Melia - I am so anxious too! I've never had anxiety before chemo, it's really changed me 😞 I was saying to someone the other day it's not the cancer that's ruined my life but the chemo.....I read so many comments from people where they tell newbies that chemo not as bad as you think it's going to be and I want to shout that no it's much worse in many cases.... obviously I don't want to scaremonger but sometimes it is really really awful for some of us. I really hope you are feeling ok and the side effects are kinder to you this time. Shaznee - good luck with your appt to see the oncologist today. How are feeling? Let us know what decision you make. Chemo is at 2pm so I will be rushing around all morning to get things sorted in case it hits me for six again but forever hoping this time will be easier. Take care all and huge huge virtual hugs x

I went to get my pre chemo bloods done today and spoke to a few of the nurses and have decided to do number 5 tomorrow as the oncologist agreed to reduce my dose. Now I'm home and I'm dreading it and kind of regretting saying yes, but on the other hand feel I should at least give the reduced dose a go, but I'll be honest and say I'm doing it because I don't want to let anyone down, especially my children, not because I want to, if that makes sense. No idea if I will do number 6 all depends how this one goes. It's so hard knowing what to do for the best.

Hi, I think I'm about to stop after 4 FEC. I've had enough, side effects have been awful, it's completely broken me. I was due to have number 5 a couple of days ago but have an infection in my gums which is agony, on antibiotics and I've decided that is the last straw and I'm done. last week when I asked the oncologist why I need 6 all she could say was it was protocol but there was no evidence for 6 instead of 4 and that my prognosis was good even just with hormone therapy (My cancer is 100% hormonally positive) I had surgery with clear margins and only 2 out of 13 nodes positive. Grade 2, stage 2b. I feel 4 is enough and just want to get on with radiotherapy now. obviously there is that slight worry in the back of my mind that it may come back if I don't do all 6 but then there are no guarantees either way and tbh I would rather take my chances now. I'm completely broken and spend most of my day crying. It's a really tough decision to make and I admit I do waver, it's so hard to know what to do without a look into the future.

I start FEC chemo next Thursday 6th July and having PICC line in on the day before. Feeling quite apprehensive! Good luck for your first one today Carol and yes I would love to join a Facebook group if you set one up, great idea! Hugs to all Debbie x

Hi, has anyone else experienced bloating and slow bowels after a lumpectomy and axillary clearance? i had my surgery on Friday and ever since I've been feeling really bloated and bunged up, although I have opened my bowels a couple of times. My appetite has not been good since surgery so I've not really eaten much but I feel As if I've eaten a 3 course meal all the time and look 8 months pregnant! It's a good job I'm still in pj's as I doubt my jeans would fit me at the moment! I wonder if it's due to the anaesthetic?

No, I haven't got district nurses, I'm an ex district nurse and current practice nurse and have looked after drains before so I declined them, silly me probably especially as it's so different being the patient!!! The breast care nurse rang me back and was excellent and told me to see what happens within the next 24 hours. It's actually still draining and no more leaks so I'm hopeful it was just a blip as it looks like it's still working, phew! Im terrible for trying to keep in control 😊

Aw Carole, it's such a constant worry isn't it. I hope you get some answers soon. good news is I slept much better with a load of pillows round me, but then earlier I caught my drain on a corner as I was walking past and when I checked it I noticed it's leaked a bit from the insertion site, I have rang the breast care nurse but it was an answerphone so have left my details, I hope I haven't done any damage as its still been discharging 100ml a day!

Hi all, This is my first post. Quick history, found lump about 3 months ago, mammogram, ultrasound, biopsy. Diagnosed with grade 1 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. Ultrasound said lymph nodes clear. had Wide Local Excision on Friday, Sentinel Node Biopsy showed cancer in it and the next node but third one clear, auxiliary clearance done ended up staying in overnight, drain in situ. I'm home, obviously feeling sore and if I'm honest feeling very sorry for myself knowing it spread to the lymph nodes. Original plan was radiotherapy but I'm assuming I will now need chemo as it spread to the lymph? Also, does anyone have any tips for sleeping with the drain, I'm paranoid I'm going to pull it out and it's so uncomfortable trying to sleep on my back trying not or move, hence no sleep last night! I tried going onto my good side but the bad boob feels draggy and when I try my bad side it just aches!!! i really want to get back to normal as soon as possible but I need sleep to do it!!! any help or ideas would be much appreciated.
