Hi all, I am almost 3 years post mastectomy (immediate reconstruction with implant), and I am nor considering DIEP flap, as I am not happy with the way I look. Can anyone share experiences? I know its a big op, so I am wondering if the pain and recover are worth it in the end for the results xx Lots of love to all you beautiful ladies (and men) xx

I am one year post mastectomy and lymph node clearance.....no further treatment (apart from Tamoxifen) needed. I had my regular smear test that has come back with changes, and I am now pooping myself! The letter says that I need not worry as HPV test was fine, but the letter has come from the screening centre, so they don't know my history...Any advice? x

Hi Tina! I am so glad that I am not the only one suffering weight gain! I am 48, peri-menopausal, and also was thinking of stopping tamoxifen. I hate the side effects, but I am hoping that the benefits outweigh the downside. I don't want to go through the trauma of having cancer again, so if a bit more weight etc are the way forward, then so be it! I am still trying to come to terms with things 6 months later, and it is tough....the thought of me stopping the tamoxifen and having another diagnosis is a few years time is uncomprehensable! Stick with it, and we can be "fat" together! xxx

Ok...so i am 6 months post MX, recon and axillary clearance..tamoxifen is my treatment. I have a BIG family get together in the New Year, and I think mostly, they all know....some are people that I have not seen for YEARS! But my question is (as they will ask)..what do I say? Do I say " I have cancer"...or "I HAD cancer, and now cured"...or " I'm in remission"...How do I describe myself now?? I know it sounds daft, but I have a big family, and this is one thing that the books don't tell you about...how do you describe yourself??

I am 6 months post Mx and reconstruction + axillary clearance. Treatment is tamoxifen only. I was doing really well, but noticed that my "boob" had become painful, red and swollen. I saw my BCN today who took pictures to show consultant, and said its possibly a build up of lymphatic fluid.The consultant will see picture to decide wheteher he needs to see me or not. Anyway, my question is...Is there ANYTHING I can to to alleviate the pain? I am taking strong painkillers and they aren't touching it! Would ice help...any suggestions would be welcome, just so I can get more than 2 hours sleep x

After Mx and axillary clearance, my "follow up" is just tamoxifen...no rads, no chemo..thats it! I am one lucky bunny....but 6 months later, I am finding myself in a massive panic! I am still in pain, have a persistsant cough, and still feel like I have a golfball in my armpit! Hot flushes are amazing, and I am constantly exhausted (not just tired). Please someone tell me that this is normal??

For those that may remember me...my mastectomy, and following axillary clearance...my U2 Concerts, and holiday to Turkey.....well I have just got back from my second trip to Turkey...YES!! twice is as many months!!!...Life is for living after all! I am still struggling a bit with what has happened, and I am not sure where life will take me next, but ladies...you have one life...LIVE IT!!! Much love to all of you out there....xxxxx

I have just seen oncologist, and it seems that my "journey" has been a short one...I will now be on tamoxifen...No rads, no chemo, nothing else needed.! I am so relieved, that although it has been tough, I am finally seeing that my life can return to normal (whatever that is). I will not be posting on here as much, but I will check back once in a while to see how you lovely ladies are getting on. I want to thank each and everyone of you for your support, even if you haven't made a comment, but just by knowing you are there, has been a HUGE help! Thoughts, prayers and lots of love to you all xxx

Hi Bushy Please try not to worry. The reaction you are having is perfectly normal. We have all at some stage, thought the same as you! I was convinced that I had it everywhere, until my mind was put at rest by the doctors. It is not an easy time, and is very worrying. Talking to other ladies on here really helped me in realising that I wasn't alone in dealing with things. Hopefully your appointment will be a "good one", and once you know what you are dealing with, it does get a little easier xxx

Hi Cw1805, Welcome (not really the right word), but you are not alone here! We are all ages, all races, all creeds and all colours, which goes to show that cancer has no preferences! It is all a mind boggler in the early days, and you will be in a spin, but as others have said...stay away from Google! Sadly, waiting for confirmation and all results is all part of the rollercoaster, but you will feel much better once you have a definite diagnosis and treatment plan. Sending you "virtual hugs" xx

My implant (I've named her Mavis), is 2 months old now, but I have over the past few days, noticed a considerable change in her shape and size. Initially, she was fab, but now, not so 😞 I am due to go on holiday in 4 weeks, and was really looking forward to it...now because of the way Mavis is behaving, I am getting massive anxiety issues! I need some reassurances from any lovely ladies if this is to be expected/normal, or is something going wrong? I know I may be being a bit vain, but it is becoming quite obvious now!
