Hello. Just back from my hospital appointment and good news. No sign of any lump and both mammogram and ultrasound were clear .Unfortunately in my absolute relief at the good news, I didn't ask what could have caused the indent and wasn't told. Do you think it might say in the clinic letter? I am still a bit concerned about it being unexplained and a little bit worried that something could have been missed. I have been very anxious though and am telling myself that I was seen at a centre with an excellent reputation. Virtually everything I read on the internet beforehand suggested that an dent/puckering was always bad news so I wanted to come back on and give my side of the story. Hi Kate I know exactly how you are feeling. I've also been referred and time seems to be standing still waiting for the appointment to come round. My anxiety has been crippling and has definitely been made worse by Googling. I am just trying to get through it day by day but am really struggling. Good luck with the waiting and your appointment.

Thank you for your kind words. I'm driving my husband mad as I can't stop going on about it. I know that he is worried sick too and me talking about it non stop isn't helping. I've convinced my self today that I can feel my breast swelling. Really hope it is just my imagination going into overdrive.

Thanks both. The rational part of me knows that you are absolutely right. Unfortunately I'm quite anxious about health in general, so anxiety has absolutely taken over. I'm actually looking forward to being back in work tomorrow so that I can stop poking, prodding and googling! I've got a feeling that these are going to be the longest 12 days of my life!

Hi there. I've been referred to the breast clinic after seeing my GP about an indent in my breast and am absolutely terrified. I noticed the indent a while ago but dismissed it. No idea how long it has been there for. I've got large boobs and have breastfed 2 kids for 12 months plus, so there aren't the perkiest. The indentation is quite big (I think) and is in the inner, lower part of my breast and is only really easy to see when my arms are raised. GP could see it easily but couldn't find any lumps or thickening. She was quite reassuring but I've made the mistake of googling and can find absolutely nothing positive about indentations being caused by benign reasons. Lots of horror stories about woman presenting with only a small indent and being diagnosed with advanced cancer. I know that only an ultrasound and mammogram can diagnose me properly but wondered if anybody had any experience of indentations being caused by non sinister issues? Appointment isn't until the end of the week after next and I am not coping well at all. I have no idea how to get through the day.

Hello Midwife. Can I join too? I went to the GP last week too because I'd noticed a large indentation in my breast when I raise my arms in the air. It has been there for a while but I'd dismissed it as one of those things. GP examined me and can't find a lump but has referred me to the breast clinic to have it checked out anyway. Still another 12 days until my appointment and I have no idea how I am going yo get through it. I know I shouldn't have done but I have Googled like mad and everything associated with an indentation seems to be bad news. I'm not eating, crying all the time (particularly when I see my small children) and just can't function. Wishing you all the luck in the world on Monday Midwife.
