and if Cipla point out that my notes say not that brand. So far pharmacist has been fine and found another brand. We have to take this for a long time so you need to find a brand that agrees with you. ... View more

Hi dizzy i shall be 70 when I finish the Letrozole and the annual mammograms. I was told that I could ask to be kept on the system but that it would be back to a mammogram every 3 years . Not ideal in our case but better than nothing. it might depend on the area, I am in the south east. Suggest your neighbour asks to continue with mammograms.   ... View more

Hi I have had Dr Reddys and Activist and no problems with either. I had Cipla for a week and didn't get on with it at all. It's written on my prescription not to give me the Cipla brand but pharmacist still gives it to me so always check before I leave the chemist. When I point it out to them so far they have been willing to swop brand but I do worry as I have been told they do not know which brand they are going to get. Just collected 2 months supply and another 2 months at the hemist with my name on so ok for 4months. Fingers crossed for after that ... View more

Hi Jill i also go swimming like  Rubycat. I go with a friend so sometimes there is more chatting than swimming, I don't always want to go but feel very pleased when I get out. I don't do that many lengths but it is a bit of exercise. I have also joined a walking group. The ladies know about the bc as I was absent for a good number of weeks but I have to concentrate on the hills which focuses the mind  ... View more

Evening everyone. Yes Beth I also play candy crush and spend far too much time on it, up to 461. I try and get out somewhere every day, keeps my mind of bc and everything else for a short time . Hi Helena, had my 3 month checkup a couple of weeks ago. The nurse was very positive and said I should have no more trouble. I want to believe her but ......... Anyway my first mammogram will be December which will be one year since the bc was diagnosed  and as that is only 9 months since I finished treatment they shouldn't find anything . I know I have to try and be positive. Things are beginning to calm down and I am trying to say 'Yes' to any new and different experiences.  Went out for a lovely walk with  hubby in London last week, through Green Park and Hyde Park, places that I hadn't been to before, and Hampton Court Flower show this week. Very restrained and didn't buy anything. Mainly because it was sooo hot I didn't want to carry any more than I had to.  Still got a few cards so can alway order things on line.   ... View more

Hi ladies i went for a checkup yesterday as it was 3 months since finishing rads. Was told the lump was very small and what with the rads and Letrozole for 5 years I shouldn't have any more problems. Good news, if I believe them, I'm a worrier at the best of times. First mammogram will be in December which will be one year after original diagnosis. Anyway I asked what happened in 5 years and would I continue with the Letrozole and was told a team would discuss me and that if they thought it would be beneficial then they would continue with the Letrozole but that they would make the decision nearer the time.
