Oh Camilla - I’m so sorry to hear that. To echo some of the other points though - the herceptin should kick some ass if you continue on that. Iv read some pretty wonderful things about this drug. I didn’t have full axillary clearance but I had a lumpectomy and and 3 nodes removed and found having a front zipping bra a god send. Make sure you do the exercises they give you! 😊 😊 xx ... Oh Unicorngirlmummy - I’m sorry to hear your news 😞 ... don’t be sorry for being gloomy. We are all rooting for you. Hopefully they have a plan in place and as you say... third time lucky and hope it’s gone once and for all xxx Cathsin - the Herceptin was fine. Just an injection in the thigh which they put in slowly over about 5 min. I have had Herceptin already with chemo so this is the first time on its own. The only side effect (so far!) is a horrible taste in my mouth. If that’s all though... I won’t complain! Thanks Kirsty - yep seems like it’s pretty standard then. Kirsty - I met with my surgeon yesterday and I’m in next Tuesday for a WLE and lymph node removal — they said they take some of the sentenial nodes just to test?? They don’t show as affected on the scans but I’m guessing this is just precautionary? Just having my first Herceptin on its own as we speak!! Eeeek! X ... View more

Oh no Cathsin - sorry to hear you are still in hospital although I will say if you do have a blood transfusion you should feel so much better Afterwards! I had one a couple of weeks ago and found my final round of side effects to be so much more manageable! I’d got used to seeing my pale face in the mirror so it was a shock to see red cheeks! I hadn’t realised quite how aneamic I’d become!! Sorry to hear they sprung that on your Camilla - have they said why? I’m definitely with you on the Baby steps Karebear! I’m a few days ahead of you in the cycle but can totally relate with the goals! I’m now setting myself small walking goals as my fitness is now at rock bottom!! Xx ... View more

Thank you ladies 💖 💖 💖 I still have surgery, rads and Herceptin to go ... so still a long way yet in terms of treatment but I guess I never ever want to repeat that chemo experience again!! I’m waiting on hearing back on some counselling so hoping that might help!! I do feel a bit better today... I’m sure the chemo drugs going around the system never help with the dark thoughts! Good luck with the pathology results Kirsty... I have heard great things about the tax/Perjeta combo so I’m hoping a PCR happens for you! I’m also super nervous about that too! I asked my oncologist how quickly pathology results came back after surgery as I knew I’d be climbing the walls waiting for an answer!! I’m sure I have asked this before.... but did you have any lymph nodes biopsies before hand or did they just use scans to decide if they were/weren’t involved? Xx ... View more

Hi Ladies! So glad to see so many of you having your last rounds this week! Hope the side effects are kind to you all! Had my last one last week - in typical fashion I went out with a bang! 🙈 ... to cut a very long story short, my port kinked/split halfway through so I ended up having my Carboplatin through a cannula! Needless to say the thing is coming out pronto! Been nothing but agro. I also ended up being in hospital on Good Fri for a blood transfusion. Seems 6 cycles of tax/carbo took its toll. Feeling much better now though and hoping to be out of the worst of the side effects. Just got lingering acid reflux and horrible mouth. Got my scans next week to see how chemo has performed and then seeing the surgeon the week after. 👍🏻 Feel majorly down this week though. Think iv kept myself in a bit of a bubble since being diagnosed and now its really hit me. Terrified of recurrence... going through this all again etc. Anyone else feeling this way after chemo? Iv been counting down to tomorrow since the end of November... yet now it’s here- I don’t want to go!! I don’t want the 12 days of feeling horrendous. I don’t like people saying ‘oh it’s done’ — I panic thinking ‘what if it comes back and I have to do it again’ ... I’m scared that chemo is now over. All total contradictions but I don’t even know what I want!!! Arghhh 😩 😩 Anyone else felling like this about their ‘last’ chemo?!?? Xx ... View more

So glad to see that some of us are now coming out the other side! I just dread the feeling of next week ... just got to get through that first and hopefully will start to feel the same. Great news on the speedy surgery Kirsty! I am yet to meet my surgeon so not sure what my plan is? Like you though I havnt yet had any kind of lymph node biopsy so I’m hoping I’m not in for a nasty surprise when they do that.... :-I Runawaygirl - there is a definite SE pattern isn’t there! Part of me hopes that round 6 will be ‘ok’ but then the rational part of me knows it has been the same for the last 5 and it’s very unlikely to be any better for number 6!! My SE at the moment is a streaming runny nose! The Herceptin means I’m permanently glued to my box of tissues!! Xx ... View more

Oh no Cathsin! Sorry to hear you have been in hospital! Hope they let you go home pronto!! It’s defin taking its toll - Karebear I also had terrible heartburn this time around and stomach pains... it was really hard to deal with and I struggled eating and drinking anything for fear it would make it 10x worse!! I’m Day 15 and it’s subsided .. but I’m still wary!! Runawaygirl - I feel the same! My nausea lingered and I have just accepted that I will probably feel like that for round 6 now. The shear thought of chemo makes me feel really sick too!! I had to go to the ward yesterday for antibiotics for my arm and even the smell of the place made me feel sick!!! Arghh!!
