Hi girlies! Lovely to see so many of you at the meet up. Can't wait to meet the rest of you in October. I've been getting an itchy scalp for the last week Buddy so I think it must be new hair coming through. My hair feels very thick now so it's time for a cut this week! Oooh Ali going for the hair colouring - post a picture - I'm trying to decide whether to stay grey or not! Ali - you and I were always around the same time with chemo - I've just passed my year since diagnosis Birthday on 38th July when is yours? Jencat I ended up getting my husband to collect me from Epsom but the barriers wouldn't acknowledge my card as I was one stop outside zone 6 so I had to drive back to Ewell to end my journey or they would have charged me an extra £10 penalty fare!! So pleased to read the positive news about your genetics test Jencat! Brilliant news. Sorry to hear you've got a couple more weeks of rads than you thought- it's very tiring isn't it?! Be careful going back too soon. I went back to work full time four and a half weeks after last Radiotherapy session but found the first four weeks very hard coping with stress of a normal work day. I have found I'm less resilient and cope with conflict less effectively. I still get very tearful! So glad sun is shinning though and I'm managing to get some lovely walks in before work in the morning! Hugs to all x ... View more

Brill news Buddy so pleased you can go on holiday and enjoy a brighter outlook. So are we all done now with rads and surgery? Anyone still going? I had my first follow up app with drs yesterday and had to deal with unexplained tears as the nurse was doing my blood pressure! I think I am struggling with balancing work and home and husbands redundancy and me time! Guess what gets left off the daily schedule! Would be nice to still be home each day but so far timings have all fallen into place so I can't complain! Hugs xxC ... View more

Jencat - so hard for our children, hope you can find some support for them. I wonder if there is a forum on here they could start up? Buddy - hope your reunion with your son was wonderful! I went bare headed to work today and was soooo nervous about it! Especially walking into the staff for the first time! It was fine, got a couple of quizzical looks! Hi ladies, It's so excited to see eyelashes and eyebrows returning to normal and I have a lovely crop of hair on my head now! I'm so sorry I can't join you in August - I was probably the only one who could do 5th August or 28th June! Oh Jencat - I'm really feeling for you right now and sending you hugs. It must be hard not being sure of the outcome and having worries which are unconfirmed. But you're right it would be unlikely to have developed something cancerous while on chemo. Try to keep busy and occupy your thoughts with positives. Sending lots of love! Runnerbean I am sure that the relatives who have not been in touch will feel awkward too. It's hard when people don't come through for you but sometimes it's best to rely on those who can and talk about something else with those that can't! I did have one friend say "oh you are doing so well you don't need any help from me.." and I simply said "yes that's right, there are lots of other friends who have been there to see me through the difficult weeks." You will find the right words for you I'm sure, but I know I didn't get through the last 8 months on my own but because of the people who were there for me! Hi Girls, Lovely to catch up on all your news and glad so many of you through rads well. I've had a lot of peeling skin which still looks awful but it's not sore anymore which is good. I went back to work on 26th March as I had yr13 mock exams to run but on two weeks Easter break now so I'm getting rest! Went up to London for a show on Wednesday and visited the cafe I mentioned.its called Brigit's Bakery and is behind the Coliseum. There are tables that can be pushed together and I'm sure we can reserve an area - I can only do 30th June and 7th July. I know it's hard to find a date everyone can do - especially a Saturday in the summer! Got a big family get together for my Aunts 75th on Sunday - it will be the first time since I saw them the day after my diagnosis and shared my news! Most of them have been kind and caring, sending cards, emails, texts and some have visited. It feels weird though being through the treatment, wanting to get back to normal but knowing that normal has shifted and you won't ever be the same! Burst into tears unaccountably during my Herceptin injection yesterday 6/18 - I think it's all only starting to dawn on me now! Sending big hugs to you all! Xx ... View more

