Hello ladies. Thank you for all your lovely comments about my good news. Pippin, I did leave like a bat out of hell but my heart is still on this site. I keep up to date every few days because in such a short time I got to know you all so well.  It has been an experience joining this site and tbh I still wonder whether the doctors are right.  I'm no longer on Letrozole and can tell you that my aches and pains have reduced considerably so Carolyn was right about that causing the most pain.  Still waiting patiently for them to deal with my slipped disc and yesterday attended my first music festival using a mobility scooter for the first (and hopefully last) time. That was an eyeopener as well. Spent quite a bit of time being ignored and feeling lonely because couldn't get in with the crowd. But I blinged up the cart, covered my head in flowers and once I'd mastered the controls, shot through the crowds with a huge smile.  I know I'm lucky and I've had an insight into how secondary breast cancer feels but I still belong here albeit as an outsider looking in. Good evening ladies. I've not been on for a while because had confusing information from different consultants. Still not had biopsy because it's too small and the neurologist feels that its atypical haemangiomas, which are benign tumours. The oncologist said several weeks ago that she wasn't sure whether it was cancer or possibly a lesion that has previously healed. So, I'm having an MRI after three months to check what's happening. I've been following all your news and think you're all amazing! Also, incredibly busy because my co teacher is off and preparing to pass on old class and find out about new.  I will let you know what happens next but meantime, hugs and best wishes to everyone. Lots of newbies on this thread. Welcome everyone. I joined about two months ago and like everyone else was in complete shock at diagnosis of secondary Mets on spine. Now I know I have lots of support and advice when I need it and am learning all the time about the vast army of treatments available for breast cancer. Still waiting for biopsy but taking the tablets and getting on. Reduced my days at work from next September, only to be rewarded with more responsibility (no extra money) but it seems my headteacher thinks I'll be around for a while.  Good luck to everyone waiting for results and treatment plans and big hugs.  FF belated thank you for your lovely reply last week. Maybe, I've given the wrong impression. I agree our children are exposed to too much, but not at school. We teach them about changes to their bodies in puberty, personal hygiene and the correct names for body parts. Sadly, the correct names is needed because it enables children to talk about abuse. When this was introduced, most of the staff were unhappy but now realise that there is a need. We have had at least two disclosures following these lessons. As for gays and other minorities, we have different families, same love. Again, this is because we have children with two mummies or two daddies and whatever your beliefs, nobody wants a child to be treated badly because they don't belong to a standard family.  Carolyn, our grandchildren seem to have far too much, although they don't seem to be as spoiled as others. They are very sporty and the two boys are going to America in the summer to represent England in ice hockey. What I feel they do miss is messy stuff. Jellytot. You definitely sound more positive and your onc is doing a fantastic job. Those nine more rads will fly by. Did you get given a trendy little tunic number? At the Christie, they give you a fancy top with press studs to keep for the four weeks. It was much nicer than some of the hospital robes I've endured. It's hard to keep dignity intact when the back of your gown is gaping open!  FF. The nurse didn't show up in the end so has been rescheduled. We've had some very strong views from some parents. We're trying to make their kids gay and teenage pregnancy is a government conspiracy. It's all good fun being a teacher. Didn't get my biopsy. Got to see the scan pictures and specialist said it will be a struggle to get a biopsy but referring me to another department to have a try. My pain can be treated three ways. I can have a new drug that has side effects of making you tired and loopy (doctors word). So not having them. I can have an op with six weeks recovery, which would mess up my holiday and first ever music festival. So I plumped for steroid injection and if that doesn't work, ill have the op. Carolyn. Our babies were found under a mulberry Bush when I was growing up, which is a little confusing in inner city Manchester in the early 69s. There weren't many bushes and trees! The sex ed is delivered by the school nurse but I have to keep the boys occupied whilst the nurse talks to the girls. My bit starts next week in science. These boys are the worst we've seen, so much so that the head says we're all going to Manchester to celebrate next year when we pass them on to high school.  ... View more

Just got home from work so leg being rested on settee. Hope all went well today Jellytot, though I expect you'll be too tired to let us know yet. That's a long day and its very hot.  I've looked at appointment letter for neurologist and I get the feeling the biopsy won't be done tomorrow because there's no suggestion of it on the letter. No number to ring. Waited four weeks now for this and want to know what we're dealing with. I did have bloods done for tumour markers on Monday so I suppose that might show something. Good evening ladies and welcome to Renee - sorry to hear you've been having such a hard time. There's a lot of support on here. So keep in touch. Positive meeting with oncologist today. Still not had biopsy but she says mets on spine are so small that my slipped disc is the bigger problem. She thinks I may have had them a while and my previous cancer drugs have made them smaller. Not told my family til I have more information but we're looking at long term so I'm still aiming for 91. Hugs to everyone. Call the fashion police I'm wearing them again at CarFest. Might change the ribbon though. Finally got an appointment for spine biopsy. Can't say I'm looking forward to it. Going Thursday and assume I'll be off work on Friday. Carolyn. Got leg up resting. Toms are a sneaker type shoe. They have an elastic insert to hold foot in and comfort sole. I only buy the laced up ones and only in the sales. Find them very comfortable and for every pair bought Toms provide a pair for a child in third world. ... View more

You caught me out! I always wore heels until about 8 years ago but the sensible flats are worn most of the time now. Toms are my latest comfort shoe - I've turned into my mother!
