Started taking Letrozole yesterday, having seen the Oncologist and no chemo or radiotherapy needed. I’m hoping the side effects are manageable, felt a bit nauseous today but could be unrelated, it’s hard not to put every ache pain and symptoms down to the cancer or the treatment. I’m going to see how I go and try and deal with each niggle, advice on here certainly helps, apart from just being reassured it’s not just ‘you’ xx

Hi all , saw the Oncologist on the 13th( my birthday!)he went through all the results and my medical history and a long chat of pros and cons, he even mentioned a chemotherapy drug that is less toxic! All the time I was bracing myself to say “I really do not want chemo “. Then he said I honestly believe Chemotherapy would be of NO benefit to you, phewwwwww such a relief, I could have kissed him 🤣So Letrazole it is 😄I also asked if even though my nodes were clear, could it have spread and as I thought he said yes 😩, I’ve had a niggling sometimes debilitating pain in my lower back, from before my diagnosis, I told him he said it is probably not connected but he has to listen to me, and will send me for an MRI, even though he thinks it will be ok, I was so pleased he listened and is taking action, if it only puts my mind at rest that’s half the battle. So onwards and upwards as they say. See how I cope with the 💊xx Thanks everyone I’m sure I’ll have other questions as I go along xxx💕

Thank you janey2, got the results today and as I expected it is in the ‘grey’ zone . My score is 20, Sewing the Oncologist on 13th Feb, ( my birthday 😩) so putting out of my mind, I don’t want chemo, so hopefully I will get to choose as I hope the side effects outweigh the benefit in a fairly low score . Thanks for the support and hugs and understanding xxx

No I haven’t, I’m distraught with worry, over 3 weeks now! I ring every day! The BC. Nurse was very apologetic on Friday, saying they would definitely be back this week and they will ring as soon as they’ve been discussed! Tuesday is MDT day, so I’ll be on the phone , again!, first thing ! It’s all the waiting, then if bad news another 18weeks chemo 😩, I was soooooo positive but being dragged down 😢Sorry for moaning! Bet you wished you’d ever asked 🤣🤣xxx

Good luck Northerngal with your appointment tomorrow, I’m still waiting my results, hopefully today, as my trust has MDT meetings on a Tuesday. I’m feeling quite positive I won’t need Chemotherapy, just hope my bubble isn’t bursted 😩.Let is know how you go on Jane

I am nearly 3 weeks post Mx and immediate silicone reconstruction, with 2 nodes removed. My armpit and arm are sore, the numbness combined with electrical type nerve pain, my muse recommended massage, can anyone advise the best oil/cream to use for under my arm and maybe scar( if I can bring myself to do this!) Thanks in advance Jane x

My surgeon said it depends on the size of the tumour, if you are ER +tve and HER -tve, and node negative I think! I know it’s for my benefit in the long run, it’s just when you think active treatment is over, apart from hormone tablet, then the prospect of chemotherapy is thrown into the ring 😩I will deal with it if needed, just another BUMP in the road 😢xx

Seen my surgeon today, was told last week after mastectomy and silicone reconstruction on the 18th, nodes all clear and only need hormone tablets, now this Oncotype DX test has been brought up, 2 weeks for the results and may need chemotherapy! Now in a bit of a tiz, I realise it’s a good test, but chemotherapy is worrying me, I know I may not need it. Am I worrying prematurely? X

Oh no, I’m only 2weeks post mx and reconstruction, and am finding the pain and strange sensation under my arm the most problematic of it all, I am trying to exercise but it feels so tight! I was hoping it would improve slowly but 12 months 😩xx hope yours improves soon xx

Hi I’ve just been prescribed Letrozole for 10years, had mx 10 days ago and no lymph node involvement and no other treatment, I have read with interest the differing side effects, I’ve got Accord brand for my first prescription. I am post menopause ( had hysterectomy 10 years ago) so hoping I won’t get a return of those symptoms x

Hi yes my surgeon confirmed, the ‘electrical ‘ pain is normal and it is the nerves waking up so to speak, glad you’ve said on here it dies down, and that the numb feeling under the arm goes eventually! My surgeon confirmed that the mx had cleared ALL the cancer and that the nodes were clear, so no further treatment just hormone tablet for 10 years! The relief was incredible! Obviously the op to get over but emotionally feeling a 1000 times better x

The pain under my arm and down it , is the most uncomfortable, feels numb, like it doesn’t belong to me , if that makes sense? , the shooting electrical pain which is quite intense! Hoping it’s the nerves waking up again 😩, seeing the surgeon today for the drain out and will ask about this, I’m still sleepy more or less upright, can’t wait to lie on my side 😂x

Healing well, but developed shooting ‘electrical ‘ pain from my armpit down my arm, actually at times makes me shout it comes on that sharply! Painkillers don’t seem to touch it 😩Is this normal? Seeing the consultant today so will ask x

Hi I had a left mx and SNB on 19th December, I have been sleeping, with the assistance of a V shaped pillow, more or less upright and found this works for me, I have pain under my arm and down my my arm, in fact more so than the op site itself, keep on top of painkillers even if you feel ok. I hope it resolves for you, tiredness on top of pain is draining! Good luck and best wishes x jane

Thank you ladies, yes got the drain until I see the surgeon next Thursday, leaving the ‘cocoon’ of the hospital felt a bit daunting, and you don’t realise how much you rely on your upper body strength, until you can’t use it!
