The treatment wasn't as bad as I had prepared for, had a second when I wanted to run out the room when the nurse started putting the first syringe in and felt quite fuzzy when the clear one went in ( I think that was the E). Left feeling pretty good but did struggle with some nausea last night so just took myself to bed. Feel a lot better today, went for a walk with my dogs this morning which really helped clear my head and had some toast for brekkie. Feel a bit tired but apart from that I'm ok. Not looking forward to the injection Katie11 as my oncologist said they can cause bone ache? x

Thanks Mai7. Pretty nervous but also keen to get it started as have no idea how it will affect me and once i do i feel i can start to plan a bit better! Never thought I'd wish the summer away but can't wait for end of August!! x

Hi misyangel, I start on Wednesday and am planning to work during my treatment. Was hoping to have Wed to Sunday off and then work from home the next week and maybe office on the third week. My onolcoigst told me that colds/coughs weren't such a factor, it was all about bacterial infections so didn't think office work would be bad. What have people reccomendations been about being around people? x

Thanks for your advice Julie. My boyfriend has spent the day making crystallized ginger sweets for me to help with the nausea and have got my peppermint tea and boiled sweets today to take with me! Good luck to everyone starting this week xx

I start on 10th May and after reading all the posts feel very unprepared!! Feel silly that I never even thought of things like a sick bucket in the car! I'll also stock up on peppermint tea as been on the green up to now! How have your energy levels been? Are you able to get out of the house? The fatigue is one on my main concerns as we have 2 giant breed dogs and I love going out every day with them. A few people have said that non strenuous activity is good to do if up to it xx

Hi, I have the same worries as you Raitchr about the cold cap. At first i thought what the hell, i may as well try but as ive read more about it I am thinking not. I have quite long dyed blonde hair and I am always blowdrying or straightening it and think i would be more self concious walking out the house with huge dark roots and hair that I can't style or wash. Plus the extra chemo time doesn't appeal and the nurse mentioned to me about the chemo cells not reaching your scalp as well. Think it might be different if it was a guarantee but I could still lose it all! Went to the wig clinic at the hospital on Thurs and was really surprised how realistic they are so going back next week to try some styles like mine and think that's the way I'm going to go, really keen to get my wig in place as soon as possible. Hi, I'm due to start chemo in a couple of weeks and am thinking about using the cold cap. I have read quite a few posts about them which mainly seem to be positive but was after the top guidance for when you are having the chemo and how best to look after your hair? So far I have Take paracetamol an hour or so before Wear a stretch headband over forehead and ears Have something good to entertain over first 10 mins Use organic shampoo Wash hair as little as poss (couple of times a week) No blow drying, straightening etc No dying Any other advice would be Great! Find the forums on here amazing for advice on how to get through it and little tips people have picked up! xx

Hi, I am due to start chemo in a couple of weeks so thought I would get a head start on organising a wig. I am currently having all my consults and treatment in Chester (england) but have been told that my chemo will probably be in wales as I live just over the border and have a Welsh postcode. I went to a wig specialist in Chester today who has said that even though I am not on low income I should still get something towards a wig as it is for cancer treatment, is this correct? Also, she said that as she is in england and my chemo is wales I may not be able to go to her with my nhs prescription as the nhs wales won't fund nhs wig suppliers in england and has advised me to contact my bcn? Has anybody else been in this situation, had looked through a few and was happy with this supplier so not sure what to do, can go private with her but she said I would probably lose out of a fee hundred pounds that I am eligible for? Thanks xx

Hi, thanks for all the positive replies, I am having a lumpectomy and lymph node biopsy in just under 2 weeks and then the plan I chemo which is the part that scares me as at the moment I don't feel ill at all. My bcn said that people can function whilst having it but was after some realistic views on what that means? How do people feel day to day whilst having the treatment? Is it worse in the few days straight after and then gets better? x

Hi, I am 33 and last week was diagnosed with grade 3 triple negative breast cancer. I have my surgery booked in for April with chemo after and have my fertility app next week. My consultant didn't seem concerned about being triple negative but after reading up about it I am more concerned as I didn't realise that it was rare. Does chemo work as well on this type of cancer as it seems like they don't know as much about it? Is the only treatment difference that they don't offer hormone therapy? Really new to this and all happening very quickly so was just after some guidance and advice from people who have experienced this beforemail Thanks x
