After I started on Tamoxifen my neck became very itchy and angry red if I scratch. It is worse when I feel stressed. I try to relax by doing stretching exercises and it helps a bit though still sticking around. I try to refrain from scratching otherwise it gets worse. I think Tamoxifen can aggravate eczema.

I don't notice cramps so much as numbness. My hands and feet feel numb regularly after sleep. Now I get tinkling feeling in my right hand and numbness in the last three fingers when a wake and even whilst using my hand. Don't know if it's the Tamoxifen or my nerves had been affected due to Mastectomy on my Right side.

Hi Jobey68, Thank you for your reply. I should go back to see my GP but I don't think he will offer any alternative. I would like to ask the consultant at Breast clinic but my appointment is in June. I think I will give the Nurses a call to see if they can advise anything.

Hi, I was diagnosed with stage 2BC when I was 48. No rad or chemo. I started Tamoxifen last March, now nearly 1 year and managing the side effects. To start with, had normal periods for a few months then nothing for 5 months but from mid Jan started having tremendously heavy bleeding with bad period pain. Saw GP and was prescribed with Tranexamic Acid and Norethisterone which stopped the bleeding but side effects cause me to feel panicky and hungry all the time, so kept eating and now put on at least4kg. Tried to stop taking the med three times but each time, bleeding starts again after two days and got very heavy so had to take tablets again. Gp says I'm menopausal and the bleeding could go on for several months. My Grandmother, mother and sister didn't experience anything like mine. GP says it's because I'm taking Tamoxifen. I wonder if anyone had or is experiencing similar problem. Is it common to have continuous heavy bleeding when menopause starts?

Have been on Tamoxifen just over six months, still struggling with side effects. Had reduced dose to one every other day for a couple of months and now back to one every day for about a week and I keep getting this low grade pain in my abdomen just below the ribs, that on top of aches and pains in joints, terrible migraine headaches, fluctuation in moods and itchy neck. Really wonder if I should stay on it for 5 years.

Dear Meri, Thanks for the suggestion to divide the tablet. I was thinking may be try to take one every other day. I have a bc clinic appt tomorrow will discuss with bs and nurse may be have to call oncologist too. I will try the predict test and see what it says also.

On Tam 2.5mths, noticed joints ache more, now old problem with hip and jaw returned, hardly able to chew food. Cold feet also a problem, they get freezing cold to the point of numbness. Feel palpitations, panicky, also I seem to get hypoglycemia regularly, breaking out in sweat, shaking with hunger and need to eat. Don't think I can cope with being on Tamoxifen for 5 years.

My Bc surgeon considered reducing my lump before surgery but the onco said the effect would be minimal. I opted for mastectomy after reading that lumpectomy doesn't always work and may need more surgery. Do research and make decision that is best for you.

I'm on Tamoxifen since March and the s/es seem to increase over time. Thinking of coming off it but will try for 3 months. I worry about my liver and kidney. I'm not sure the benefit is definite, there is no guarantee that BC won't recur even if on Tamoxifen ..

I also didn't have problem with plasters until I had biopsies in Nov and the dressings with clear edges made my skin burn and left marks on my skin for over 2months. Before surgery I told nurses and they used the white fabric type of dressing over my scar and that was ok. The one that held the drains in place didn't stick well and came off at home, I used surgical tapes to stick it back and ended up with awful itchiness. I think bc does something to one 's immune system. I'm not on any other treatment at present, waiting for remaining drain to be taken out.