Ali I've been very tired the last few days and Meesh often getting up in the morning has been the most difficult part! Trying to stay healthy but I'm very conscious that now I'm on Tamoxifen that I am piling on the ounds despite trying to get my 10,000 Fitbit steps in each day! Hope you all have a peaceful and lovely Mother's Day with the people you love and those who have been able to Mother you over the years andcparticularly recent months. Sometimes it's not possible to have a mother who can do all that but we are gifted with female friends who possess that mothering instinct! Buddy - sending you lots of love today. I know it's really hard to see the positives when faced with your diagnosis. My auntie lived with a terminal diagnosis for three years- she lived to experience the changes in modern medicine which meant a cure was found via previously unavailable Radiotherapy. She has been cancer free for three years. Finding things to be happy for and making the most of each day is good and I commend you for your inspiring approach. Hi girlies, Good to hear we are slowly returning to normal with hair growing back! My nose hair has returned this week but I'm not sure if I have an ingoing hair or just a swollen gland but I have a very sore left nostril! My eyelashes are a couple of mm long and some eyebrow hair coming through - not enough to leave the eyebrow pencil behind though! Useful bag of goodies at last weeks LGFB but nothing I didn't know and a bit patronising at times. My hair is coming back grey and thick but it's only 2mm long - chemo finished on Jan 18th so about 7 weeks ago now. Am using ph balanced conditioner, lush soap, and extraordinary oil by Garnier. Have a real sweet tooth at the moment which I can't shake off despite largening waistband....:( My OH has gone a hot flu and wonders why I won't hug him...! He's had me up and down the stairs with cups of tea and meals .... grrrrr....... but I guess it's his turn now! Had #8/15 radiotherapy sessions today- am also having the wax bolus to increase dose to skin. Already pink and prickly heat type soreness is irritating. Hope rest of you doing ok - keep doing exercises post op girls - I read we should be doing same exercises while having rads - has anyone else heard that? Hugs xx ... View more

Morning ladies Hope you can enjoy the snow and it's not inconveniencing you - stay wrapped up warm. The four of us has a lovely wintery walk in it to the pub for fish and chips last night! The girls school was probably the only school in Surrey that stayed open, so they deserved a treat! Sue I know what you mean about appointments I had one at 5.40, then 2.30 and Mondays is 9.40am makes it hard to plan anything else! But I did manage to go to a lovely coffee morning to a friends who's daughter has an inoperable brain tumour. Makes you realise how lucky some of us are to be able to have an operation or treatment that is potentially going to eradicate our cancers. It was good to eat cake and raise a glass to anyone on chemo with inoperable tumours. Stay strong, keep dancing and live each day to the full! You are all marvellous women 🙂 Love you all, Cx ... Hey girlies! Wow it's just taken me an hour to read 15 pages of posts....! Can't believe how quickly the last two weeks have gone by! Had Rad #5 today so I am a third of the way through now. It's now snowing outside and I'm not sure we will be able to get out of our road to take girls to school in the morning! I've just submitted my February time sheet for work and I think it will mean that my full pay sickpay will run out on 20th March. So it's back to work FT for me the week after rads finish...! Not sure how that's going to be as I've been told the worst effects are between 2-5 weeks after last Radiotherapy. At the moment I'm just a bit pink and tired! But OH is being made redundant in April so I don't have a choice! At least it's nearly the Easter holidays! Can't believe the cost of travel insurance now we have to declare cancer! Glad I've booked a weekend treat for me and my 16 yr old daughter to celebrate end of GCSEs hugs to you all - stay safe in cold tomorrow and sleep well xxx ... View more

Hey everyone good to see you are all on here still. Great that you are out and about Cassie so soon after op. Lovely picture ladies - glad you Norfolk girls got to meet up. Hope you are having a lovely time away Shi. Have had my Tamoxifen delayed until I start Rads on 22nd due to nuropathy in fingers and feet and stiffness in my joints. Is anyone else taking any supplements? Am thinking about starting Curcumin and omega 3 to see if that helps with menopause symptoms. Hugs to you all x ... View more
