Thank you Helena Fetched my dog and cat home from the kennels this morning, so good to see them again. Have been feeling very tired today, more than usual. Gave in this afternoon and went for a lie down for a while, still tired though. Have been drinking loads, even got some fresh air in, but it has really hit me today! Hopefully tomorrow will be better. All the best everyone xxx

Thank you Helena, much appreciated. I arrived home around 4.30 this afternoon. I have been told things will get worse, sore wise, before it all heals. It is getting rather painful actually. I've been taking Letrozole since September but they stopped them last week for a few weeks break as I became unwell and quite depressed. I've suffered from depression for years anyway. I live in Wales so am lucky to have free prescriptions but thanks for mentioning it. I have an appointment with my GP booked for next Wednesday but was told the dressings I received today should last 4 weeks. Thanks again pili pala xxxx

Thank you Helena Had my last treatment at 10 this morning Have been given some mepilex dressings to help with the soreness. She said it is what they use on burn victims so hopefully they'll do the trick for me. Will have my lunch here at the hostel and then pack up ready to go home. Transport is due somewhere between 2-3 but needs to come from Liverpool first so there might be some delay. Looking forward to going home now. I wish all you ladies all the luck in the world and whether you're about to start or still going through rdiotherapy, just remmber you will get through it, the end will come and you'll be able to live again.

Haven't posted much so far. I'll be having my last session tomorrow morning, then I can go home 🙂 I've been staying in the hostel at my cancer centre as it is just too far to travel every day. Makes more sense this way. My skin is ok so far just very sore underneath the breast itself, not sure if wearing a bra during therapy has helped with that at all. Good luck to everyone else going through it, you will get there, we are survivors!!

Hi, I waited 16 weeks after my lumpectomy to start radiotherapy. I am now 8 down 7 to go. I too am worried that I've had to wait for so long! They were between two minds to give me chemo, decided against it, but that wouldn't have held things up. My scars healed up well and there were no complications, so don't really know why the delay?

Hi all, I had my second dose of radiotherapy today. The whole thing took about an hour! They kept measuring, marking and lining up, think they left the room about 3-4 times. Each time I thought right this is it, but then they'd return and adjust things again. I understand that they need to be careful and get things right and I'm grateful for their efforts. Once it was finished though, and I was getting my stuff together to leave, the nurse apologised for taking so long but it is likely to be like that every session where I'm concerned. She said this was because I had a bra on and they're not used to it. I had no idea of this before I just assumed everyone wore one since they asked me to. Do any of you ladies wear a bra during treatment? Not sure why I have to?!

Hi Helena Thanks for the tips. I'm having 15 in total. I travelled there and back today, will do again tomorrow (took nearly 6 hours today!), but from Monday onwards they have booked me a room at their hostel. Hope this will help with the tiredness as well as travelling and missing meals really takes its toll already.

I had my first session today. Wasn't sure what I was expecting to be honest but I didn't think I'd spend another half an hour been measured and marked. Feel reliefed now that the first one is over, at least I have more of an idea what to expect from now on.

H,i I had my CT and tattoos yesterday and I start rads next Thursday. What I wanted to know is should I buy a cream or something to moisturise the skin beforehand, and if so what is best? It is very comforting to read that you are coping well ladies. I am rather emotional these days.

Hi all, I can't remember what brand I was when I started on Letrozole last month but as previously mentioned on here, the side effects weren't pleasant at all! I picked up a new prescription on Thursday, these are a different brand, Sardoz. I know it is still early days but so far the hot/cold flushes are still definately there, day and night. I am extremely tired and feel my eyes are getting worse again. (I suffered badly with dry eyes and constant pain in them for about 3 weeks with previous brand and was just getting over it!) I really hope I don't get a repeat of last month! The light headedness and dizzy spells are hard to live with too. I try to remind myself daily that I'm taking them for my own benefit and that they could save my life, but it is already getting hard to convince myself of this. Please tell me it gets better.

Hi, I've been on Letrozole for the last month now. So far the side effects have been really bad. Lack of sleep due to nights sweats and waking up hot and cold as I throw away and pull on the quilt is making me very tired. I also suffered badly with dry eyes for about 3 weeks and could hardly keep them open. Thankfully an emergency appointment at the opticians who supplied me with good strong eyedrops helped and it has finally cleared now. For the past week or so though I have been feeling quite light headed and dizzy when doing the smallest of things. I'm dreading what is ahead of me! Anyone any idea how long the night sweats will last please? I've only been on them a month and had enough already. Have 9 years 11 months to go.

Hi and thanks for the welcome. My oncology team are fully aware of my MH issues. I was even assessed by oncologist last week to see if I had the mental capacity to sign the consent form for rads! I still don't feel that I'm in a right state of mind to decide either way though. How long have everyone been waiting between surgery and starting rads? I was initially told when I was diagnosed that it would start 8 weeks after surgery, it has already been 13, with no complications in between, and I'm getting worried that it won't have the same effect the longer I have to wait. Could be another 3 weeks before I actually start. Is this normal? Am I worrying over nothing?

Hi you lovely ladies. I just got a phone call this afternoon to say my planning appointment is next Wednesday, 1/11, so I guess I'll be joining you all for rads in November! I had my lympectomy back in July, which seems like ages ago now, and at the end of August was told that chemo wasn't for me. I started on Letrozole a month ago and will be on them for the next ten years. Apart from the bc I also suffer severly with my mental health and am in such a bad place right now I have been considering stopping all treatments. I'm still unsure to continue or not. I wish you all well on your journey. xxx

Hi Anniej, I'm glad you are doing well, I'm looking forward to seeing my grandkids growing up too, I have one due in a couple of weeks. I appreciate your support and it gives me hope that I can get through this. CK, thank you for liking my name, pili pala is Welsh for butterfly, and I'm hoping to be set free from cancer one day, just like a butterfly from its cocoon. I hope it goes well for you on Wednesday, I wish you luck and will be thinking of you. I'll be going next Tuesday myself. I suppose it is natural to have ups and downs, I'm just finding it hard as I switch so often in a day. I suffer with my mental health as it is and all this worrying is making things worse. I'd rather start chemo asap so I can get it over and done with then I can put this whole thing behind me. It will be another milestone I have conquered!

Hi CK Sounds like we're both at the same stage, maybe we can support each other through this. I'm sorry that you are so worried about your appointment, can you call your nurse and tell her how you're feeling and ask what to expect? Quite often the fear of the unknown is worse than the actual event. The more you know what to expect the better you can prepare yourself for it. I don't know what to expect either and I'll probably worry too nearer the time. Maybe you could fill me in after you've been? Hope you'll be ok, take care xx

Thank you Anniej it helps to hear from someone who has been through it themselves. Glad you've got good support network, my nurses have been good to me so far too. I like your idea of keeping a diary, I might try that too. I have decided to defer my OU course until next year, I have enough on my plate now without having the pressure of doing assignments too. Finally spoke to the nurse this afternoon. I am to see oncologist on the 22nd to discuss having chemo. Apparently I have grade 3 cancer. Though I'm not looking forward to having treatment I just want to start now to get it over and done with.
