Breast Cancer Now Forum

I went to Winchester when we walked the Southdowns Way in 2021. It was lovely to see it again. The area around the Cathedral is so lovely. A friend of mine has moved to Chichester and that has another wonderful Cathedral area too. I hope the chemo goes well. From what I hear they are better at doing it now than when I was first diagnosed in 2003 but I am lucky that I have been told both times this time and the time before that chemo isn’t going to help my kind of breast cancer.  Seagulls ... Well I am rooting for you for good news and try not to worry too much, when will you hear? And rem on the forums most people when they get good news don’t tend to post so it can be overly pessimistic. I found that I was searching a lot of forums for people like myself to see what results they had and got more anxious when I couldn’t find people. I think I have got it back in same breast 19years later this time 3 lumps not one. Have been told one doctor at my surgery nicknamed fatal and one other nicknamed Dr Kilmore but at least that made me laugh. Carry on carrying on. You have beaten me to the crown of longest time between getting it again. I think mine are new primaries but I still need to go to the clinic to find out. Seagulls ... View more

@claud272  Love the pic, very flattering! My initial treatment was going to be mastectomy and then hormone medication for 5/10 years, but they do oncotype test after surgery ( for certain types of bc, think HER neg ) and it came back as possible high risk of reoccurrence in the future, so I was given the option to have chemo to lower risk, it’s 12 weeks of paclitaxel, it hasn’t been too bad no horrendous side effects, just tiredness, achey…but I know how it pans out now so don’t make any weekend plans as that’s when it hits. After this I’ll go on the hormone medication for however many years……whatever it takes! Be interested to hear whether you get a goody bag next week , good luck. Have a good weekend xx   ... Hi Karzo It’s helpful to focus on any positives you can find but try to avoid that school of thought that you must be brave and positive to get through this. You are perfectly entitled to feel a complete wimp, like I was. It doesn’t change the outcome and it doesn’t leave you with a sense of failure, that you’re mot matching up to the brave women on the forums. We’re almost all here because we needed and reached out for help. That’s the strength of the system. Just be yourself and be sure to make this illness about you, not about protecting others. @AnnieV  My oncotype results were back within 2 weeks, so not too long a wait, but doesn’t mean it’s not on your mind every day no matter how long the wait!…… I’m now waiting for oncologist appointment to discuss next phase of treatment, I know I’m finding it difficult to concentrate on anything else, feel like I’m in my own glass bubble looking out on people leading ‘normal’ lives! Hello, just wanted to say it’s of some weird comfort to know that other people are finding things difficult at times……sometimes it can feel like everyone else is feeling positive and dealing with whatever treatment is needed and I am the only one having angry, negative thoughts and shouting at my husband every time he’s says ‘ it’ll all be fine, you’re clear of cancer’…….I had mastectomy 4weeks ago, lymph nodes and margins clear thought only hormone meds would follow and I could deal with that……. but now maybe chemo needed so unfortunately the rollercoaster continues, when really I want to get off now!
