I was stage 3 with cancer in 12 lymph nodes in 2004. I had mastectomy chemo and radiotherapy then tamoxifen. It came back in my lungs in 2017 so I think for now remain positive take the drugs on offer and listen to your body report any changes that need investigating. There are many drugs for secondary breast cancer...mine has since spread further but I do stay hopeful.make the most of life and good luck

been a bad year to add to lung mets bone mets last october Docotaxel didnt work at alland spread to liver and abdomen. Just had Kadcyla for 6 months which worked initially but now spread to bowel and have ascites has shown up on the scan which explains the pain I have had. They have said with treatment 12 months maximum hence my dilemour I dont want to be really ill for that time and I was so ill on docotaxel ended up neutropenic every cycle and had to stop early.. just been given option of erubilin or vinorelbine not sure which way to jump. I have been told maximum life expectancy currently with amount of progression 12 months so just wondered which one would be kinder.

hi this happened to me also. I had been on capecitabine for 2 years then has progression to bones and liver. Docotaxel did nothing in fact the liver tumours grew whilst on it. I started Kadcyla in april and have had 2 scans that show stable but not sure how long that will last may be worth asking about it. I was told it can only be used when all other treatments have failed. Good luck

I was same mets but for me it was docetaxel which didnt work but so far 5 months in kadcyla is stopping growth. Have faith that there will be something even if its going back to tamoxifen or letrozole

Hi just finished docetaxel and had progression in liver and peritoneum as well as further spread in bones so they have said this is the next treatment for me. Did you lose your hair? Mine has gone on previous three months treatment just wondered if it will hrow back or i will remain bald

really sorry to hear that fingers crossed you get a little longer, and there are some treatments left. I have not been on for a while as my lung mets have been stable for 2 years then in october found massive spread to my pelvis hip and spine plus nodules on my liver. Just finished docetaxel which has been hell but made no difference so now waiting to see if scan in 6 weeks shows any further advance if so trying TDM1... hate this disease. you take care

Just about to start docetaxel after 2 years on capecitabine and herceptin due to "massive spread to bones and liver from ct in july to ct in october. Back to hair loss. I was told if this doesnt work nothing so referred to palliative care for pain relief and to be on their books for the future. Having stronger dose every 3 weeks but can change to weekly if i dont tolerate it well. Research shows 2 years maximum if it works before it becomes ineffective.....hard times ahead

hi very scary but as others have said read about the people who are still here years on. I was unsure but here I am 14 months on just live each day to the best of your ability and have no regrets, I find myself much less tolerant of events I really dont want to be at. Think positive....no one is guaranteed tomorrow!

hi just had results from ct scan which shows lung mets stable but the scan has shown up 2 more lesions on my spine ( previous scan showed one first scan showed none) Consultant thinks that it is possibly cancer that is resolving on treatment and that is why it is showing up. Bone scan in january was clear of cancer. I have no back pain to indicate anything . For the moment onc will monitor for any changes. Has anyone else had this where lesions show up

my diagnosis of lung mets was last July and I am on my 10th cyle of capecitabine and herceptin. I am awaiting my 2nd scan results previous one showed stable no growth which is what I am told is the expectation NOT for it to be reduced . Its all about managing the condition to buy us precious time to enjoy life andd there are so many on these chats that are 5 and 10 years on in trreatment which give me great hope. had suspicious lesions on my ribs but bone scan showed no mets just degeneration of bone.Untilits confirmed as bone mets live as if its not.good luck

Hi al got my scan results this morning. good news and bad news. Capecitabine has clearly done something as no growth in tumours in my pleural lining but now show lesion on my thoracic bones so suspect it has spread to my bones. Bone scan to be arranged over next few weeks, they seem surprised that I do not have lots of chest pain, but other than odd twinge that I put down to nerve damage from the biopsy I am pain free just get tired and breatless very easily. So good news for xmas but yet another waiting game.Hope you had good results from the scan George

Hi started Herceptin 6 weeks ago. Had the same reservations after reading the side effects but.....nothing of note. Felt very tired the first day after the injection but otherwise okay. My heart scan was at the lower end 56% so may not be able to stay on it but it does give good results. Also found that I am getting less side effects the longer I am on other drugs so fingers crossed. I do not have your other complaints as I am only 55 but hopefully it will be positive ...goood luck dont dwell too much on the side effects. Have you ever read paracetamol side effects they are horrendous its just that we dont always read household remedy drugs side effects. Fingers crossed. Let me know how you get on
