Good luck for Thursday Sam34. Hope your cold clears up. Day 2 of my chemo and after a severe day of sickness yesterday, not been sick today, felt very nauseous with heartburn and leg aches but still cant eat much. I seem to have felt a lot sicker than many so my advice is to try and get some good anti sickness in place just in case you are unlucky.

Good luck with everything Runnerbean. I was dreading thr picc line as they can never find a vein usually but this is different. First you have an ultrasound to see if it can be done, after that you are given a local aneasthetic and I just felt a bit of discomfort, a pushing sensation, you then have an heart scan to check it is away from your heart, all done whilst lying on the bed, I didnt look and it was done very quickly. It is not a problem once in it doesn't restrict your arm movements. I just have to have blood thinners as I have a clotting condition. Mine is going to be flushed every week at the hospital. Easy to get the chemo through it.

Hi Jay68. I have 2 Emend tablets, one for today and one for tomorrow, the other 2 lots I have do not work very well at all. Will see if the oncologist can give me all Emend next time round. Hopefully I am through the worst bud have District nurse number to ring if need the injection again. Yes have some gjnger in to take, thank you

Thank you Cassie, hope you feel better soon, and yes rest up today and hopefully you won't develop the sickness. strange how we all react differently but I can get travel sick so wonder if am more prone. District nurse has been to give me my white blood cell injection and left another number to call if start to feel really sick so they can come back. Soup is a good idea, I have kept down my toast so far which is a better sign. Are you having injections for 5 days for white blood cells? Am on steroids and course of antibiotics too X

I left off posting yesterday in case my experience was a little off putting. Today day 2 am feeling slightly better just waiting for the District nurse. All I can say is please make sure you have the strongest anti sickness tablets to bring home with you. The FEC injections themselves went fine left hospital at 12.30 pm and didn't start to feel unwell until 4.20 pm. I had had anti sickness tablet and again intravenously in the hospital so it must have worn off by then. I started to be severely sick and extremely nausea and couldn't keep the anti sickness tablets or water down. Looking on my sheet I had to ring the assessment unit if sick more than 6 times. After 5 times and pretty exhausted at this stage I rang the after hours District nurse and they came out at 10pm and injected me anti sickness in my thigh. I haven't been sick since, so far today I have had 2 lots of anti sickness, a tiny piece of toast as not been able to eat for 48 hours. If sick once before 4pm I have to ring the emergency assessment number. I really wasn't expecting this level of sickness as not sure if normal? Hopefully although am still feeling nauseous today I won't be sick. Best wishes to all who are going through treatment this week or next.

To be honest Chaffinch17 I was expecting the opposite too, havent got anything in for diarrhoea so must get it in, will have to see which way I go. I have been given Emend a good anti sickness from reading on here, one tablet to take before my treatment and one for the 2 days after, along with mouthwash.

Hi SueW, I havent felt ill at all, my injection site has been aching but I had it in my derrière as had the PICC line in one arm, and surgery under the other arm. Good luck with it x

Hi Reboot, glad your first chemo went okay. Your mum on board will be a brilliant help for you. Hope today the effects aren't too bad for you. I can understand them telling you to get the flu jab as early as you can, my injection site (the derrière) is so sore at the moment and my first chemo is tomorrow morning.

Hi SueW. We may have the same bc, it is highly oestrogen and progesterone positive but my HER status is under review, it initially was tested as negative but on retest came back borderline so was sent for a FISH test, they tried 3 times but the sample wasn't good enough so another sample has been sent off, if positive I will need herceptin alongside the last 3 chemo sessions. I havent looked for an outfit yet, I have lost over 2 stone since diagnosis (I needed to) and would like to lose some more if facing more operations but the steroids during chemo may not help.

Lol SueW, we are similar ages, I am 51. Because I am not classed as menopausal having not gone a full 12 months without a period I am down for ovary removal surgery after chemo and radiation therapy. I am mother of the groom in August 2018 so not sure I will be completely out of treatment by then before then starting 10 years of hormone therapy.

Welcome Marg. You may find you get a flu letter sent through the post, I did. I went to the surgery nurse who refused to do it until I had spoken to my oncologist. She did write down which flu jab they use at my doctors. My oncologist said I could have it before chemo started. Best to check with your own hospital though. Good luck at your appointments. You will get a chemo pack at one of your appointments with information on all the drugs you are being given and told the side effects that CAN happen. No you are definitely not alone, we can all support one another. Xx
