Ali..I have an appointment 5th Jan to check plans and a bone density scan and then radiotherapy starts 8th Jan... (wish it had been the week earlier..!!) which seems a long time since my chemo finished 3 and a half weeks ago..but xmas and new year have delayed my radiotherapy somewhat...how dare it..lol.. plus my hospital just seem to be slow at getting appointments done..lol Hope your op goes ahead ok on Friday Ali....will cross fingers xx Well done jog83 that is some shrinkage...!!! Ali..good luck for this afternoon, you will be fine and as Jo said they will be able to check the new lump you have found..it sounds like a cyst... Well done Jo and Cathy on your last chemos..hope the side effects are not to bad for you both.. Sib, hope things are going well for you too..Helen, fairy, Butterfly Ck, Mary-Kate, Xena, maHjfarn and anyone else I have forgotten..hope you are all well... I'm 3 weeks since last chemo and am feeling much better as each day goes by, my side effects were much more manageable with my 20% reduced dose..as was chemo number 5 ... the only problem I have now is pain, numbness and tingling in my toes which started when I went on to docetaxel, which is common on this drug..its bearable so will hope it eases over the next few weeks..I've also got swelling in my ankles, lower calf, fingers and eyelids which I've had for 5 days now..I'm hoping its an,allergic reaction to cashew nuts which I had last weekend. I don't think its lymphedema, as I had a itch with a rash on both ankles (hives) and my arm where lymph nodes were taken from is not swollen... I have taken antihistamine tablets and will see if it makes any difference. If not it will be a visit to the doctors...!! I've had a busy week last week, a visit from the girls I work with , sorting out christmas presents and shopping and although I'm feeling ok in myself I'm still very tired and finding it hard to get out of bed in the morning..I just want to stay all cozy and warm in bed..lol.. Hope all other August ladies are well and managing SEs .. I'm day 11 today and starting to feel a bit better in myself, just not sleeping well at the moment.. side effects have been like chemo 5 (with the reduced dose,) much more manageable , so glad this is the last time I will feel like this..I'm a person that's not ill very often and only had 3 sick days from my job in 11 years..so this last 4 months has been a struggle physically and mentally for me..I hate not being myself , but to get rid of this cancer its something we all have had to endure... onwards and upwards as they say... Sib, glad you managed ok with yesterdays chemo..and the new drugs..hope all is well with you..and I can understand you being upset and emotional about chemo and getting it over with , it must be a worry for you..I'm emotional most days..!! But so tired, so that may contribute..!! My nails are hood but I didnt paint them dark, I just left them with clear nail polish and so far no problems or no ridges... my toe nails are a little sore and they have dark nail varnish on them.!!.. ... Thanks Jo...I also had my 5th and 6th docetaxel reduced by 20% and a few extra steroids to help after my 1st docetaxel made me feel absolutely lousy and so depressed..I really struggled with my first t..!! But the next one was so much more manageable..made a big difference.. so I'm hoping this last one will be the same..yeah I will be happy when I get to next weekend and taste buds should resume to normal...!! And all the aches and pains are gone (thank god for epsom salts) !! I didn't enjoy Fec much either as I was really nauseous with it... Fairy and Helen , how did your chemos go on Monday? Thanks Ali, Mary-Kate, Sib and Butterfly for your lovely comments and welcome Jo to the lovely August thread.. I do appreciate that some of you who started beginning of August with your chemo have had a delay or two or have had hospital admissions and I know that must be frustrating and I know I was lucky in that respect, but there is light at the end of the tunnel very soon for you albeit a week or two later than planned and even tho my chemo has finished I'm still thinking of you all nearing the end and crossing fingers all goes well..!! Day 3 today and feeling good but tired..thanks to the steroids..!! Hoping side effects will be easier on me like last chemo was... manageable... Jo how did you find the Fec-T chemo ? Did you have any problems with the docetaxel ? I hope your surgery goes well. I had a lumpectomy with lymph nodes removed in June so just have radiotherapy to go in January... been a long 8 months for me with so many emotional ups and downs, but I think every lady on this forum has gone through this as well...some of the ladies have had a tougher journey than me, but they are a very strong, positive group... Hi August ladies. Hope everyone is well ? Well today I have just had my LAST CHEMO..!!!!! And I am so relieved its done and dusted..just got to get over the side effects then look forward to christmas..with radiotherapy to follow in January.. Hi Sib, Mary-Kate and Ali.. I too have felt very down and weepy more so on docetaxel than Fec...im struggling to focus on much and find any motivation..... I'm on day 16 today and apart from tiredness (keep waking at 6am and cant get back to sleep!!! grrr) I'm feeling ok ... My last chemo is monday 27th and after having seen oncologist yesterday, she is giving me the reduced dose still, which made a huge difference last chemo...!! It has been a long road so far and by the time I get radiotherapy in January it will have been a very long 8 months...!!! Sib glad your managing better now... Mary-Kate not long till your finished.. Hello August ladies, hope we are all well ... Sib and Fairy, I think we all have this niggle in the back of our heads about recurrence... I'm sure that's a natural feeling when going through breast cancer and its treatment , especially when we have young families...I certainly worry about it even though my kids are 24 and 30......xx MAHJfarn20 you sound like your going through a rough patch..stay strong..hope you feel better soon..were nearly there xx Happy belated 50th birthday Helen, hope you had a lovely day despite side effects..! X Well I'm on day 9 after 5th chemo (T) and apart from feeling fuzzy headed and tired and horrible taste in mouth , no appetite..I'm not feeling too bad, the 20% reduction in dose has really helped this time...I have still had all the usual side effects , but no where near as bad as chemo 4, 3,2 or 1..!!!! I've also had extra steroids days 3,4,5 which have helped also... I still have upset stomach and a toxic fuzzy head, but I've not had any days in bed feeling lousy like all the other chemos, I'm so glad my oncologist reduced my dose, it has definitely helped....just cant wait to get my taste buds back..its so hard to eat anything when it just tastes blah....I've now lost just over 2 stone in weight so reducing my dose was needed...lol I've been cold capping from the beginning of chemo and although my hair is thin and I've lost about 50% of it I still havnt worn my wig or a scarf and I've now got a cm or 2 of new hair growth coming through.. it feels like a fuzzy peach..!! Lol. although eyebrows and eyelashes are thinning !!! Thank god theres only one more cold cap to go....I don't think my hair can cope with much more....!!
