Back from my first Taxotere, all went well. Had MRI results while I was there and my tumour has shrunk for 25mm to 17mm after 3 cycles so I'm very pleased with that. Morning ladies, I've just been for my bloods ready for cycle number 4 tomorrow. It will be my first taxotere and I've just been informed that it's a lot harsher than the EC. Ladies I'm having a wobble 😞 I had an MRI scan last week as I'm halfway through threatment so the surgeon wanted to see how the tumour is reacting to chemo. I've psyched myself up for the last 9 days to deal with whatever the results may be. I got to my 1 o'clock appointment and wasn't seen until 2:10 just to be told my results arnt back. I'm having chemo before surgery so this was my way of getting some answers as to whether or not the chemo is working. I use up all my energy staying positive and this has just set me back. I feel like there just no end to the disappointment. And if I hear 'just stay positive' again I will lose the plot ... View more

Thanx for all the replies regarding illness and nursery. It is a tough one I really don't want him to miss out he's only 3 and loves nursery. I also think that you carry the chicken pox virus with you before the spots appear don't you so the children that actually do have them would have carried it for days beforehand so is there any point keeping him away afterwards? I'm not in touch with my oncologist like most woman on here are I've actually only seen him once but I will make some phone calls in the morning and see what is best to do. Thanx again ladies x ... EC round 3 went well, appointments so much quicker when not using the cold cap. Been sent home with my usual goodie bag but with extra steroids to take before my next round which changes to taxotere. I read a lot about ladies going to oncologist appointments, I haven't seen mine since he gave me my treatment plan 😕 have seen my surgeon though so maybe that's the way it goes for me having had my chemo first. Hi ladies I just thought I'd share my good news for the day. I had my results for my BRCA gene tests and they came back negative. I also had an appointment with my surgeon to discuss my surgery options for after my chemo. He did an examination and is now unable to find my lump, which is fantastic news 🙂 x ... View more

Hi Alice, I have had two rounds of EC I did the cold cap both times. It's bareable. The first 5 to 10 mins you have to grit your teeth and get into abit of a zone but after that it just feels numb. I was also terrified of loosing my hair, I felt if I did do the cold cap at least I was trying and it gave me abit more control! However it hasn't worked for me and I have had to shave my head after the second session. It does work for some and not for others. Good luck Annie x ... View more

Yes Annie I'm keeping my bra on it's seems to help. The exit site is fine that's not bothering my that much it's just the plaster on my neck pulling like mad. I'll have to try and find out who I phone and I have no number for the community nurses yet. Thanx for the advice ladies will have to bare with it for now xx ... View more

Hickman line friends, do I have to wait for the nurse to remove the plaster on the entry site? And does it need to stay covered until the stitch is removed (I know the exit site does) The plasters really tight and driving me mad 😡 ... View more
